VEC-603 6 Meter Antenna Tuner
General Information
The VEC-603 6 Meter Antenna Tuner for The Magic Band gives you low SWR
with practically any coax fed antenna -- mobile whips, dipoles, verticals, vees,
random wires, beams.
With low SWR, your rig will be more efficient; you'll get more power out of
your 6 meter tranceiver and into your antenna for more DX, it will run cooler
and last longer, and your expensive tranceiver will be protected from
overheating due to high SWR.
The VEC-603 handles 100 Watts FM and 200 Watts SSB PEP. It works with
ALL solid state and tube rigs and is perfect for home and mobile stations.
Installation
The VEC-603 installs between your 6 meter tranceiver and your antenna. An
external Power/SWR meter is necessary for proper operation of the VEC-603.
Connect your 6 meter transceiver to your Power/SWR meter. Then connect the
Power/SWR meter to the TRANSMITTER SO-239 of the VEC-603. The coax
from the antenna is then connected to the ANTENNA SO-239 of the VEC-603.
Operation
1. Set TRANSMIITER and ANTENNA controls to 5 (capacitors half opened).
2. Apply enough transmitter po wer to give a n ade qua te ind ica tion o n your SW R
meter. Do not apply full power while tuning for minimum SWR!
3. Referring to your external Power/SWR meter, adjust the TRANSMITTER
control for a drop in SWR.
4. Adjust the ANTENNA control until minimum SWR is achieved.
Note
: Since the TRANSMITTER and ANTENNA controls interact, they must
be adjusted alternately until minimum SWR is obtained.
5. After minimum SWR is achieved, check output power with a voltmeter,
relative power meter or with an antenna current meter. Tune the ANTENNA
tuner for maximu m power out put; make sure SWR is at minimum.
