2. Safety Instructions

Do not crimp the power cord and protect it against
damage.
Warning! If the power cord is damaged, it must be
replaced by the manufacturer, its service agent, or
similarly qualified persons in order to avoid any hazard.
Make sure that the available voltage does not exceed
the voltage stated in the specifications of this manual.
Plug the power cord into a suitable, earthed mains
outlet.
Risk of electroshock when opening the cover.
Touching live wires can cause life-threatening
electroshocks. Do not disassemble or open the housing
yourself. Have the device repaired by qualified
personnel.
Do not operate the device with wet hands.
Always disconnect mains power when the device is not
in use or when servicing or maintenance activities are
performed. Handle the power cord by the plug only.
Caution! After switching off, leave the power cord
plugged in for a few minutes. When you switch off the
unit, the automatic cooling function blows cooling air
through the heater pipe for a short period. This
protects the heater from damage and extends its
lifetime. Do not disconnect the mains plug during this
cooling process.
Indoor use only. Keep this device away from rain,
moisture, splashing and dripping liquids. Never put
objects filled with liquids on top of or close to the
device.
Do not use near inflammable products or in explosive
atmospheres. Heat can cause fire to inflammable
products even when they are not in sight. Only use in
properly ventilated rooms.

Incorrect use may cause fire.
Do not touch the shafts, tips, or hot air gun as this can
cause serious burns. Keep the tips and hot air away
from the body, clothes, or other flammable material.
Do not aim the hot air gun at the eyes. Use gloves
and/or heat-resistant tools to pick up the PCB assembly
to prevent burns. Always return the irons and gun to
their stands between uses; always let the device cool
down after use and before storage.
Place the device on a level, stable, and fire resistant
working surface.
Do not inhale solder fumes. The vapours that are
released during soldering are harmful. Therefore, you
shall only use the soldering station in well-ventilated
areas or under an exhaust hood (solder fume
extractor). Dispose of fume filters and solder residue in
accordance with local regulations.
Never use the device on live electronic circuits. Make
sure power to the work piece is cut and capacitors are
discharged.
Do not block the hot air gun nozzle. This may cause
heat reflection and may damage the heating element.
Warning! This tool must be placed on its stand when
not in use; do not leave the tool unattended when
switched on.
Use the soldering iron on a heatproof workbench.
Place the soldering iron in its holder after use.
Let a hot soldering iron cool down naturally and do not immerse in
water.
3. General Guidelines

Protect this device from shocks and abuse. Avoid brute force when
operating the device.
Keep this device away from rain, moisture, splashing and dripping
liquids.
Familiarise yourself with the functions of the device before actually
using it.
All modifications of the device are forbidden for safety reasons.
Damage caused by user modifications to the device is not covered
by the warranty.
Only use the device for its intended purpose. Using the device in
an unauthorised way will void the warranty.
Damage caused by disregard of certain guidelines in this manual
is not covered by the warranty and the dealer will not accept
responsibility for any ensuing defects or problems.
Nor Velleman nor its dealers can be held responsible for any
damage (extraordinary, incidental or indirect) – of any nature
(financial, physical…) arising from the possession, use or failure of
this product.
4. How to solder
File off any dirt, rust or paint on the parts you wish to solder.
Heat the parts with the soldering iron.
Apply resin-based solder to the part and melt it with the soldering
iron.
NOTE: Be sure to apply a solder paste to the part before applying
non resin-based solder.
Wait for the solder to cool and harden before moving the soldered
part.
CAUTION: Handle a heated soldering iron with extreme care as
the high temperatures may cause burns.
The soldering iron may produce smoke at first use due to a dried
out heating element.
This is normal and should only last for approx. 10 minutes.
Never file the soldering tip.
Use a soldering iron stand in order to avoid burns.
The temperature of the soldering iron will drop if it is used without
the tip.
Let the soldering iron cool after use.
The mains cable of this device should not be replaced. Discard the
device if the power cable has been damaged.

5. Operation
Make sure the iron tip is tightly fixed. Make sure that the available
voltage does not exceed the voltage stated in the specifications of
this manual and connect the soldering iron to the mains.
Select the output power (30W or 60W) and let the soldering iron
heat.
Tin the iron tip by applying some rosin core solder. Heat the
connecting points (not the solder) and apply some solder to the
heated parts. Remove the soldering iron and let the solder cool.
Clean the tip after each solder job by briefly brushing the tip onto
a damp sponge.
Place the soldering iron in its holder, switch off and unplug from
the mains after use.

