Information and advice.
Notes for the use of air-conditioners
The Saphir comfort IR air conditioning unit is designed for
–
minimal power consumption. Nevertheless, you should
check before taking the system into operation whether the
camping site has adequate fuses (min. 4.2 A).
As far as possible, park your vehicle in the shade.
–
Safety instructions
Repairs may only be carried out by properly qualified
professionals!
To avoid damage during transport, the device must only be
dispatched after discussion with the Dometic Service.
The voltage must be disconnected at all poles before the
housing is opened.
The appliance fuse, 230 V / 240 V, 3.15 A (slow-acting, IEC 127)
is located on the electronic control unit in the device, and may
only be replaced by a fuse of the same design.
Appliance fuses and connection leads may only be replaced
by a properly qualified person.
Guarantee claims, warranty claims and acceptance of liability
will be ruled out in the event of the following:
modifications to the unit (including accessories),
–
failure to use original Truma parts as replacement parts and
–
accessories,
failure to follow the installation and operating instructions.
–
The refrigeration circuit contains R 407C coolant and may only
be opened by the Dometic Service.
The cool air outflow and the ambient air suction intake must
not on any account be obstructed. Please bear this in mind in
order to ensure the trouble-free operation of your device.
Darkening the interior with window blinds and / or a roof
–
awning will reduce the penetration of radiant heat.
Clean the roof of the vehicle regularly (dirty roofs heat up
–
more readily).
Before operating the device, ventilate your vehicle thor-
–
oughly, in order to allow the hot air which builds up inside
to escape.
Take care when putting up awnings or similar that there
–
are sufficient openings for the supply air to be discharged.
The opening for the hot discharge air should not be on the
intake side.
To create a healthy environment on the inside of the vehicle,
–
the difference between the inside and outside temperatures
should not be selected as too great. During operation the
circulated air will be purified and dried. Due to the drying of
the moist, humid air, a pleasant environment will be created
inside even with slight temperature differences.
Keep the doors and windows closed while the cooling sys-
–
tem is in operation.
The apertures beneath the vehicle floor must be kept free of
dirt and snow slush. The apertures must not be located within
the area subject to spray from the wheels or mudguards.
Splash protection must be provided if necessary.
If the floor of the vehicle is provided with underfloor protec-
tion, all the apertures beneath the vehicle must be covered in
order to prevent the spray created from penetrating the device
and causing malfunctions. Once the work has been completed the covers can be removed again.
In order to avoid damage to the compressor, when the device
is in operation during transit (for example, with the generator or voltage transformer working), do not attempt uphill or
downhill gradients of more than 8 %.
Do not allow cooling operation to run for extended periods in
a tilted position, since the condensation water which forms
may not be able to run off, and in the worst scenario might
penetrate into the vehicle.

Operating instructions
Always observe the opera ting instructions and “Safety
instructions” prior to starting! The vehicle owner is respon-
sible for the correct operation of the appliance!
Remote control
Switching off
To switch off, press the button “g” on the remote control
once again. To confirm the signal the green monitoring light
will go out.
If the air conditioning unit is switched on again within
approximately 3 minutes, the green indicator lamp blinks.
Only the fan runs at first, and the compressor starts up after a
certain delay time.

Taking into operation
Before switching on, it is essential to make sure that the fuse
system for the power supply at the camp site is sufficient for
980 W (230 V / 240 V – at least 4.2 A).
In order to prevent the power cable for the caravan from
overheating (minimum cross-section 3 x 2.5 mm²) the
cable drum must be fully unwound.
Timer
By using the integrated timer, the system can be programmed
in advance to switch on or off automatically up to 15 hours

after the current time. It is not possible to pre-program the
system to a specific point in time.

To carry out programming, first switch the device to
remote control mode with the switch “g”.

Then set the desired operational mode and ambient tempera-

ture with the buttons “a”, “b”, and “c”.

Then select the desired function (k) with the button
“e” (TIMER):

ON to switch on,
OFF to switch off.
The arrow (j) will flash and shows the setting mode. After this,
select the desired switching time (1 to 15 hours) by using the
buttons SET (c).
If ON (switch on) is selected, the device must be switched off
again at the remote control after the adjustment procedure.
The yellow monitor light on the receiver will flash to confirm
that programming has taken place.
If OFF (switch off) is selected, the yellow light on the receiver
will flash and confirm that programming has taken place. After
this, do not switch the device off with the remote control.
To help save the batteries in the remote control, it is
possible (after OFF programming) to cover the infra-red
transmitter with the hand, and then switch off the remote
control. This means that no signal will be sent to the device,
and the programming will be retained.
Emergency On / Off
To carry out the individual switching commands, the remote
control must always be pointed at the infra-red receiver.
1. Switch the Saphir comfort IR on using button “g” on the
remote control. The previous operating mode that was selected using the remote control is automatically used.
2. Set the desired operating mode using the button “a”.
FAN: Ventilation only (without cooling).
COMFORT: Cooling.
The blowing power and the interior temperature can be adjusted individually. The green monitor light in the receiver indicates that the compressor is in operation and therefore that
cooling operation is in progress.
3. If required, use the buttons “b” and “c” to set the desired
blowing power and interior temperature.
The arrow (h) shows the setting mode which has been
selected.
When the room temperature that was selected using the
remote control is reached in cooling mode, the compressor
switches off and the green indicator lamp in the receiver goes
out. The circulation fan continues to run in order to provide
ventilation. If the room temperature is exceeded the device
automatically reverts to cooling mode.

There is an additional pushbutton on the receiver (m), with
which the unit can also be switched on and off without the
remote control (e.g. with a ballpoint pen).
