Tripp Lite’s Emergency Power Off (EPO) makes it possible to shut down
UPS systems quickly from a remote location during fires, floods or other
unexpected crises. It is designed to allow the connection of a user-supplied
contact closure on/off switch to an RS-232 cable running between a computer and an SU1000RT2U or SU2200RT2U UPS with a serial number that
ends in “C1”*.
* Your UPS’s 13-digit serial number appears on a label with a bar code on the back of the unit. Units with serial
numbers that end in “00” are not compatible with the EPO.

Connection
Your EPO has one RJ11 connector and two serial connectors. The serial
connector that has two cables emerging from it plugs into the RS-232 port
of your UPS (see UPS owner’s manual for location). The serial connector
that has one cable emerging from it plugs into your computer’s serial port.
The RJ11 connector should be connected to your user-supplied contact
closure on/off switch. Bridge the center pins (pins 2 & 3—see diagram ) of
this connector to cause your UPS to shut down immediately.
