4. Design and function
4.1 Description
Direct switching of small capacities which are usually required in connection
with a PLC can be realised by this inductive contact with integrated amplier
which is factory-installed directly into the measuring instrument.
WIKA operating instructions electronic contact, model 830 E8
2435182.03 12/2010 GB/D/F/E
4. Design and function / 5. Transport, packaging, storage
The familiar advantages with inductive contacts, such as an especially safe contact operation, no wear at all by proximity contact operation as well as virtually no reaction on the measuring system, thus enabling the accuracy of the indication, are used in this context, too.
An additional control unit is not required.
The electronic contact with 2- or 3-wire design is realised with PNP output. The operating voltage is 10 ... 30 V DC. The maximum switching current is 100 mA.
The model 830 E electronic contact is not intrinsically safe and therefore not suitable for applications in potentially explosive atmospheres!
4.2 Scope of delivery
Cross-check scope of delivery with delivery note.
5. Transport, packaging and storage
5.1 Transport
Check instrument for any damage that may have been caused by transport.
Obvious damage must be reported immediately.
GB
5.2 Packaging
Do not remove packaging until just before mounting. Keep the packaging as it will provide optimum protection during transport (e.g.
change in installation site, sending for repair).
5.3 Storage Permissible conditions at the place of storage:
Storage temperature: In accordance with measuring instrument

6. Commissioning, operation
6. Commissioning, operation
6.1 Mechanical connection
In accordance with the general technical regulations for pressure and tempera-
GB
ture measuring instruments (e.g. EN 837-2 or EN 13190). When screwing the
gauges in, the force required to do this must not be applied through the case
or the cable terminal box, but only through the spanner ats provided for this
purpose and using a suitable tool.
Installation with open-ended spanner
With safety pressure gauges (see dial symbol k) ensure that the free space
behind the blow-out back is at least 15 mm.
Special requirements for the installation point
To avoid, amongst other things, switch signal "chatter", it must be ensured that the instruments are mounted free of vibration. If the measuring point is not adequately stable, a measuring instrument holder should be used for fastening
(and possibly via a exible capillary).
If vibrations cannot be avoided by means of suitable installation, instruments
with liquid lling should be used. The instruments should be protected against coarse dirt and wide uctuations in
ambient temperature.
6.2 Electrical connection
The electrical connection must only be made by qualied skilled personnel. The
permissible electrical data, connection details and switching functions are given
on the product label axed to the instrument.
The connection terminals are appropriately marked. The instruments must be connected to the equipotential bonding of the plant.
The electrical connection is made via a DIN EN 175301-803 connector.

PNP transistor With PNP switching apparatus, the switched output is a connection towards PLUS. The load R selected in a way not to exceed the maximum switching current of 100 mA.

6.3 Adjusting the set pointers
The setting of the set points is achieved using the adjustment lock in the window with the aid of the adjustment key (part of the scope of delivery; found in
standard instruments on the side of the terminal box).
GB
Set pointer
Removable
Adjustment lock
adjustment key
The set pointers for the limit switches are freely adjustable over the full scale range. For reasons of switching accuracy and long life of the mechanical
measuring systems, the switch points should be between 10 % and 90 % of the
measuring span.
7. Maintenance and cleaning
7.1 Maintenance
The instruments are maintenance-free. The indicator and switching function should be checked once or twice every year. The instrument must be disconnected from the process to check the indication and switching function with a pressure or temperature testing device.
Repairs must only be carried out by the manufacturer or appropriately qualied
skilled personnel.
7.2 Cleaning
CAUTION!
Prior to cleaning, disconnect the instrument from the mains.
Clean the instrument with a moist cloth (in soapy water).
Ensure that all the parts are dry before the power is switched on again.

8. Dismounting and disposal
WARNING!
Residual media in dismounted instruments can result in a risk to personnel, the environment and equipment.
Take sucient precautionary measures.
8.1 Dismounting
WARNING!
Risk of burns!
Let the instrument cool down suciently before dismounting it!
During dismounting there is a risk of dangerously hot pressure media escaping.
Only disconnect the instruments once the system has been depressurised!
8.2 Disposal
Incorrect disposal can put the environment at risk. Dispose of instrument components and packaging materials in an environmen-
tally compatible way and in accordance with the country-specic waste disposal
regulations.
