SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS
WARNING: Some dust created by
power sanding, sawing, grinding, drilling and other construction activities contains chemicals known to the State of California to cause cancer, birth defects or other reproductive harm.
Some examples of these chemicals are:
1) Lead from lead-based paints.
2) Crystalline silica from bricks and cement
and other masonry products.
3) Arsenic and chromium from chemically-
treated lumber. Your risk from these exposures varies, depending on how often you do this type of work. To reduce your exposure to these chemicals:
• Work in a well-ventilated area.
• Work with approved safety equipment,
such as those dust masks that are specially
designed to filter out microscopic particles.

recommended, Use of any other accessory
or attachment may increase the risk of injury.
DANGER!
Do not use hands to unclog chute. Stop motor before removing debris. Do not walk in front of running machine. Do not direct discharge at bystanders.
CAUTION!
Use for snow removal only. WARNING! To reduce the risk of electric shock - replace damaged cord immediately. To reduce the risk of injury, do not operate without guards in place. Double insulation - when servicing, use only identical replacement parts.
B. FOR ALL SNOW THROWERS
1) Do not use on graveled surface unless the Snow Thrower is adjusted for such a surface in accordance with the operator’s manual.
2) Keep children away - All visitors should be kept a safe distance from work area.
3) Dress properly - Do not wear loose clothing or jewelry. They can be caught in moving parts.
4) Wear rubber boots when operating the Snow Thrower.
5) Operation of the Snow Thrower in the hand-held position is unsafe, except in accordance with the special instructions for such use provided in the operator’s manual.
6) Warning - To prevent electric shock use only with an extension cord suitable for outdoor use.
7) Extension Cords - To prevent disconnection of Snow Thrower cord from the extension cord during operation.
i) Make a knot as shown in Figure 51.2, or ii) Use one of the plug-receptacle
retaining straps or connectors described in this manual.

A. FOR ALL DOUBLE-INSULATED SNOW THROWERS Replacement parts
When servicing use only identical replacement parts. Replace or repair damaged cords.

8) Avoid accidental starting - Don’t carry
plugged-in Snow Thrower with finger on switch. Be sure switch is off when plugging in.
9) If cord is damaged in any manner while plugged in, pull extension cord from wall receptacle.
10) Don’t abuse cord - Never carry Snow Thrower by cord or yank it to disconnect from receptacle. Keep cord from heat, oil, and sharp edges.
11) Keep hands away from moving parts.
12)
Keep guards in place and in working order.
13) Don’t force Snow Thrower - It will perform better and safer at the rate for which it was designed.
14) Don’t overreach - Keep proper footing and balance at all times.
15) If the Snow Thrower strikes a foreign object follow these steps:
i) Stop Snow Thrower. Release the switch. ii) Inspect for damage. iii) Repair any damage before restarting
and operating the Snow Thrower.
iv) Unplug power cord.
16) Disconnect Snow Thrower ­Disconnect the appliance from the power supply when not in use, before servicing, when changing accessories such as blades, and the like.
17) Store idle Snow Thrower Indoors - When not in use, appliances should be stored indoors in dry, and high or locked­up place -out of reach of children.
18) Maintain Snow Thrower with Care
- Follow instructions for lubricating and changing accessories.
SAFE OPERATION PRACTICES FOR WALK-BEHIND SNOW THROWER TRAINING
1. Read the operating and service instruction
manual carefully. Be thoroughly familiar with the controls and the proper use of the
equipment. Know how to stop the unit and disengage the controls quickly.
2. Never allow children to operate the
equipment. Never allow adults to operate the equipment without proper instruction.
3. Keep the area of operation clear of all
persons, particularly small children, and pets.
4. Exercise caution to avoid slipping or falling, especially when operating in reverse.
PREPARATION
1. Thoroughly inspect the area where the
equipment is to be used and remove all
doormats, sleds, boards, wires, and other foreign objects.
2. Do not operate the equipment without wearing adequate winter outer garments.
Wear footwear that will improve footing on slippery surfaces.
3. Use extension cords and receptacles as specified by the manufacturer for all units with electric drive motors or electric starting motors.
4. Adjust the collector housing height to clear gravel or crushed rock surface.
5. Never attempt to make any adjustments while the motor is running (except when specifically recommended by manufacturer).
6. Let motor and machine adjust to outdoor temperatures before starting to clear snow.
7. Always wear safety glasses or eye shields during operation or while performing an adjustment or repair to protect eyes from foreign objects that may be thrown from the machine.
OPERATION
1. Do not put hands or feet near or under rotating parts. Keep clear of the discharge opening at all times.
2. Exercise extreme caution when operating on or crossing gravel drives, walks, or roads. Stay alert for hidden hazards or traffic.
3. After striking a foreign object, stop the motor, disconnect the cord on electric motors, thoroughly inspect the Snow Thrower for any damage, and repair the damage before restarting and operating the Snow Thrower.
4. If the unit should start to vibrate abnormally, stop the motor and check immediately for the cause. Vibration is generally a warning of trouble.
5. Stop the motor whenever you leave the operating position, before unclogging the auger housing or discharge guide, and

when making any repairs, adjustments, or inspections.
6. When cleaning, repairing, or inspecting, make certain the auger and all moving parts have stopped. Disconnect the plug from mains to prevent accidental starting.
7. Do not clear snow across the face of slopes. Exercise extreme caution when changing direction on slopes. Do not attempt to clear steep slopes.
8. Never operate the Snow Thrower without proper guards, plates or other safety protective devices in place.
9. Never operate the Snow Thrower near glass enclosures, automobiles, window wells, drop-offs, and the like without proper adjustment of the snow discharge angle. Keep children and pets away.
10. Do not overload the machine capacity by attempting to clear snow at too fast a rate.
11. Never operate the machine at high transport speeds on slippery surfaces. Look behind and use care when backing.
12. Never direct discharge at bystanders or allow anyone in front of the unit.
13. Disengage power to the auger when Snow Thrower is transported or not in use.
14. Use only attachments and accessories approved by the manufacturer of the Snow Thrower (such as wheels weights, counterweights, cabs, and the like).
15. Never operate the Snow Thrower without good visibility or light. Always be sure of your footing, and keep a firm hold on the handles. Walk; never run.

MAINTENANCE AND STORAGE
1. Check shear bolts and other bolts at
frequent intervals for proper tightness to be sure the equipment is in safe working
condition.
2. Always refer to operator’s guide instructions for important details if the Snow Thrower is to be stored for an extended period.
3. Maintain or replace safety and instruction labels, as necessary.
4. Run the machine a few minutes after throwing snow to prevent freeze-up of the auger.
