1.Jackuptherearofthemachine.
2.Usejackstandstosupporttherearofthe machine.
6.Looselyinstallastriper-mountbrackettothe transmissionmountusing2hex-headbolts(3/8 x4inches),previouslyremoved2angenuts (3/8inch),and2atwashersoneachside (Figure4).
3.Removethejackusedinstep1.
4.Removethewheelsfromtherearofthe machine.
5.Removetheexisting2ange-headbolts(3/8x 3-1/2inches)and2angenuts(3/8inch)from therearofthetransmissionmountoneachside (Figure3).
Retainthe4angenuts(3/8inch).

Ensurethattheshort,outsidengersonthespringsareunderthestriper-mountbrackets(Figure5).
2.Loosenthe4nutsontopoftherollerassemblyandaligntheholesintherollerassemblywiththeholesin
thestriper-mountbrackets(Figure5).
3.Whileholdingthepivottubeinplace,insertthepivotrodthroughthepivottube,springs,andstriper-mount
bracketsandsecureitwith2pivotwashersand2hairpincotters(Figure5).

3.Releasethetensiononthespringsbyrotating thelongspringngersofftherollermounts.
4.Removetheclevishairpincotters.
5.Removetherollerfromthemachine.
6.Installthespringsandhairpincottersontothe rollerassemblyforlateruse.

Onanewpropertyduringtherst2weeks,you
mayneedtofollowtheexactsamepatternand directioninthesamewheeltracks.Thisbegins “training”thegrasstobendinthedesireddirection.
Duringthethirdweek,useacross-grainstriping
pattern.
Duringthefourthandfthweeks,followwith
repeatingtheoriginalpattern.Afteryouestablish theprimarystripingpatterngrain,youmay alternatethepatterneachweektoestablisha checkerboardoraplaid-stylepattern.
Donotmowinthesamepatterneveryweek.
Thiscausescompactioninthewheeltracksand mayproducerutsordepressionsalongthewheel tracks.
TurningWhileUsingtheStriping Kit
Raisetherollerwhenturning;stripingisgenerally
notenhancedbyendturns.
Raisingtherollerreducesconfusingthepatternat
theendsofthepattern.
TheLandscapeCanPromoteor HinderStriping
Themowingareasizehasaneffectonthenal
appearance.Largeareasmaylookbetterwhen mowedwithalargemower.Smallareasmaynot lookrightwhencutwithalargemower.
Largeareaswithoccasionaltreesorother
obstructionsoftenlookbestwhenthemowing patternappearstogothroughtheobstruction. Forexample,itlooksbestforapatterntomatch andcontinueonthefarsideofasmallpond.A differentcross-cutpatternonthefarsideofapond maynotbevisible.
Someareaslookbestwithlong,straightlinesofa
striped-mowingpattern,alignedwiththeproperty edge.Someareaslookbestwithadiamond pattern,whereneitherstraightlineisaligned withthepropertyedge.Propertieswithrolling hillsidesorpondslookbestwithaowing-curves stripingpattern.Y oucanhighlightandenhancea distinctivefeaturelikeasmallpondbymowingin aradialoraringpattern.
DrivingtheMachineBetween CuttingAreas
Raisetherolleranddeck,anddrivealonga
previouspathtotransportfromoneareaofthe propertytoanothersection.
Donotdriveacrossastripedpattern.
BestMowingandStriping Practices
Itisusuallybesttorstmowtheperimeterto
establishaboundary .
Whenside-discharging,directtheclippingsaway
fromwalks,drives,owerbeds,buildings,and vehicles.Ifthedischargethrowsclippingsa longdistance,mowadditionalpassestoavoid unwantedcleanupofclippings.
Avoiddrivingbackwardexcessively.Driving
backandforthorfrequentforwardandreverse maneuversaroundanobstaclecompressesthe grassanddisturbstheprofessionalappearance ofanicejob.
Avoidclosetrimmingwiththestripingkitinstalled
toreducedamagetolandscapingandtheroller.
Followallsafemowingpracticesasdescribed
intheOperator’sManual.Donotletthestriping patterncauseyoutomowinahazardousmanner.
