INTRODUCTION
Thank you for purchasing the VTech® Sing & Discover Piano™ learning toy!
The VT ech® Sing & Discover Piano™ is an interactive musical learning toy for toddlers 12 months and up. Sing along to the tunes with the microphone as the equalizer light panel lights up in response to your voice. The brightly colored piano keys allow you to create your own tunes or add fun animal sounds into the pre-recorded melodies. Watch as the little puppy character strums his guitar along with the melodies.

wire ties and tags are not part of this toy, and should be discarded for your child’s safety.
GETTING STARTED
BATTERY INSTALLATION
1. Make sure the unit is turned OFF.
2. Locate the battery cover on the bottom of the unit. Use a coin or a screwdriver to loosen the screw.
3. Install 4 new “AA” (UM-3/LR6) batteries following the diagram inside the battery box. (The use of new alkaline batteries is recommended for maximum performance.)
4. Replace the battery cover and tighten the screw to secure the battery cover .
BATTERY NOTICE
Install batteries correctly observing the polarity ( +, - ) signs to avoid leakage.
Do not mix old and new batteries.
Do not use batteries of different types.
Remove exhausted or new batteries from the equipment when the unit will not be used for an extended period of time.

Do not dispose of batteries in fire.
Do not attempt to recharge ordinary batteries.
The supply terminals are not to be short-circuited.
Only batteries of the same and equivalent type as recommended are to be used.
WE DO NOT RECOMMEND THE USE OF RECHARGEABLE BATTERIES.
PRODUCT FEATURES
1. ON/OFF/VOLUME CONTROL SWITCH
To turn the unit ON, slide the ON/OFF/ VOLUME CONTROL SWITCH to the
LOW VOLUME ( ) or the HIGH VOLUME ( ) position. To turn the unit
OFF, slide the ON/OFF/ VOLUME CONTROL SWITCH to the OFF ( )
position.
2. DEMO TAB
Before initial use, please check to be sure that the demo tab located on the bottom cabinet has been removed. If the demo tab is not removed, the unit will continue to operate in the demo mode.
3. AUTOMATIC SHUT-OFF
To preserve battery life, the VTech® Sing & Discover Piano™ will automatically power-down after several minutes without input. The unit can be turned on again by pressing any button or by moving the joystick. Please note that using the microphone will not turn the unit on again.

4. THREE MODES OF PLAY
The three modes of play include Learning, Music and Piano. Press the mode buttons to select a mode.
ACTIVITIES
1. Press the MODE BUTTONS to select the mode.
Learning Mode: teaches numbers, colors and animals
Music Mode: introduces different music styles, animal
sounds and instrument sounds
Piano Mode: allows for the creation of original music compositions
Press the piano keys, drum pad, musical puppy and joystick to hear a response related to the selected mode. Y ou will hear different responses for each one based on the selected mode. The unit will automatically default to the Music Mode when first turned on.

2. Detach the MICROPHONE from the base and sing along to the melodies for a little role-play fun. When the MICROPHONE is inserted back into its position, it will automatically turn off.
3. Watch the MUSICAL PUPPY strum his guitar to the music.
4. The EQUALIZER LIGHT PANEL will light up in a variety of ways, in response to the sound output of the unit.
5. In the Music Mode, while a melody is playing, move around the JOYSTICK continuously to increase the tempo of the melody. When the JOYSTICK is held down in any direction while a melody is playing, the tempo of the melody will decrease.

6. In the Music Mode, while a melody is playing, press the PIANO KEYS to hear the related animal sound play overtop of the melody.
7. In the Piano Mode, press the PIANO KEYS to create a song. If the piano keys are pressed while a melody is playing, the melody will then be played one note at a time.

CARE & MAINTENANCE
1. Keep the unit clean by wiping it with a slightly damp cloth.
2. Keep the unit out of direct sunlight and away from any direct heat source.
3. Remove the batteries when the unit is not in use for an extended period of time.
4. Do not drop the unit on hard surfaces and do not expose the unit to moisture or water.
TROUBLESHOOTING
If for some reason the program/activity stops working, please follow these steps:
1. Please turn the unit OFF.
2. Interrupt the power supply by removing the batteries.
3. Let the unit stand for a few minutes, then replace the batteries.
4. Turn the unit ON. The unit should now be ready to play again.
