IAGNOSTIC GUIDE
D
Before servicing, run diagnostic test first, then check the following:
■
Make sure there is power at the wall outlet.
■
Has a household fuse blown or circuit breaker tripped? Time delay
fuse?
■
Are both hot and cold water faucets open and water supply hoses
unobstructed?
■
All tests/checks should be made with a VOM or DVM having a
sensitivity of 20,000 Ω per volt DC or greater.
■
IMPORTANT
Electrostatic Discharge (ESD)
Sensitive Electronics
ESD problems are present everywhere. ESD may damage
or weaken the electronic control assembly. The new control
assembly may appear to work well after repair is finished,
but failure may occur at a later date due to ESD stress.
■
Use an anti-static wrist strap. Connect wrist strap to green
ground connection point or unpainted metal in the appliance.
-OR-
Check all connections before replacing components. Look for
broken or loose wires, failed terminals, or wires not pressed into
onnections far enough.
c
■
A potential cause of a control not functioning is corrosion on
connections. Observe connections and check for continuity with
an ohmmeter.
■
Connectors: Look at top of connector. Check for broken or loose
wires. Check for wires not pressed into connector far enough to
engage metal barbs.
■
Resistance checks must be made with power cord unplugged
from outlet, and with wiring harness or connectors disconnected.
Touch your finger repeatedly to a green ground connection point
or unpainted metal in the appliance.
■
Before removing the part from its package, touch the antistatic bag to a green ground connection point or unpainted
metal in the appliance.
■
Avoid touching electronic parts or terminal contacts; handle
electronic control assembly by edges only.
■
When repackaging failed electronic control assembly in antistatic bag, observe above instructions.
TROUBLESHOOTING GUIDE
PROBLEMPOSSIBLE CAUSE/TEST
LEAKING• Make sure supply hose connections are not leaking.Check for rubber gasket damage due to overtightening.
• Make sure end of drain hose is correctly inserted and secured to drain facility.
• Avoid overloading the washer, which can push the door partially open.
• Check internal hose connections.
• Check the bellows.Remove, reposition, and reinstall the bellows. Make sure the bellows is not wrinkled.
NO WATER FILL• Make sure the water supply is turned on fully.
• Normal water level is only 2.5 to 5 inches (64 mm to 127 mm) inside the tub.
• Check for kinks in inlet hoses.
• Check for clogged inlet screens.
• Visually check hot and cold water flow separately at the dispenser.
NOISY• Washer should be leveled properly as outlined in the Installation Instructions.
• Weak floors can cause vibration and walking of the washer.
• Check for loose lower front bracket.
• Be sure rubber feet are installed on the leveling legs.
• Make sure that the leveling leg lock nuts are tightened.
• High-pitched noise during fill may be due to clogged inlet screens. Disconnect the supply hoses and clean
the inlet screens.

ROUBLESHOOTING GUIDE
T
PROBLEMPOSSIBLE CAUSE/TEST
TUB IS COMPLETELY FULL OF SUDS• Run the washer through another complete cycle using cold water and no more detergent.
• Reduce the amount of detergent for that specific load size and soil level.
• Loads of towels have a minimal amount of soil present and typically create more suds.
• Use high efficiency or low sudsing detergent specially formulated for front load washers.
• Check for restricted drain system.
• Check for loose wire connections at control board and pump.
• Check to see if the belt fell off the motor and pulley.
• Perform the Continuity Test, page 7.
WETCLOTHES• Single or tangled items can cause unbalances – add additional towels or redistribute items in drum.
• Excessive suds may have been present.Check for diagnostic code “Sud”.
• Check connections at all switches and at the washer control board.
• Check for restricted drain system.
• Perform the Continuity Test, page 7.
DOOR WILL NOT LOCK• Door is not completely closed.
• Check the electrical connectors and check coils for continuity at the lock assembly and at the washer control board.
• Check if the door switch is closed. If the door switch is electrically open when the door is mechanically closed, the
door will not lock.
DOOR WILL NOT UNLOCK• Unplug and reconnect the power cord.Wait 2 minutes to see if the washer door unlocks.
• Make sure the door locked switch circuit is closed at the machine control.
• Make sure the belt has not fallen off.
• Check for loose electrical connections at the door lock assembly and at the washer control board.
• Perform the Continuity Test, page 7.
WASHER WILLNOT START• Make sure the power cord is plugged into a live electrical outlet.
• Make sure that fuse or circuit breaker are not blown; replace or reset if necessary.
• Close the door and push the START button to start the washer. The LED should change from flashing
to continuously on.
• The washer may be in a pause or soak period of a cycle.Wait briefly for the washer to start.
• Check for restricted drain system.
WASHER WILL NOT DRAIN• Check for restricted drain system.
• Check low and high water levels.
• Check for 120 VAC at the drain pump when a spin cycle is selected.
WRONG WATER TEMPERATURE• Since this washer uses a low amount of water, the control board regulates the incoming water flow to temper the
actual temperature of the water in the tub, which may be warmer or cooler than expected.
• Make sure both faucets are turned on fully.
• Make sure the temperature selection is correct.
• Make sure the inlet hoses are connected to the correct faucets and inlet connections. Flush the water line before
filling the washer.
• Check the water heater to be sure it is delivering water at a minimum 120°F(49°C) at the tap.Check the water
heater capacity and recovery rate.
• If the water heater is located a longdistance from the washer, the water line may need to be purgedprior to starting
a wash cycle.
• Check for kinked inlet hoses or clogged inlet screens.
• This washer can sense if the fill hoses are installed incorrectly (reversed between hot and cold). If the fill hoses
were previously installed incorrectly and then corrected, the washer will need to run through a Hot/Cold cycle.
If the water temperature still seems incorrect, check for proper resistance on the water valve thermistor.
• Make sure the heating element is functional. Check for condensation on water temperature sensor connector.
