IMPORTANT SAFEGUARDS
When using electrical appliances especially when children are present, basic safety
precautions should always be followed to reduce the risk of fire, electric shock, and/or
injury to persons, including the following:
1. READ ALL INSTRUCTIONS.
2. Do not touch hot surfaces. Use handle or knobs.
3. To protect against electric shock, do not place cord, plug or appliance in water
or other liquids.
4. Close supervision is necessary when any appliance is used by or near children.
5. Unplug from outlet when not in use and before cleaning. Allow to cool before
putting on or taking off parts and before cleaning the appliance.
6. Do not operate any appliance with a damaged cord or plug, or after the appliance
malfunctions or has been damaged in any manner. Return appliance to an
authorized service facility for examination, repair or adjustment.
7. The use of an accessory not evaluated for use with this appliance may
cause injury.
8. Do not use outdoors.
9. Do not let cord hang over edge of table or counter or touch hot surfaces.
10. Do not place on or near a hot gas or electric burner or in a heated oven.
11. Do not use appliance for other than intended use.
12. The glass container is designed for use with this appliance. It must never be used
on a range top. Do not set a hot container on a wet or cold surface. Do not use
a cracked container or a container having a loose or weakened handle.
Do not clean container with cleaners, steel wool pads or other adhesive materials.
Do not place in microwave oven.

This appliance is for household use and may be plugged into any 120-volt AC electrical
outlet (ordinary household current). Do not use any other electrical outlet.
NOTE:
This appliance has a polarized plug (one blade is wider than the other). As a safety
feature, this plug fits in a polarized outlet only one way. If the plug does not fit into the
outlet, reverse the plug and try again. If it still does not fit, contact a qualified electrician.
Do not attempt to defeat this safety feature.
A short power-supply cord is provided to reduce the hazards resulting from entanglement
or tripping over a longer cord. An extension cord may be used with care; however, its
marked electrical rating should be at least as great as the electrical rating of the
appliance. The extension cord should not drape over the counter or tabletop, where it
can be pulled on by children or tripped over.
LINE CORD SAFETY TIPS
1. Never pull or yank on cord or the appliance.
2. To insert plug, grasp it firmly and guide it into outlet.
3. To disconnect appliance, grasp plug and remove it from outlet.
4. Before each use, inspect the line cord for cuts and/or abrasion marks. If any are
found, this indicates that the appliance should be serviced and the line cord
replaced. Please return it to our Service Department or to an authorized service
representative.
5. Never wrap the cord tightly around the appliance, as this could place undue
stress on the cord where it enters the appliance and cause it to fray and break.
DO NOT OPERATE APPLIANCE IF THE LINE CORD SHOWS ANY DAMAGE, OR IF
APPLIANCE WORKS INTERMITTENTLY OR STOPS WORKING ENTIRELY.
INITIAL USE:
Before using coffee maker for the first time, wash carafe, lid and filter holder in warm,
soapy water. Rinse well and dry thoroughly. Wipe unit with a soft, slightly damp cloth or
sponge to remove any packaging dust. NEVER IMMERSE the appliance, cord or plug, in
water or other liquid.
Before brewing coffee for the first time, allow water to cycle through without coffee or
paper filter; this will clean the water reservoir and filter holder prior to initial use.
COFFEE FILTERS:
This coffee maker is designed to be used with a cone-shaped paper filter. We
recommend #4 size Melitta paper filters, available at local grocery stores or wherever
coffee makers are sold. The use of basket-style paper filters is not recommended, since
they do not conform to the shape of the filter holder and may cause coffee to back up
and spill over during brewing.
BREWING COFFEE:
Be sure On/Off button is in the Off position. Using carafe markings as a guide, measure
and pour cold water into water reservoir (Fig. 2).
NOTE: The amount of brewed coffee will measure slightly less than original water due to
absorption of water by the coffee grounds.
Lift the lid and carefully pour desired amount of water into reservoir. Markings on water
level indicator will measure capacity.
Adjust filter holder so that it fits securely in brew basket. (Notch on filter holder should
line up with notch on brew basket.) Place #4 disposable paper filter in filter holder and
add 1 level tablespoon of coffee for each cup of coffee desired. If using a scoop, use one
scoop (equivalent to two tablespoons) for every two cups of coffee. Increase or decrease
amount of coffee used to suit individual taste. Gently shake paper filter to spread coffee
evenly. Close reservoir lid.
To switch on, press the On/Off button. The indicator light will illuminate, indicating that
the coffee maker is switched on and brewing is in progress, and the amount of time

