device into service.
The VLD50CM features a built-in microphone for the dynamic music-controlled movement of
colourful beams.
Make sure that the device was not damaged in transit. If the device is damaged, you should
contact your dealer and postpone installation of this device.

2. Safety Instructions

Be very careful when installing the device : touching
live wires can cause life-threatening electroshocks.

• A qualified technician should install and service this device.

• Damage caused by disregarding certain guidelines in this manual is not covered by the

warranty and the dealer will not accept responsibility for the ensuing defects or problems.

• Do not switch the device on immediately if it has been exposed to changes in temperature.
Protect the device against damage by leaving it switched off until it has reached room
temperature.

• This device falls under protection class I. It is essential, therefore, that the device be earthed.
A qualified person must carry out the electric connection.

• Make sure that the available voltage does not exceed the voltage stated in the specifications
of this manual.

• Do not crimp the power cord and protect it against damage from sharp edges. Ask an
authorised dealer to replace the cord if necessary.

• Always disconnect the device from the mains when it is not in use or when you wish to clean
it. Only handle the power cord by the plug. Never pull out the plug by tugging the power cord.

• Do not look directly into the light source as sensitive people may go into epileptic seizure if
they do.

• Note that damage caused by user modifications to the device is not covered by the warranty.
Keep the device away from children and unauthorised users.

3. General Guidelines

• This device is a light effect for professional use on stages, in discos, theatres, etc. This
device should only be operated with an alternating current of max. 230Vac/50Hz and is
designed for indoor use only.

• This device is not designed for uninterrupted operation. Frequent operation breaks will
prolong the life of your VDL50CM.

• Do not shake the device. Avoid brute force when installing or operating the device.

• Select a location where the device will be protected against extreme heat, moisture and dust.

Respect a min. distance of 50cm between the VDL50CM’s light output and the illuminated
surface

• Secure the device with an appropriate safety cable (VDLSC7 or VDLSC8).

• Do not use the device if the ambient temperature exceeds 45°C. The max. temperature for

the housing is 130°C.

• Familiarise yourself with the functions of the device before actually using it. Do not permit
operation by unqualified people. Any damage that may occur will probably be due to
unprofessional use of the device.

• Use the original packaging if the device is to be transported.

• Note that all modifications of the device are forbidden for safety reasons.

• Only use the device for its intended purpose. All other uses may lead to short-circuits, burns,

electroshocks, lamp explosion, crash, etc. Using the device in an unauthorised way will void
the warranty.

4. Installation
a) Installing or Replacing a Lamp

CAUTION : Only install a lamp when the device is unplugged from the mains and replace it if it

has been damaged in any way.

• The lamps can reach temperatures of up to 700°C during operation, so you should let them
cool down for at least 10 minutes before replacing them

• Do not touch the halogen bulbs with your bare hands. Use a cloth to handle the lamps during
insertion and removal.

• Do not install lamps with a higher wattage as they generate higher temperatures than those
for which the device is designed.

• Use one 12V/50W JDC G6.35 lamp with reference LAMP50MF.

Procedure

1. Unscrew the cap on the front panel (immediately beneath the lens).

2. Pull the ring containing the lens towards you.

3. Remove the old lamp and insert the new one.

4. Carefully push the ring back into place.

5. Fasten the cover.

Note : Do not operate the device with an open cover!!

b) Replacing the Fuse

If a lamp burns out, chances are this will also happen with the fuse on the rear panel. Only
replace the fuse with an identical one (see “7. Technical Specifications”). Unplug the device
from the mains before replacing the fuse.
Install one 5 x 20mm fuse (1A/250Vac) with reference FU1N.

Procedure

1. Unscrew the cover of the fuse compartment on the rear panel.

2. Remove the old fuse and replace it with a new one with the same technical specifications.

3. Replace the cover of the fuse compartment and screw it down.

c) Mounting the Device

Remark : Please consider the contents of EN 60598-2-17 and your own national norms during

installation. A qualified technician should carry out the installation!

• The supporting structure for the device must be able to carry 10 times the required weight for
one hour without deformation of that structure.

• The installation must always be secured by a secondary safety attachment e.g. a safety
cable (VDLSC7 or VDLSC8).

• Do not stand directly below the device when mounting, removing or servicing it. Have a
qualified technician check the installation once a year and once before you bring the device
into service.

Procedure

• Install the device in a location with few passers-by that is inaccessible to unauthorised
persons.

• Overhead mounting requires extensive experience : calculating work load limits, determining
the installation material to be used… Have the material and the device itself checked
regularly. Do not attempt to install the device yourself if you lack these qualifications as
improper installation may result in injuries.

• Make sure there is no flammable material within a 50cm radius of the device.

• A qualified electrician should carry out the electric connection.

• Connect the device to the mains with the power plug. In general, lighting effects should not

be connected to dimming packs.

• The installation has to be approved by an expert before the device is taken into service.

• You will find a selector on the back panel. Three operation modes are available : music-

controlled, continuous rotation or static operation. When you select music-controlled
operation, you can adjust the sound sensitivity of the built-in microphone with the knob on the
rear panel. Adjust the sensitivity until the movement of the beams is satisfactory.

5. Cleaning and Maintenance

1. All screws should be tightened and free of corrosion.

2. The housing, mounting supports and connections should not be modified or tampered with
e.g. do not drill extra holes in mounting supports, do not change the location of the
connections, …

3. The electric power supply cables should be undamaged. Have this device installed by a
qualified technician.

4. Mechanically moving parts must not show any signs of wear and tear.

6. Caution

• Disconnect the device from the mains prior to maintenance.

• Use a moist cloth to clean the device and avoid the use of alcohol or solvents for cleaning

purposes.