GEBRUIKERSHANDLEIDING
1. Inleiding

Dit symbool op het toestel of de verpakking geeft aan
dat, als het na zijn levenscyclus wordt weggeworpen, dit
toestel schade kan toebrengen aan het milieu. Gooi dit
toestel (en eventuele batterijen) niet bij het gewone
huishoudelijke afval; het moet bij een gespecialiseerd
bedrijf terechtkomen voor recyclage. U moet dit toestel
naar uw verdeler of naar een lokaal recyclagepunt
brengen. Respecteer de plaatselijke milieuwetgeving.
Hebt u vragen, contacteer dan de plaatselijke autoriteiten
betreffende de verwijdering.
Dank u voor uw aankoop! Lees deze handleiding grondig voor u het
toestel in gebruik neemt. Werd het toestel beschadigd tijdens het

De voedingskabel mag niet beschadigd zijn of ingekort
worden.
Waarschuwing! Indien de voedingskabel beschadigd
is, dan moet deze door de fabrikant, diens
servicedienst, of een gelijkwaardig bekwaam persoon
vervangen worden om gevaar te voorkomen.
De beschikbare netspanning mag niet hoger zijn dan de
spanning in de specificaties achteraan de handleiding.
Steek de stekker in een geschikt, geaard stopcontact.
Elektrocutiegevaar bij het openen van het toestel.
Raak geen kabels aan die onder stroom staan om
dodelijke elektrische schokken te vermijden. Open de
behuizing niet zelf. Laat het onderhoud van het toestel
over aan een geschoolde vakman.
Bedien het toestel nooit met natte handen.
Trek de stekker uit het stopcontact wanneer het toestel
niet in gebruik is of voordat u het toestel reinigt. Houd
de voedingskabel altijd vast bij de stekker en niet bij de
kabel.
Opgelet! Laat na het uitschakelen de voedingskabel
aangesloten gedurende enkele minuten. Bij het
uitschakelen, blaast de automatische koelfunctie
kortstondig koude lucht door het verwarmingselement.
Dit beschermt het toestel tegen materiële schade en
wordt de levensduur verlengd. Ontkoppel het toestel
niet tijdens het afkoelingsproces.
Gebruik het toestel enkel binnenshuis. Bescherm
dit toestel tegen regen, vochtigheid en opspattende
vloeistoffen. Plaats nooit objecten gevuld met vloeistof
op of naast het toestel.
Vermijd gebruik in de buurt van brandbare producten of
explosieve gassen. Hitte kan brandbare stoffen doen
ontbranden, ook al zijn deze stoffen niet zichtbaar.
Gebruik enkel in een goed geventileerde ruimte.

Bij verkeerd gebruik ontstaat brandgevaar.
Raak de schacht, de stift of het heteluchtpistool nooit
aan; u kunt ernstige brandwonden oplopen. Houd de
stift en warme lucht uit de buurt van het lichaam,
kleding of ander brandbaar materiaal. Richt het
heteluchtpistool niet op de ogen. Gebruik handschoenen
en/of hittebestendig gereedschap om de PCBassemblage vast te nemen; zo voorkomt u
brandwonden. Plaats na gebruik de bout en het
luchtpistool altijd terug in de houder en laat afkoelen
alvorens op te bergen.
Plaats het toestel op een vlak, stabiel en hittebestendig
oppervlak.
Adem de vrijgekomen dampen nooit in. De gassen die
tijdens het solderen ontstaan zijn schadelijk. Daarom
mag u enkel solderen in goed geventileerde ruimtes of
onder een geschikte afzuiging. Gooi rookfilters en
soldeerresidu weg volgens de plaatselijke
milieuwetgeving.
Gebruik dit toestel nooit op een elektronisch circuit
onder spanning. Schakel eerst de voeding van het
circuit uit en ontlaad alle condensatoren.
Zorg ervoor dat het mondstuk van het heteluchtpistool
niet wordt geblokkeerd. Dit kan warmtereflectie
veroorzaken en het verwarmingselement beschadigen.
Waarschuwing! Dit gereedschap moet in de houder
geplaatst worden indien het niet gebruikt wordt; laat
het niet onbeheerd achter wanneer het ingeschakeld is.
Gebruik de soldeerbout op een hittebestendig oppervlak.
Plaats de soldeerbout na gebruik in de houder.
Laat de punt op een natuurlijke wijze afkoelen en dompel de
soldeerbout nooit in water.