1. Press the On/Off button and hold it. The clock display will show 3:59. To adjust the
Keep Warm time, press the hour and then the minute button. (Remember that
numerals will run BACKWARD when Keep Warm feature is being programmed.)
2. When desired Keep Warm time has been reached, release the On/Off button. The red
indicator light will go off.
3. The programmed heating time will now be stored in memory, and the clock will once
again show correct time.
AUTO PAUSE ’N SERVE:
The Auto Pause ’n Serve feature will function only if the lid is properly placed on
the carafe.
The Auto Pause ’n Serve feature ensures that coffee will not drip for 30 seconds if the
carafe is removed from the warming plate while coffee is brewing. The carafe may be
removed during the brewing process to serve a cup of coffee, then placed back on the
warming plate to continue brewing process.
To use the Auto Pause ’n Serve feature, allow the carafe to be filled with at least one
or two cups of freshly brewed coffee. Remove the carafe from the warming plate and
pour coffee into cup or mug directly from the carafe. Place the carafe back on the
warming plate.
WARNING: To avoid damaging the unit, spilling coffee or burning yourself, use the Auto
Pause ’n Serve feature only as directed above. Do not attempt to serve a cup of coffee
by placing a cup or mug underneath the filter holder.
MAINTENANCE INSTRUCTIONS
This appliance requires little maintenance. To reduce the risk of electric shock, do not
open or remove bottom cover of unit. It contains no user serviceable parts. Do not try
to repair it yourself. Refer it to qualified personnel if servicing is needed.
TO CLEAN: At least once a month, pour one quart of white vinegar into carafe. Add cold
water until carafe is filled. Pour water and vinegar into water reservoir. Place a filter in filter
holder. Place carafe on warming plate and turn unit ON. Allow to steam and drip until
carafe is half full. Turn unit OFF, remove carafe from warming plate and let it stand for
15 minutes.
When carafe is cool, pour liquid back into water reservoir, place carafe back on warming
plate, and turn unit ON again. Allow all liquid to drip into carafe. Turn unit OFF, and
discard the liquid in carafe.
Allow unit to cool for 10 minutes; then rinse unit by filling water reservoir with clean, cold
water, inserting a new filter and turning on, allowing water to drip into carafe. Turn unit
OFF and discard water. Wash and dry carafe and filter holder. When unit has cooled, wipe
with a dry cloth.
The carafe, serving lid, and filter holder may be washed in warm, soapy water or on the
top rack of dishwasher. The unit can be wiped with a soft, slightly damp cloth and dried.
Never use abrasive scouring pads or cleanser. Never immerse unit in water or any
other liquid.
TO STORE: Unplug unit; store in its box in a clean, dry place. Never store it while it is hot
or still plugged in. Never wrap cord tightly around the appliance. Do not put any stress
on the cord where it enters the unit, as it could cause the cord to fray and break.

