This Desktop
Charger
enables
charging of Ni-Cd and
Ni-MH
Battery Pack* for Vertex Standard
transceivers.
This
Desktop
Charger
requires
the
optional
PA-43C/U
AC
Adapter.
Operation
1.
ReferringtoFigure1,insert
the
DC plug from
the
optional
PA-43C/U
AC
Adapter
into the DC
jack
on the
rear
panelofthe
CD-47
Desktop
Charger,
and
then
wind the DC
cable
of the PA-43C/U AC Adapter into
the
slit of
the
CD-47
Desktop
Chargertoprevent
the
DC plug from
disconnecting.
2. Plug
the
PA-43C/U AC
Adapter
into
the
AC line outlet.
3.
Insert
the
battery
pack
into
the
CD-47
Desktop
Charger
while aligning
the
slotsofthe
battery
pack
with
the
guidesinthe
nestofthe
CD-47
(refer to Figure 2 for details on proper positioning of the pack). Ifcharg
ing with
the
transceiver
attached,
turn
the
transceiver
off.
The
antenna
jack should be at the left
side
when
viewing the
charger
from the front.
Ifthe battery
pack
is inserted correctly, the LED indicator willglow red.
A fully-discharged
pack
will
charge
completely in 1.5 - 3.5 hours (de
pending on
the
battery being charged).
When
charging is completed, the LED indicator will
changetogreen.
Even ifthe charging is completed, the LED indicator will
sometimes
change
to red for trickle charging.
Disconnect
the
pack
from
the
CD-47
Desktop
Charger
and
unplug
the
PA-43ACAdapter
from the AC line outlet.

Use

Standard

connect
an
improper
AC
Adapter.

for
charging
only
the
Vertex

dard
designated
batteries.

battery
(one
not

designed

Disconnect
the
pack
from
the
CD-47
Desktop
Charger
and
un
plug
the
PA-43C/U AC
Adapter
from
the
AC line
outlet
when
chargingiscompleted.

The
CD-47
Desktop
Charger
and/or
PA-43C/U
AC
Adapter
will
generateamoderate
amountofheat
dur
ing
the
charging
process.
This
is a
normal
condition.
O This Desktop
Chargerisdesigned
for charging only and
is not
designed
for
operation
(transmit/receive) of the
transceiver.
O If
the
LED blinks red,
please
insert the battery again. If LED
continues
blinking red, a CD-47
Desktop
Charger
or a
battery
maybedefective.
Please
contact
your
Vertex
Standard
dealer.
O Periodically wipe
the
charging terminals in the
nest
in the CD-47 Desktop
Charger
using a dry
cloth to
ensure
good
connections
between
the
charger
and
battery.
^Caution!!
O
When
chargingabattery
pack
alone
(not
attachedtothe
transceiver),
do
not
allow
any
metal
objecttoshort
the
terminalsofthe
pack.
O Do not allow
any
metal objects to short the terminals in the
nest
of the
charger
stand,asa short-
circuit
could
cause
overheating
of the
charger
circuitry
and
electrical
hazard.
Wind
the
DC
cable
into
the slitofthe
CD-47
Desktop Charger.
