In most areas, but not all, the sum of the RENs of all devices connected to one line should not exceed five (5.0B). To be certain of the number of devices you may connect to your line, as determined by the REN, you should contact your local telephone company to as certain the maximum R EN for your calling area.
4. Network connection information Univer sal Service Order Code (USOC) jack required: RJ11C, RJ21X .
5. Facility Interface Code (FIC): 02LS2
6. Service Order Code (SOC): 9.0F
Radio Frequency Interference

This checklist only highlights important installation information. Please reference the Stratagy IVP8 or Stratagy DK Inst allation Guide for details on programming individual features, etc.
these instructions, references to Stratagy apply to both the Stratagy DK (Release 3.3) and Stratagy IVP8 products.
CAUTION! After making any significant program changes to the Stratagy, it is recommended the system be
properly shut down and restarted. This copies the most current database to the C:\Stratagy\Archive\Good directory for use by the Automatic System Recovery feature (see
“Automatic System Recovery” on page 42 in the Stratagy IVP8 or

Whenever handling Stratagy, always wear the anti-static wrist strap (included); keep the strap by the unit.
Always hold the unit by its edges. Remember that an electrostatic charge from your body, even your own
body oils can damage the Stratagy.
Never drop or jar the Stratagy! Care should be taken whenever handling the unit. Temperature changes greater than 20°F cause condensation on Stratagys hard drive. If there is such a
temperature variation, wait 24 hours before installation.
Always keep the Stratagy in its individual shipping box until its time to install it in the Strata CTX. Never transport the Stratag y inside the Strata CTX.

Stratagy is compatible with all Strata CTXs. Strata CTX needs to recognize Stratagy’s DTMF signaling. An ARCS card must be insta lled i n the Strata CTX100 for this DTMF signaling. S tr ata CTX670 allows four DTMF circuits in its default configuration.
Install and program an ARCS card in the Strata CTX100. When installed, the ARCS card by default allows
four circuits. Additional licenses may be required, depending upon the Strata CTX configuration and applications.

The Stratagy IVP8 requires Stratagy Admin software, installed on a separate IBM-compatible
Stratagy Admin PC, for local or remote administration and maintenance.
Voice mail integration is provided by Strata CTX or Strata DK in-band (DTMF) integration.
Strata CTX, DK424i, DK424 and DK280 can also provide integration using the Simplified
Message Desk Interface (SMDI) out put of t he BSI S, PIOU, PI OUS, RSSU, RSIU, or RSIS SMDI
port.

Hardware

The Stratagy IVP8 consists of a flash drive with approximately four hours of storage, an internal
modem, a status light, and eight voice p orts wi th cor respo nding voi ce por t sta tus li ghts ( see Figure
1).
The Stratagy IVP8s two serial ports are allocated as follows: Seri al Port 1 is reserved for SMDI
and Port 2 for the Stratagy Admin PC connection.

Users Menu – Options Screen

You should note the differ ences between the Stratagy IVP8’s User Menu – Options screen ( s hown
below with sample data) and the Options screen supported by the other Stratagy systems:
The DSS Port field replaces the Alternate Rate feature that is not available with the
Stratagy IVP8. See “DSS Port” on page 5 for details.
The Message Volume feature, although displayed on the screen, is not supported by the
Stratagy IVP8.

Important! If the dss_active paramete r in the install.cfg file is set to false, this field is disabled.

The
programming. Simply put, the Stratagy IVP8 assumes that the programming of the DSS con sole is
fixed and cannot be changed. The Stratagy IVP8 always identifies key 01 of the DSS console as
port 000. So if a port ot her than 000 is programmed under key 01, the
DSS Port field for that
corresponding mailbox is “000.”
Example
Let’s say that a programmer ha s changed key 0 1 in Program 29 ( Str ata DK424i/DK42 4) to provi de
BLF indication for port 023, and the extension associated for that port, which by default is
extension 223, has a corres pond ing mailb ox in the S t ratagy IVP8. If the Stratagy IVP8 is expected
to monitor busy activity for this extension, the DSS Port setting for Mailbox 223 would be 023.
Possible values: 0~57, -1 disables feature
Default: -1
Important! Once the DSS/Busy Lamp feature has been programmed using the console_slot_id
and dss_active para meters and the DSS Port field, Strata gy IVP8 must be re-started two times. The first re-start configures the DSS paramet ers/fie ld. The second r e-s tart loads the DSS parameters/field into active memory.

AMIS Networking

AMIS Networking
As more advanced features have been added to the DOS®-based Stratagy systems, memory
managemen t has become a critical issue in software d evelopment. Because of this, TAIS/TSD
looks toward feature interaction as a way to create more operating system memory when
developing new features. With the addition of the Call Record feature to the DOS-based products
with Release 3.3 software, the number of default Audio Messaging Interchange Specification
(AMIS) networking nodes has bee n reduced to 200. In additi on, further res triction to the numbe r of
AMIS networking nodes will be required to support Stratagy DK systems with multi-lingual
prompts.
The fewer AMIS nodes the s ystem is configured for, the more operating system memory is
available for other feat ures. The S trat agy syst ems res erve en ough oper atin g syste m memory t o run
the number of AMIS nodes specified in the amis_max_nodes parameter i n the Stratagy System
Configuration. Additionally, a system using more features and a higher configuration requires
more operating system memory. For example, an eight port Stratagy DK system with a high
amount of call traffic using the new Call R ecord feature requires more operating system memory
than a system with fewer ports and/or less traffic. Multi-lin gual prompts have been speci fically
identified as a feat ure that requires a reducti on in the nu mber of AMIS no des to increa se Operati ng
System (OS) memory for proper system operation.
Due to the number of feature configurations possible in a Stratagy system, it is not possible for
TAIS/TSD to accurately identify the correct number of AMIS nodes in each case. If the system
you are working on runs ou t of OS memory, the failure causes the s yst em to c ontinu ally reboot . To
correct this, the number of AMIS nodes must be reduced.