button is released, indicator light will remain on, but clock display will return to the
present time. When brewing is complete and/or all coffee has been served, press the
On/Off button to switch the coffee maker Off (see fig. 3). The indicator light will also go off
to show that coffee maker is no longer operating.
Place lid on carafe, and then place the carafe on the warming plate. Plug into outlet and
switch ON.
When brewing is complete, remove carafe from warming plate. For safety, always pour
coffee from carafe with lid in place. To maintain serving temperature, keep carafe on
warming plate. The warming plate will automatically cycle to keep the coffee at serving
temperature. Switch OFF when carafe is empty.
FOR A SECOND POT: Turn unit off and allow to cool for 10 minutes before brewing a
second pot. If you wait less than 10 minutes, hot water left in the tubes could splash out.
To avoid this, rinse carafe, replace filter and add fresh coffee. Place carafe on warming
plate and use another container to pour cold water into water reservoir. Use the
measurement markings on the water reservoir to determine correct amount of water.
PROGRAMMABLE DIGITAL TIMER
SETTING THE CLOCK:
1. Set unit on a flat, stable surface and plug it in. The LCD clock display will flash 12:00
until time of day is set. Note: A power failure will also cause display to flash, and it will
be necessary to reset the clock.
2. To set the clock, press the HOUR button for a few seconds until numbers begin to
change (see fig. 3). When desired hour has been reached, repeat procedure with the
MIN button.
3. To distinguish between AM and PM settings, the letters PM will appear in upper-left
corner of clock display when it is in that mode. (No such indication will be visible when
time displayed is AM.)
4. As soon as correct HOUR/MIN are programmed, remove finger from button and wait
a few seconds until the two dots between hour and minute begin to flash. This
indicates that time is set.
SETTING THE TIMER:
1. Be sure the push-button ON/OFF switch is in the OFF position and the indicator light
is off. Press the PROGRAM button until the coffee cup symbol begins to flash.
When programming for the first time, 6:00 will begin to flash; otherwise, time
previously programmed will flash.
2. When the coffee cup symbol begins to flash, release the PROGRAM button, and
program for time desired by following instructions in SETTING THE CLOCK section.
3. When programming is complete, the coffee cup symbol will go off after 5 seconds.
4. To activate automatic operation, briefly press the PROGRAM button. The coffee cup
symbol will come on, and the pre-set brewing time will be displayed momentarily.
Clock will then return to present time, but the coffee cup symbol will remain on to
indicate that automatic operation has been activated.
5. When the brewing process begins, the coffee cup symbol will go off, and the
indicator light will go on to signal that the coffee maker is operating.
HOW TO PROGRAM THE AUTO-OFF KEEP WARM FEATURE
Normally, the warming plate will begin to heat up as soon as unit is switched On. It will
remain on to keep brewed coffee hot until coffee maker is switched Off again and the red
indicator light goes out. However, unit can be programmed to keep coffee warm for up to
3 hours and 59 minutes, after which time the coffee maker will automatically switch Off.

Este artefacto es para uso doméstico solamente y puede ser enchufado en cualquier

NOTA:
Este artefacto tiene un enchufe polarizado (una hoja es más ancha que la otra). Como

5. Nunca enrolle el cordón ajustadamente alrededor del artefacto, ya que esto
podría causar una presión excesiva en el cordón donde éste entra al artefacto
y causar desgaste y rotura.

USO INICIAL:
Antes de usar la cafetera por primera vez, lave la jarra, tapa y recipiente para el filtro en
agua tibia jabonosa. Enjuáguelas y séquelas completamente. Limpie la unidad con un
paño húmedo o con una esponja para remover el polvo causado al empaquetarla. JAMAS
SUMERJA la unidad, el cordón o enchufe en agua u otro líquido.
Antes de la primera colada de café, haga funcionar la unidad con agua pero sin café o
filtro de papel, esto limpiará el depósito para el agua y el recipiente para el filtro antes del
uso inicial.
FILTROS PARA EL CAFE:
Esta cafetera está diseñada para ser usada con un filtro de papel en forma de cono.
Nosotros recomendamos los filtros de papel Melita #4, disponibles en cualquier
supermercado o donde se vendan cafeteras. El uso de filtros de papel tipo canasta no
son recomendados, ya que no se conforman a la forma del porta filtro y esto puede
causar que el café se acumule y se derrame durante el colado.
PARA COLAR CAFE:
Asegúrese que el botón Encendido/Apagado (On/Off) esté en la posición Off (Apagado).
Usando las marcas en la jarra como guía, mida y vierta agua fría en el depósito para el
agua (Fig. 2).
NOTA: La cantidad de café colado medirá ligeramente menos que el agua original debido
a la absorción del agua por el café molido.
Levante la tapa y cuidadosamente vierta la cantidad de agua deseada en el depósito para
el agua. Las marcas en el indicador del nivel del agua medirán la capacidad.
Ajuste el porta filtro de tal manera que quede asegurado en la canasta para colar. (Las
aberturas en el porta filtro deberán alinearse con las aberturas en la canasta para colar).
Coloque los filtros de café desechables #4 en el porta filtro y añada 1 cucharada de café