• This device does not contain any user-serviceable parts with the exception of the lamps.
Refer to “a) Installing or Replacing a Lamp” under “4. Installation” for further details.

• Spare parts should be ordered with your local dealer.

2. Veiligheidsinstructies

Wees voorzichtig bij de installatie : raak geen kabels aan die onder
stroom staan om dodelijke elektroshocks te vermijden.

Raak het toestel niet aan wanneer het in gebruik is want de behuizing wordt warm.

• Laat het toestel installeren en onderhouden door een geschoold technicus.

• De garantie geldt niet voor schade die werd veroorzaakt door het negeren van de richtlijnen

in deze handleiding en uw dealer zal de verantwoordelijkheid afwijzen voor defecten of
problemen die hier rechtstreeks verband mee houden.

• U mag het toestel niet onmiddellijk inschakelen indien het werd blootgesteld aan

temperatuurschommelingen. Om beschadiging te vermijden, moet u wachten tot het toestel
kamertemperatuur heeft bereikt.

• Dit toestel valt onder beschermingsklasse I, wat wil zeggen dat het toestel geaard moet zijn.

Een geschoold technicus moet de elektrische aansluiting verzorgen.

• De beschikbare spanning mag niet hoger zijn dan de spanning die wordt vermeld in de

specificaties.

• De voedingskabel mag niet worden gekrimpt of beschadigd door scherpe voorwerpen. Laat

uw dealer een nieuwe voedingskabel aanbrengen indien nodig.

• Ontkoppel het toestel voor u het reinigt en wanneer het niet in gebruik is. Raak de voedingskabel

enkel aan via de plug en trek nooit aan de voedingskabel om de plug los te koppelen.

• Kijk niet rechtstreeks in de lichtbron. De lichtbron kan bij sommige mensen leiden tot een

aanval van epilepsie.

• Schade veroorzaakt door wijzigingen die de klant heeft aangebracht aan het toestel vallen

niet onder de garantie. Houd dit toestel uit de buurt van kinderen en onbevoegden.

3. Algemene richtlijnen

• Dit toestel is een lichteffect voor professioneel podiumgebruik in disco's, theaters, enz. U

mag dit toestel enkel gebruiken met een AC stroom van max. 230Vac/50Hz en de VDL50CM
is enkel geschikt voor gebruik binnenshuis.

• Dit toestel is niet geschikt voor langdurig gebruik zonder onderbreking. De levensduur van

uw VDL50CM verhoogt indien u geregeld een pauze inlast.

• Schud het toestel niet dooreen. Vermijd brute kracht tijdens de installatie en de bediening

van dit toestel.

• Installeer het toestel op een plaats waar het niet wordt gehinderd door stof, extreme

temperaturen en grote hitte. Zorg voor een minimumafstand van 50 cm tussen de lichtuitgang
van het toestel en het oppervlak waarop u wilt projecteren.

• Maak het toestel vast met een geschikte veiligheidskabel (vb. VDLSC7 of VDLSC8).

• Gebruik het toestel niet indien de omgevingstemperatuur > 45°C. De max. temperatuur voor

de behuizing is 130°C.

• Maak u eerst vertrouwd met de werking van dit toestel. Ongeschoolde personen mogen dit

toestel niet gebruiken. Meestal is beschadiging het gevolg van onprofessioneel gebruik.

• Gebruik de oorspronkelijke verpakking wanneer u het toestel vervoert.

• Om veiligheidsredenen mag de gebruiker geen wijzigingen aanbrengen aan het toestel.

• Gebruik het toestel enkel voor de toepassingen die hier worden beschreven om

kortsluitingen, brandwonden, elektroshocks, gevaar voor ontploffing van de lampen, enz. te
vermijden. Het toestel kan worden beschadigd en de garantie vervalt automatisch indien u
het toestel op een ongeoorloofde manier gebruikt.

4. Installatie

a) Lamp inbrengen of vervangen

OPGELET : Breng enkel een lamp in wanneer het toestel niet is aangesloten op het lichtnet en

vervang elke beschadigde lamp.

• Tijdens de werking van het toestel kan de temperatuur van de lampen oplopen tot 700°C.

Laat de lampen daarom gedurende minstens 10 minuten afkoelen voor u ze vervangt.

• Raak de halogeenlampen niet aan met uw blote handen. Gebruik een propere doek om de

lampen in te brengen en te verwijderen.

• Installeer nooit een lamp met een hogere wattage omdat ze hogere temperaturen genereren

dan die waarvoor het toestel geschikt is.

• Gebruik één JDC G6.35 lamp (12V/50W) met ordercode LAMP50MF.

Procedure

1. Schroef het frontpaneel los net onder de lens.

2. Trek de ring met de lens erin naar u toe.

3. Verwijder de oude lamp en breng de nieuwe in.

4. Duw de ring met de lens voorzichtig weer op z’n plaats.

5. Schroef het deksel dicht.
Opmerking : Gebruik het toestel niet zolang het deksel niet is vastgeschroefd!!

b) Zekering vervangen

Wanneer een lamp springt, is het heel goed mogelijk dat de zekering op het achterpaneel ook
moet worden vervangen. Gebruik enkel een zekering met identieke specificaties (zie “7.
Technische Specificaties”). Ontkoppel het toestel van het lichtnet voor u de zekering vervangt.
Installeer één 5 x 20mm zekering (1A/250Vac) met de ordercode FU1N.

Procedure

1. Schroef het deksel van de zekeringhouder op het achterpaneel los.

2. Verwijder de oude zekering en breng een nieuwe in met dezelfde technische specificaties als

de oude zekering.

3. Breng het deksel weer op zijn plaats en schroef het compartiment stevig dicht.
