INSTALLATION CONSIDERATIONS
1) A straight, short duct run will allow the hood to perform more efficiently. Try to limit the number of elbows and transitions to as few as possible. Long duct runs, elbows and transitions will reduce the performance of the hood.
IMPORTANT NOTES:
All hoods must exhaust to the outdoors. There is a possibility of noise issues, if there is a short duct run coupled with a remote blower.
2) Always use metal ducting. Do not use flex ducting.
3) Wolf recommends installing a back-draft damper in all installations (included with hood). In cold weather installations a back-draft damper is necessary to minimize the backflow of cold air into the room.
4) Wolf recommends the hood be installed 30”-36” above the cooking surface.
5) Local building codes may require the use of make-up air. Consult your local HVAC professional for specific requirements in your area.

HOOD PREPARATION
IMPORTANT NOTE:
If installing a duct cover, the duct cover must be installed prior to hood installation. See page #10 for duct cover installation instructions or follow those packed with duct cover.
1) Remove hood filters from hood shell.
2) Remove center filter bank by removing the 2 screws from each side. DO NOT DISCARD THESE PARTS, as they will be reinstalled after hood installation is complete.
3) The hood assembly is shipped with the transition attached. The transition is shipped upside down in the top of the hood assembly and must be removed and reinstalled.
4) Detach the transition from the hood assembly by removing the (4) screws on the top of the hood assembly. DO NOT DISCARD SCREWS. Shipping screws are needed for the reinstallation of the transition to hood.
5) Invert transition so that the 10” round points away from top of hood. Use screws removed from step 4.
6) If installing a remote blower, drill 7/8” hole through framing for conduit wiring. See Internal Blower on page 8 for overall dimensions and electrical requirements. See installation instructions provided with the blower for mounting and installation information.
IMPORTANT NOTE: Do not run or remove blower electrical connections through duct work.
INSTALLATION
Install Ductwork
1) Decide where the ductwork will
run between the hood and the outside of the home. Your Wolf island hood has a top discharge which will run vertically.
IMPORTANT NOTE: All hoods must exhaust to the outdoors.
2) When not installing an external ventilator, always install a roof or island cap. Connect 10" round metal ductwork to the cap and work back towards the hood location.
3) Use duct tape to seal the joints between the ductwork sections.
4) Your Wolf island hood comes standard with a 10" round transition with backdraft damper. It is recommended that a backdraft damper be used in all installations.
IMPORTANT NOTE: Do not use duct smaller than 10".
WARNING
To reduce the risk of fire, use only metal ductwork.

INSTALL HOOD
1) Make sure there is at least a 10" opening in the ceiling to accommodate the duct work necessary for proper ventilation.
2) Layout the overall dimensions of the hood top plate on the finished ceiling or unfinished surface. The top plate width is 13", but overall length will vary with the size of the hood. Refer to the overall dimensions illustration on page 3.
3) Use 2 x 4’s to construct the framing. The weight of the hood makes proper structural support necessary.
4) Mark the center location of the hood. Install (2) 2 x 4’s across the top of the ceiling joists.
5) Drill 5/32" holes in 2 x 4’s to match the pattern of the top of the hood.
6) Make sure hood filters and hood filter bank are removed prior to installation of hood. See page 6 for direction.
7) Lift the hood and align hood
mounting holes with pre-drilled ceil
ing holes. Slide ⁄" lag screws through
hood mounting holes and tighten
into 2x4 framing. DO NOT OVER
TIGHTEN SCREWS.
8) Connect the 10" round ductwork
to the hood transition using sheet
metal screws or duct tape.
9) Make electrical connections. See Install Wiring on page 8.
10) Adjust hood to proper location and tighten all 4 lag screws until hood surface is flush with ceiling. Install #10 x 2" screws through remaining hood mounting holes along top edge of hood surface for additional support.
11) If installing internal blower DO NOT REINSTALL hood filters and hood center filter bank until blower installation is complete. See Internal blower installation on page 8.