4. Para activar el funcionamiento automático, presione brevemente el botón PROGRAM
(PROGRAMACION). El símbolo de la taza de café se encenderá y la hora fijada
que comenzará a colar será expuesta momentáneamente. El reloj luego regresará a la
hora actual, pero el símbolo de la taza de café permanecerá encendido indicando
que el funcionamiento automático ha sido activado.
5. Cuando comience el proceso de colado, el símbolo de la taza de café se apagará
y la luz indicadora se encenderá para mostrar que la cafetera está en funcionamiento.
COMO PROGRAMAR EL DISPOSITIVO DE APAGADO AUTOMATICO PARA
MANTENER CALIENTE:
Normalmente, el plato de calentamiento comenzará a calentar tan pronto como sea
encendida la unidad. Ésta permanecerá encendida para mantener el café colado hasta
que la cafetera sea nuevamente apagada y la luz roja indicadora se apague. Sin
embargo, la unidad puede ser programada para mantener el café caliente hasta 3 horas
y 59 minutos, después de ese tiempo la cafetera se apagará automáticamente. Para
programar el dispositivo Apagado automático para Mantener Caliente:
1. Presione el botón On/Off (Encendido/Apagado) y sosténgalo. El reloj mostrará 3:59.
Para ajustar el tiempo Mantener Caliente, presione el botón de la hora y luego el de
minuto. (Recuerde que los numerales correrán HACIA ATRAS cuando el dispositivo
Mantener Caliente es programado.)
2. Cuando haya llegado la hora para Mantener Caliente, suelte el botón de Encendido/
Apagado (On/Off). La luz roja indicadora se apagará.
3. La hora programada para calentar será grabada en la memoria y el reloj nuevamente
mostrará la hora correcta.
AUTO SUSPENSION AL SERVIR:
El dispositivo Auto suspensión al servir funcionará solamente si la tapa está colocada
apropiadamente en la jarra.
El dispositivo Auto suspensión al servir asegura que el café no goteará por 30 segundos
si la jarra es removida del plato para calentar mientras está colando café. La jarra puede
ser removida durante el proceso de colado para servir una taza de café, luego colóquela
en el plato para calentar para continuar con el proceso de colar café.
Para usar Auto suspensión al servir, deje que la jarra se llene por lo menos con una o dos
tazas de café recién colado. Retire la jarra del plato y vierta café a una taza directamente
de la jarra. Regrese la jarra al plato para calentar.
PRECAUCION: Para evitar que se dañe la unidad, se derrame el café o usted mismo
se queme, use el dispositivo Auto suspensión al servir solamente como se indica
arriba. No intente servir una taza de café colocando una taza debajo del recipiente
para el filtro.
INSTRUCCIONES DE MANTENIMIENTO
Este artefacto requiere poco mantenimiento. Para reducir el riesgo de una descarga
eléctrica, no abra o remueva la cubierta de la base de la unidad. No tiene piezas que
puedan ser reparadas por el usuario. No trate de repararlo usted mismo. Si necesita
reparación remítalo a personas calificadas.
PARA LIMPIAR: Por lo menos una vez al mes, ponga un cuarto de vinagre blanco
en la jarra. Añada agua fría hasta que la jarra se llene. Vierta el agua con el vinagre en
el depósito para el agua. Coloque un filtro en el recipiente para el filtro. Coloque la jarra
en el plato para calentar y encienda la unidad (ON). Deje que se humedezca y gotee
hasta que la jarra esté hasta la mitad. Apague la unidad, retire la jarra del plato para
calentar y déjela reposar por 15 minutos.
Cuando la jarra se haya enfriado, vierta el líquido al depósito para el agua; coloque la
jarra en el plato y encienda nuevamente la unidad. Deje que todo el líquido gotee en la
jarra. Apague la unidad y deseche el líquido de la jarra.

