Thank you for purchasing the VTech® Stacking Animal Squares learning toy!
The VTech® Stacking Animal Squares blocks that encourage your baby to build and learn. These three stacking blocks feature a variety of buttons, gears, and other manipulative elements that teach animals, counting, colors and more! For added fun, the electronic block has built-in triggers that recognize the other blocks to create stories. With 24 possible combinations, your child can stack the blocks to hear a variety of phrases!

Please cut and discard the cord between the upper block and the electronic block before playing with the unit. This cord is not part of the product and should be discarded for your child’s safety.

INSTRUCTIONS
BATTERY INSTALLATION
1. Make sure the unit is turned OFF.
2. Locate the battery cover on the back of the unit. Use a screwdriver to loosen the screw.
3. Install 2 new ‘AAA’ (AM-4/LR03) batteries following the diagram inside the battery box. (The use of new alkaline batteries is recommended for maximum performance.)
4. Replace the battery cover and tighten the screw to secure.
BATTERY NOTICE
• Use new alkaline batteries for maximum performance.
• Use onl y ba tteries of th e sa me or equ ival ent type as
recommended.
• Do not mix different types of batteries: alkaline, standard (carbon-
zinc) or rechargeable (Ni-Cd, Ni-MH), or new and used batteries.
• Do not use damaged batteries.
• Insert batteries with the correct polarity.
• Do not short-circuit the battery terminals.
• Remove exhausted batteries from the toy.
• Remove batteries during long periods of non-use.
• Do not dispose of batteries in fire.
• Do not charge non-rechargeable batteries.
• Remove rechargeable batteries from the toy before charging (if
removable).
• Rechargeable batteries are only to be charged under adult
supervision.
WE DO NOT RECOMMEND THE USE OF RECHARGEABLE BATTERIES.

PRODUCT FEATURES
1. OFF/VOLUME CONTROL SWITCH
To turn the unit ON, slide the OFF/
VOLUME CONTROL SWITCH to the LOW VOLUME ( ) or HIGH VOLUME ( ) position. To turn the unit OFF, slide the OFF/VOLUME CONTROL SWITCH to the OFF ( )
position.
2. AUTOMATIC SHUT-OFF
To preserve battery life, the VTech® Stacking Animal Squares
will automatically power-down after approximately 45 seconds without input. The unit can be turned on again by pressing any button on the electronic block, stacking the blocks or removing a stacked block.
ACTIVITIES
1. Slide the OFF/VOLUME CONTROL SWITCH on the electronic block to
turn the unit ON. You will hear a song, a friendly phrase and sounds. The light will flash with the sounds.

2. When using the electronic block alone, press the DOG BUTTON to hear a song, melody and a question. Flip up the DOOR to see the dog’s tail. Spin the CIRCLE to learn a number and shape. The light will flash with the sounds.
3. Stack the upper block on top of the electronic block. Depending on the side, you’ll learn about shapes, numbers and colors and meet two animals. The light will flash with the sounds.
4. Stack the electronic block on top of the lower block. Depending on the side, you’ll learn about numbers, colors and places and meet three animals. The light will flash with the sounds.

5. Stack the blocks. In a possible 24 combinations, you’ll hear different stories about animals and places. The light will flash with the sounds.
6. If there is no input for approximately 10 seconds, you will hear a tune, a phrase and a sound. If there continues to be no input for another 10 seconds, you will hear a song. If there is no input for an additional 10 seconds, you will hear a short tune and the unit will power down. The unit can be turned on again by pressing any button on the electronic block or by stacking the blocks or removing the stacked block.

CARE & MAINTENANCE
1. Keep the unit clean by wiping it with a slightly damp cloth.
2. Keep the unit out of direct sunlight and away from any direct heat source.
3. Remove the batteries when the unit will not be in use for an extended period of time.
4. Do not drop the unit on hard surfaces and do not expose the unit to moisture or water.
TROUBLESHOOTING
If for some reason the program/activity stops working or malfunctions, please follow these steps:
1. Please turn the unit
2. Interrupt the power supply by removing the batteries.
3. Let the unit stand for a few minutes, then replace the batteries.
4. Turn the unit
5. If the product still does not work, replace with a new set of batteries.
