ThismachinemeetsorexceedsCPSCbladesafetyrequirements forwalk-behindrotarymowersandtheB71.1specications oftheAmericanNationalStandardsInstitute,ineffectattime ofproduction.However,improperuseormaintenancebythe operatororownercanresultininjury.Toreducethepotential forinjury ,complywiththesesafetyinstructionsandalwayspay attentiontothesafetyalertsymbolwhichmeansCAUTION, WARNINGorDANGER—“personalsafetyinstruction.”Failure tocomplywiththeinstructionmayresultinpersonalinjury. WARNING:Toreducetheriskofre,electricshock,andpersonal injurywhenusingelectriclawnmowers,alwaysfollowthese basicsafetyprecautions.

SafeOperatingPractices
Thisproductiscapableofamputatinghandsandfeetandofthrowing objects.Alwaysfollowallsafetyinstructionstoavoidseriousinjury ordeath.
Thismowerisdesignedforcuttingandmulchinggrassor ,when equippedwithagrassbag,forcatchingcutgrass.Anyuseforpurposes otherthanthesecouldprovedangeroustouserorbystanders.
GeneralOperation
Readthismanualcarefullybeforeoperatingthemower .Become
familiarwiththecontrolsandproperuseofthemower.Neverallow childrenunder16yearsofagetooperatethemower.Neverallow adultstooperatemowerwithoutproperinstructions.
Theoperatorofthemowerisresponsibleforkeepingeveryone,
especiallychildrenandpets,awayfromareaofoperation.The operatorisresponsibleforaccidentsorhazardsoccurringtoother peopleortheirproperty.
Thoroughlyinspectareawheremowerwillbeusedandremove
sticks,stones,wire,anddebristhatcouldbepickedupandthrown bymower.Watchforforeignobjectswhilemowing.Objectsstruck bythelawnmowerbladecancausesevereinjuriestopersons.
Wearlongpantsandsubstantialshoes.Donotoperatemower
whilewearingopen-toedshoes,jewelry ,looseclothingorwhen
barefoot.Useofrubberglovesandfootwearisrecommended whenworkingoutdoors.
Keepallguards,shields,safetydevices,grasscatcheroroptional
sidedischargechuteinplace.Repairorreplacedamagedparts, includingdecals.Nevertamperwithsafetydevices.Checktheir properoperationregularly .
Themotorandbladearedesignedtostopwithin3secondsafter
releasingthecontrolbail.Ensurethatthecontrolbailfunctions properlybeforeeachuseofmower .Ifthebladedoesnotstop within3seconds,orifthereisagrindingorscrapingmetal-to-metal noisewhenthecontrolbailisreleased,contactanAuthorizedT oro ServiceDealerforproper“On/Off”andbladebrakeadjustment orreplacement.
Beforeusing,alwaysvisuallyinspecttoseethattheblades,blade
fastenersandcutterassemblyarenotwornordamaged.Replace wornordamagedbladesandfastenersinsetstopreservebalance.
Onlyusethoseaccessoriesandattachmentsdesignedtobe
usedwiththisproduct.Useofanyaccessoryorattachmentnot designedforthisproductmayincreasetheriskofinjury.See instructionsforproperoperationandinstallationofaccessories.
WhileOperating
Donotinsertkeyintoplugreceptacleuntilyouarereadytomow.
Donotoperatemoweringaseous,explosiveatmospheres.Normal
sparkingofmotorcouldignitefumes.
Startthemotorcarefullyaccordingtoinstructionsandwithfeet
wellawayfromtheblade.
UseRightAppliance–Donotusemowerforanyjobexceptthat
forwhichitisintended.
StayAlert–Watchwhatyouaredoing.Donotoperatemower
whentiredorundertheinuenceofdrugs,alcoholormedication.
Bealertandturnmoweroffifchildrenenterthearea.
Useextracarewhenapproachingblindcorners,shrubs,trees,or
otherobjectsthatmayobscurevision.
Donotmowneardrop-offs,ditches,orembankments.The
operatorcouldlosefootingorbalance.
Avoiddangerousenvironments.Neveroperatemowerinwet
grassordamplocations.Donotusemowerintherain.
Alwaysmaintainsecurefooting.Keeparmgriponthehandle
andwalk;neverrun.Mowonlyindaylightoringoodarticiallight.
Mowacrossthefaceofslopes;neverupanddown.Use
extremecautionwhenchangingdirectiononslopes.Donotmow excessivelysteepslopes.Wearskidresistantshoesonslopes.
Don’tOverreach–Keepproperfootingandbalanceatalltimes.
Donotforcethemower.Itoperatesbestandsafestattheratefor
whichitwasdesigned.
Alwayswearsafetyglassesoreyeshieldsduringoperationto
protecteyesfromforeignobjectsthatmaybethrownfromthe machine.(Regulareyeglassesarenotsafetyglasses.)
Alwayswearanapproveddustmaskwhenusingunitindusty
conditions.