por cada taza de café que se desee colar. Si usa un cucharoncito, añada un cucharoncito
(equivalente a dos cucharadas) por cada dos tazas de café. Vaya aumentando o
disminuyendo la cantidad de café hasta adaptarlo a su gusto. Agite suavemente el filtro
de papel para esparcir el café uniformemente. Cierre la tapa del depósito.
Para encenderla, presione el botón Encendido/Apagado (On/Off) (vea fig. 3). La luz
indicadora se iluminará, indicando que la cafetera está encendida y el colado está en
proceso y la cantidad de tiempo programado para que el plato de calentamiento
permanezca en funcionamiento será visible en el panel. (Vea las instrucciones COMO
PROGRAMAR EL DISPOSITIVO DE APAGADO AUTOMATICO PARA MANTENERLO
CALIENTE). Cuando el botón sea soltado, la luz indicadora permanecerá encendida, pero
el reloj regresará a la hora actual.
Coloque la tapa en la jarra y luego coloque la jarra en el plato para calentar. Enchufe la
unidad y encienda el interruptor (ON).
Cuando se haya terminado de colar y/o todo el café ha sido servido, presione el botón de
Encendido/Apagado (On/Off) para apagar la cafetera. La luz indicadora se apagará
indicando que la cafetera ya no está en funcionamiento.
Cuando ya se haya terminado de colar, retire la jarra del plato para calentar. Para
seguridad, vierta siempre el café de la jarra con la tapa puesta. Para mantener el café
caliente, mantenga la jarra en el plato. El plato calienta automáticamente y mantendrá el
café en la temperatura apropiada para ser servido en cualquier momento. Apague el
interruptor (OFF) cuando la jarra esté vacía.
PARA UNA SEGUNDA COLADA: Apague la unidad y déjela que se enfríe por 10 minutos
antes de colar por segunda vez. Si menos de 10 minutos pasan, el agua caliente que
queda en los conductos podría salpicar. Para evitar esto, enjuague la jarra, reemplace el
filtro y añada café fresco. Coloque la jarra en el plato para calentar y use otro recipiente
para verter agua fría en el depósito para el agua. Use las medidas marcadas en el
depósito para el agua para determinar la cantidad correcta de agua.
MARCADOR DE TIEMPO DIGITAL PROGRAMABLE:
FIJANDO EL RELOJ:
1. Coloque la unidad en una superficie estable y plana y enchúfela. El reloj LCD (digital)
oscilará exponiendo 12:00 del día hasta que sea fijada la hora: Una falta de
electricidad también lo hará oscilar y será necesario volver a fijar la hora.
2. Para fijar el reloj, presione por unos segundos el botón HOUR (HORA) hasta que los
números comiencen a cambiar (vea fig. 3). Cuando se ha llegado a la hora correcta,
repita el procedimiento con el botón MIN (MINUTOS).
3. Para distinguir entre AM y PM, las letras PM aparecerán en la esquina de arriba del
lado izquierdo del reloj cuando esté ya en este modo. (No habrá indicación visible
cuando esté en AM.)
4. Tan pronto como la HORA/MINUTO estén programados, retire el dedo del botón
y espere unos cuantos segundos hasta que los dos puntos entre la hora y los minutos
comiencen a oscilar. Esto indica que la hora ya está fijada.
FIJANDO EL MARCADOR DE TIEMPO:
1. Asegúrese de que el botón de encendido/apagado (On/Off) esté en la posición de
apagado y que la luz de encendido esté apagada. Presione el botón PROGRAM
(programación) hasta que el símbolo de la taza comience a oscilar. Cuando lo
programe por primera vez, 6:00 comenzará a oscilar, de otra manera la hora antes
programada comenzará a oscilar.
2. Cuando el símbolo de la taza de café comience a oscilar, suelte el botón
PROGRAM (PROGRAMACION) y programe la hora deseada siguiendo las
instrucciones en la sección FIJANDO EL RELOJ.
3. Cuando la programación haya sido completada, el símbolo de la taza de café se
apagará después de 5 segundos.

GARANTIA LIMITADA POR UN AÑO
Dentro de un año de garantía, nosotros le reemplazar emos este artefacto sin
costo alguno por defectos en material o manufactura. Para reemplazo, envíe el
artefacto con evidencia de compra. Esta garantía es nula si el artefacto se ha
caído, abusado, alterado o mal usado en cualquier forma.
GUARDE PARA REFERENCIA
Deje que se enfríe la unidad por 10 minutos; luego enjuáguela llenando el depósito para
el agua con agua limpia y fría, colocando un nuevo filtro y encendiéndola, deje que el
agua gotee en la jarra. Apague la unidad y deseche el agua. Lave y seque la jarra y el
depósito para el filtro. Cuando la unidad se haya enfriado, límpiela con un paño seco.
La jarra, la tapa y el recipiente para el filtro pueden lavarse con agua caliente y jabón o en
la parte de arriba de la lavadora de platos. La unidad puede ser limpiada con un paño
suave ligeramente húmedo y secada. Nunca use esponjillas de fregar o limpiadores
abrasivos. Nunca sumerja la unidad en el agua o cualquier otro líquido.
PARA GUARDAR: Desenchufe la unidad; guárdela en su misma caja en un lugar limpio y
seco. Nunca la guarde mientras está caliente o enchufada. Nunca enrolle el cordón
ajustado alrededor del artefacto. No ponga presión al cordón donde éste entra a la
unidad, ya que esto podría causar el desgaste del cordón y su posible rotura.
