Electrical Shock Hazard
Disconnect power before servicing.
Replace all panels before operating.
Failure to do so can result in death or electrical shock.
NOTE: The fuse is a fairly delicate safety control, requiring some care in handling.
Follow the precautions below during installation.
1.Unplug dryer or disconnect power.
2.Remove heater assembly from chassis for access to fuse.
3.Examine replacement fuse before installing. Do not use if either wire is loose at the fuse body.
4.Examine inoperative fuse in heater assembly to determine if bolt welded to replacement fuse lead is required. This can be determined by referring to the illustration of a typical heater assembly with fuse lead ends looped around each bolt. If this is the case, cut the fuse lead from bolt and discard the bolt.
5.Carefully form the fuse leads for connection at the heater. Hold leads with needlenose pliers to prevent strain at the fuse body connections during forming of leads.
6.Locate fuse as shown in drawing below, being careful to keep fuse body clear of heater wire by at least 1⁄2".
7.Install 3⁄16" lockwasher provided, behind fuse ring-type terminal on heater terminal. Be sure electrical connections are tight and positive; however, be careful not to overtighten which could result in a broken terminal bolt or connection.
8.When reinstalling the heater assembly, use care not to damage wiring or electrical connections. Repair any frayed wires or loose connections that could result in a future service call.