Keepface,hands,andfeetawayfromthemowerhousingand
cutterbladewhenthemotorisrunning.Bladecancauseinjuryto handsandfeet.Staybehindthehandleuntilthemotorstops.
Neverdirectdischargedmaterialtowardanyone.Avoiddischarging
materialagainstawallorobstruction.Materialmayricochetback towardtheoperator.Stopthebladewhencrossinggravelsurfaces.
Useextremecautionwhenreversingorpullingthemowertoward
you.Beforeandwhilemovingbackwards,lookbehindanddown.
Sincethebladerotatesforafewsecondsafterthecontrolbaris
released,staybehindthehandleuntilallmovingpartsstop.
Afterstrikingaforeignobjectorifmowervibratesabnormally ,stop
themotorandremovethekeyfromtheplug.Checkmowerfor damageandmakeallrepairsbeforeusingmoweragain.Ifmajor repairsareeverneededorifassistanceisdesired,contactan AuthorizedT oroServiceDealer.
Donotoperatemowerifithasbeendroppedordamagedinany
way.Repairanydamagebeforeoperatingmower.
Stopthemotor,waitforallmovingpartstostop,andremovethe
keyfromtheplugbeforeadjustingtheheight-of-cut.
Stopthemotorwhenpushingthemoweroutsidethelawnarea.
Stopthemotorandremovethekeyfromtheplugbeforeremoving
thegrasscatcher.
Stopmotorbeforeleavingtheoperator’sposition—behindthe
handle.Removethekeyfromtheplugifmowerwillbeunattended.
Ifmowermustbeliftedtobetransported,stopmotor,staybehind
thehandleuntilallmovingpartsstopandremovekeyfromthe plugreceptacle.
MaintenanceandStorage
Performonlythosemaintenanceinstructionsdescribedinthis
manual.Ifmajorrepairsareeverneededorifassistanceis desired,contactanAuthorizedToroServiceDealer.
Beforemoweriscleaned,inspected,serviced,oradjusted,stop
motorandwaitforallmovingpartstostop.Removekeyfromplug.
Donotchargelawnmowerinrainorinwetlocations.
Topreventelectricshockwhilecharging,repairorreplaceany
damagedelectricalcordsimmediately.
Note:Thebatterychargerisonlyneededtorechargethebattery. Itisnotusedformowingwiththemower.
Don’tabusethecordwhilecharging.Donotyankcordtoremove
itfromplugreceptacle.Keepcordawayfromheat,oilandsharp edges.
Removekeybeforeservicing,cleaning,orremovingmaterialfrom
thelawnmower.
Donotdisposeofthebattery(ies)inare;thecellmayexplode.
Checkwithlocalcodesforspecialdisposalinstructions.
Donotopenormutilatethebattery(ies).Releasedelectrolyteis
corrosiveandmaycausedamagetotheeyesorskin.Itmaybe toxicifswallowed.
Exercisecareinhandlingbatteriesinordernottoshortthebattery
(contactbothpositiveandnegativebatteryposts)withconducting materialssuchasrings,bracelets,andkeys.Thebatteryor conductormayoverheatandcauseburns.
Toensurethemowerisinsafeoperatingcondition,frequently
checkandkeepallnuts,bolts,andscrewstight.Ensurebladebolt istightenedto40to50ft–lb(54to68N-m).
Alwayskeepasharpbladeonyourmower.Whenservicingblade,
refertoblademaintenancesectionforcorrectinstallationand servicingprocedures.Useidenticalreplacementbladesonly .
Toreducerehazard,keepmotorfreeofexcessivegrass,leaves,
andaccumulationsofdirt.
Checkthegrasscatcherbagfrequentlyforwearordeterioration.
ReplaceawornordamagedbagwithanidenticalT ororeplacement bagonlyforyourprotection.
Whennotinuse,removekeyandstoremowerindoorsinadry,
locked-upplaceoutofthereachofchildren.Allowmotortocool beforestoringinanenclosure.
Atthetimeofmanufacture,themowerconformedtothesafety
standardsineffectforrotarymowers.Toassurebestperformance andcontinuedsafetycerticationofthemower,usegenuine Tororeplacementpartsandaccessories.Replacementparts andaccessoriesmadebyothermanufacturersmayresultin non–conformancewiththesafetystandards,andthatcouldbe dangerous.

Donothandlethechargerplugorthemowerwithwethandsor whilestandinginwater.
NOTICE!Forbestperformance,useonlyaToro36-voltcharger (partno.119-0269).
Ittakesapproximately12to16hourstochargeafullydischarged battery.Fullychargethebatterybeforetherstmowingoftheseason, aftereveryuse,andbeforeoff-seasonstorage.Failingtochargethe batteryaftereveryuseshortensthebatterylife.Chargethebattery evenifyourunthemowerforonlyafewminutes.
Note:Thebatteryischargedatthefactory .However,beforeusingthe mowerforthersttime,chargethebatteryandensurethatithasafull chargebeforeoperating.