3. Algemene richtlijnen
Raadpleeg de Velleman® service- en kwaliteitsgarantie
achteraan deze handleiding.
Bescherm tegen schokken. Vermijd brute kracht tijdens de
bediening.
Bescherm het toestel tegen regen, vochtigheid en opspattende
vloeistoffen.
Leer eerst de functies van het toestel kennen voor u het gaat
gebruiken.
Om veiligheidsredenen mag u geen wijzigingen aanbrengen.
Schade door wijzigingen die de gebruiker heeft aangebracht aan
het toestel valt niet onder de garantie.
Gebruik het toestel enkel waarvoor het gemaakt is. De garantie
vervalt automatisch bij ongeoorloofd gebruik.
De garantie geldt niet voor schade door het negeren van bepaalde
richtlijnen in deze handleiding en uw dealer zal de
verantwoordelijkheid afwijzen voor defecten of problemen die hier
rechtstreeks verband mee houden.
Noch Velleman nv noch zijn verdelers kunnen aansprakelijk
gesteld worden voor schade (buitengewoon, incidenteel of
onrechtstreeks) – van welke aard dan ook (financieel, fysisch…)
voortvloeiend uit het bezit, gebruik of falen van dit product.
4. Hoe te solderen
Verwijder alle vuiligheid, roest en verf op de te solderen
onderdelen.
Verhit de te solderen onderdelen met de soldeerbout.
Breng soldeer met harskern aan de onderdelen en smelt het
soldeer met de soldeerbout.
OPMERKING: Breng eerste een beetje soldeerpasta aan op de
component als u soldeer zonder harskern gebruikt.
Wacht tot het soldeer verhardt alvorens de onderdelen te
bewegen.
OPGELET: Wees voorzichtig bij het hanteren van een
ingeschakelde soldeerbout om ernstige brandwonden te
vermijden.
Bij het eerste gebruik kan de soldeerbout lichtjes roken te wijten
aan een uitgedroogd verwarmingselement.
Dit is normaal en houdt op na ongeveer 10 minuten.

Vijl de soldeerpunt nooit bij.
Gebruik een soldeerbouthouder om brandwonden te vermijden.
De temperatuur van de soldeerbout daalt indien u hem gebruikt
zonder de punt.
Na gebruik moet u de soldeerbout laten afkoelen.
U mag de voedingskabel van dit toestel niet vervangen. Gooi het
toestel weg indien de voedingskabel werd beschadigd.
Dit toestel is niet geschikt voor gebruik door personen (kinderen
inbegrepen) met verminderde fysieke, zintuiglijke of geestelijke
capaciteiten of gebrek aan ervaring en kennis, tenzij zij onder
toezicht staan of instructie hebben gekregen over het gebruik van
het toestel van een persoon die verantwoordelijk is voor hun
veiligheid.
Houd toezicht op kinderen om te voorkomen dat ze met het
apparaat spelen.
Reiniging en onderhoud mogen niet worden uitgevoerd door
kinderen zonder toezicht.
5. Gebruik
Zorg ervoor dat de punt stevig in de bout vastzit. Controleer of de
beschikbare netspanning niet hoger is dan de spanning in de
specificaties (achteraan handleiding) en koppel de soldeerbout aan
het lichtnet.
Selecteer het uitgangsvermogen (30W of 60W) en laat de
soldeerbout opwarmen.
Breng een beetje soldeer met flux aan de tip. Verhit de
aansluitpunten (niet het soldeer) en breng een beetje soldeer aan
de verhitte delen. Verwijder de soldeerbout en laat het soldeer
afkoelen. Maak de punt na elk gebruik schoon door hem eventjes
over een vochtige spons te strijken.
Plaats de soldeerbout in de houder, schakel hem uit en ontkoppel
van het lichtnet.
