1.Overview
1.1.General
The LOOP 500 control panel is a detector control and indicating equipment for connection of a maximum of
504 conventional addressable detectors.
1.2.Operator control levels
Operation of the LOOP 500 control panel is divided into four operator control levels. The current status is
indicated on the display. The transition between individual operator control levels is documented in the
event memory.
Operator control level 1
The 1st operator control level is always accessible; on this level, it is possible to cancel the internal audible
signal, to carry out the lamp test, to display the alarm counter and to recall the concealed (behind the
display) messages on the display.
Operator control level 2
The 2nd operator control level can be accessed by means of a key (turn key towards OPERATION
ENABLED). On this operator control level it is possible to disable and enable the detectors, the zones, the
transmission unit, the output for the external audible signalling units, control loops and fire alarm devices, to
carry out day/night switching, to reset the control panel and to display the event memory.
Operator control level 3
The 3rd operator control level can be accessed after entering the password (max. 8 digits) on the 2nd
operator control level. On this operator control level it is possible to set individual detectors or zones to
inspection mode, to exit inspection mode, to change the time switch controls (only the switching times, not
the linkages), to enter time of day and date, to alter the delay and to enter or alter the password.
Operator control level 3a
The operator control level 3a can only be accessed with an electronic key (Order No.: 571.026). On this
operator control level it is possible to carry out cold and warm start and to modify the configuration data via
the RS232 serial interface (from the programming station).

2. Operation on the 1st operator control level
2.1.Fire alarm system in quiescent condition
Quiescent condition of the fire alarm system is a condition when no part of the system is on Alarm, Fault,
Disable or Inspection state.
Indications
−
The green IN OPERATION LED illuminates,
−
With alarm delay function and in Day mode, the DAY MODE LED is ON.
the following message appears on the display:
1 6 : 3 5L 1
1 7 ..0 59 4
On the first line, the time of day and the operator control level (L1 for 1st operator control level), and on the
second line the date is displayed.
2.2.Fire alarm
2.2.1. Fire alarm (in Night mode)
In Night mode, a fire alarm is activated by a:
−
non-automatic fire detector
−
automatic fire detector if the control panel is in Night mode
(only in the case of alarm delay function)
or is activated by a:
−
non-automatic fire detector or
−
automatic fire detector (if no alarm delay function is programmed))
Indications
−
5 red FIRE LEDs flash,
−
a continuous audible signal is emitted,
−
the red ACTIVATION LED in the PRIMARY ALARM field illuminates
−
the yellow FIRE BRIGADE COMING or the red CALL FIRE BRIGADE LED in the PRIMARY ALARM
field illuminates,
−
the red ACTIVATION LED in the EXT. AUD. ALARM DEVICE illuminates

2.2.1.1. Measures in case of fire alarm in Night mode
−
Press Cancel int. aud. sign. key
The audible signal in the control panel will be muted
−
Initiate measures in accordance with alarm organization.
With more than two alarms active, the first and the last message will always appear on the display; all other
messages are concealed, this being indicated by the yellow ALARMS LED. The concealed messages can
only be scrolled after pressing the Reveal key at the ALARMS LED (in the field of the display); approx. 20
seconds after the arrow keys were last pressed, the first and the last message will be displayed again.
2.2.2.Fire alarm in Day mode (systems with alarm delay function only)
A fire alarm in Day mode will be activated by an automatic fire detector when the control panel is in Day
mode.
Indications
−
1 red FIRE LED (in the centre) flashes
−
audible signal sounds continuously
−
on the display, the message as shown before appears
2.2.2.1. Measures in case of fire alarm in Day mode

2.3.Pre-alarm
In the case of detector circuit double-knock operation or cross-zoning, on activation of the first detector or of
the first zone which is programmed in detector circuit double-knock operation or cross-zoning, a pre-alarm is
activated.
−
1 red FIRE LED (in the centre) flashes,

−
the display shows in plaintext the type of fault (not in the case of system fault)
−
internal audible signal sounds intermittently (in the case of system fault, sounds continuously)
With more than one fault alarm active, last message will always appear on the second line of the display; all
other messages are concealed, this being indicated by the yellow FAULTS LED. The concealed messages
can only be scrolled after pressing the Reveal key at the ALARMS LED (in the field of the display); approx.
