not part of this toy, and should be discarded for your child’s safety.
GETTING STARTED
BATTERY INSTALLATION
1. Make sure the unit is turned OFF.
2. Locate the battery cover on the bottom of the unit. Use a coin or screwdriver to loosen the screw.
3. Install 3 new "AA" (UM-3/ LR06) batteries following the diagram inside the battery box. (The use of new alkaline batteries is recommended for maximum performance.)
4. Replace the battery cover and tighten the screw to secure.
BATTERY NOTICE
Install batteries correctly observing the polarity (+, -) signs to avoid leakage.
Do not mix old and new batteries.
Do not mix batteries of different types: alkaline, standard (carbon-
zinc) or rechargeable (nickel-cadmium).
Getting Started

Remove batteries from the equipment when the unit will not be used for an extended for an extended period of time.
Always remove exhausted batteries from the equipment.
Do not dispose of battery in fire.
Do not attempt to recharge ordinary batteries.
The supply terminals are not to be short-circuited.
Only batteries of the same or equivalent type as recommended are to
be used.
WE DO NOT RECOMMEND THE USE OF RECHARGEABLE BATTERIES.

1. VOLUME CONTROL SWITCH
Locate the VOLUME CONTROL SWITCH on the bottom of the phone. To adjust the volume, switch to the LOW VOLUME ( )
or the HIGH VOLUME ( ) position.
2. ON/OFF BUTTON
To turn ON the unit, press the ON/OFF BUTTON. To turn OFF the unit, press the ON/OFF BUTTON again.

3. ACTIVITY SELECTOR
Slide the ACTIVITY SELECTOR to select one of the 5 activities, Number Fun, Finding Game, Watch the Lights, Shopping Fun or Music Magic.
4. STAR BUTTON
Press the STAR BUTTON to hear questions or the sung song depending on the activity selected.
5. 4 PRINCESS BUTTONS
Press the PRINCESS BUTTONS to hear the princesses identified or to hear one of their favorite songs depending on the activity selected.
6. HANDSET
Pick up the HANDSET to hear "Hello, may I help you?". Replace the HANDSET to hear "Goodbye."

7. PHONE BOOK
Turn to different pages to hear sound effects, or the princesses or phone list identified, depending on the activity selected. Use the phone book to call the stores or princesses in the "Shopping Fun" activity.
8. AUTOMATIC SHUT-OFF
To preserve battery life, the VTech® Dial 'n Learn Telephone will automatically power-down after around 2 minutes without any input. The telephone can be turned on again by pressing the ON/OFF
BUTTON.
ACTIVITIES
Press the ON/OFF BUTTON to turn on the unit and begin play.
Slide the ACTIVITY SELECTOR to select an activity.
NUMBER FUN
You will be asked to find a number on the phone. Press one of the 10 LIGHT-UP NUMBER/OBJECT BUTTONS to answer. If you answer incorrectly
3 times, a new question will be asked.
FINDING GAME
Press the STAR BUTTON to begin. You will be asked a question related to the princesses. Press one of the 10 LIGHT-UP NUMBER/OBJECT BUTTONS or the 4 PRINCESS BUTTONS to answer. If you answer incorrectly 3 times, a new question will be asked. Press the STAR BUTTON to hear a new question.

WATCH THE LIGHTS
A sequence of 3 lights will flash in a pattern. Watch carefully and press the LIGHT-UP NUMBER/OBJECT BUTTONS to copy the pattern. If you press the correct buttons, an extra light will be added to the sequence. Press the STAR BUTTON to see the light pattern again.
SHOPPING FUN
Call the stores and go shopping with the princesses! You will be asked to call one of the stores or dial the princesses' numbers to hear their favorite songs. Use the phone book and press the correct numbers to dial. Press the STAR BUTTON to hear another request.
MUSIC MAGIC
Listen to the 14 melodies by pressing the 10 LIGHT-UP NUMBER/OBJECT BUTTONS or the 4 PRINCESS BUTTONS. Press the STAR BUTTON to hear
the sung song.

SUNG SONG LYRICS
Let's play and learn on the princess phone. Dial the number, listen for a tone. You may even use the phone to call all of your friends. If the number's busy, you may call again.
CARE & MAINTENANCE
1. Keep the unit clean by wiping it with a slightly damp cloth.
2. Keep the unit out of direct sunlight and away from any direct heat source.
3. Remove the batteries when the unit is not in use for an extended period of time.
4. Do not drop the unit on hard surfaces and do not expose the unit to moisture or water.
TROUBLESHOOTING
If for some reason the program/activity stops working or malfunctions, please follow these steps:
1. Please turn the unit OFF.
2. Interrupt the power supply by removing the batteries.
3. Let the unit stand for a few minutes, then replace the batteries.
4. Turn the unit ON. The unit should now be ready to play again.
5. If the product still does not work, replace with a new set of batteries.
