WARNING: All packing materials, such as tape, plastic sheets, wire
ties and tags are not part of this toy, and should be discarded for your child’s safety.
BATTERY INSTALLATION
1. Make sure the unit is turned off.
2. Locate the battery cover on the back of the unit. Use a coin or scre wdriver to loosen the screw .
3. Install 3 new “AA” (UM-3/LR6) batteries following the diagram inside the battery box. (The use of new , alkaline batteries is recommended for maximum performance.)
4. Replace the battery cover and tighten the screw to secure the battery cover.

BATTERY NOTICE
Install batteries correctly observing the polarity ( +, - ) signs to avoid leakage.
Do not mix old and new batteries.
Do not use batteries of different types.
Remove exhausted or new batter ies from the equipment when the unit will not be used for an extended period of time.
Do not dispose of batteries in fire.
Do not attempt to recharge ordinary batteries.
The supply terminals are not to be short-circuited.
WE DO NOT RECOMMEND THE USE OF RECHARGEABLE BATTERIES.
NOTE: If for some reason the program/activity stops working, then please
follow these steps:
1.Please turn the unit off.
2.Interrupt the power supply by removing the batteries.
3.Let the unit stand for a fe w minutes, then replace the batteries.
4.Turn the unit on. The unit should now be ready to play again. If the problem persists, please call our Consumer Services
Department at 1-800-521-2010 in the U.S. or 1-800-267-7377 in Canada, and a service representative will be happy to help you.

TO BEGIN PLAY
1. T urn the On/Off Switch to the On ( ) Position to turn the unit on.
Note: The recording function (located on
the back of the unit) must be off to begin play.
2. Slide the Activity Selector to either the
Talking Activity ( ) or the Music Activity ( ). Musical notes will pla y
and the lights will blink.
3. T o adjust the volume , slide the V olume Control Switch located on the back of the unit to ( ) for Low V olume or ( ) for High V olume.

4. Press any button to begin play.
5. Turn the On/Off Selector to the Off ( ) Position to turn the unit off.
ACTIVITIES
A. Talking Activity
1. When the unit is on, slide the Activity Selector to the Talking Activity ( ).
Musical notes will play and the lights will blink.

2. Press any button to hear a spoken word identified. Lights will flash with the voice.

B. To Record a Personalized Message
1. Y ou ma y record your own personalized message. On the bac k of the unit, turn the Recording On/Off Switch to the On ( ) position. You will hear a short tune.

2. While pressing the Record Button, speak clearly into the microphone. The light on the back of the unit will light up for 5 seconds of recording. When the memory is full, the light will turn off and recording will stop.
3. Press the Baby Button on the front of the unit to hear your personalized message.
4. To record a new message, press the Reset Button and repeat the recording process.
5. Press the Reset Button on the back of the unit at any time to restore the built-in phrase.
Note: The recorded phrase will be erased when the battery is changed.

C. Music Activity
1. When the unit is on, slide the Activity Selector to the Music Activity ( ).
Musical notes will play and the lights will blink.
2. Press any button to hear a sound effect or melody. The stars will light up with all of the sounds.

AUTOMATIC SHUT-OFF
To preser ve batter y life, the VTECH® LITTLE SMART Baby Talk Discoveries™ learning toy will automatically turn off after 30 seconds
without input. If can be turned on again by pressing the on button.
CARE AND MAIN MAINTENANCE
1. Keep the unit clean by wiping it with a slightly damp cloth.
2. Keep the unit out of direct sunlight and away from any direct heat source.
3. Remove the batteries when the unit is not in use for an extended period of time.
4. Do not drop the unit on hard surfaces and do not expose the unit to moisture or water.

Note: This equipment generates and uses radio frequency energy and if not

How ever , there is no guarantee that interf erence will not occur in a particular installation. If this equipment does cause interference with radio or television reception, which can be determined by turning the equipment off and on, the user is encouraged to try to correct the interference by one or more of the following measures:
