15. Outdoor Antenna Grounding-If an outsideantennais connected tothe receiver, be sure theantenna system
is groundedso asto providesome protection against voltagesurges andbuilt-up staticcharges. Article 810 of
the NationalElectrical Code,ANSI/NFPA 70, providesinformation withregard toproper groundingof themast
and supporting structure, grounding of the lead-in wire to an antenna-discharge unit, size of grounding
conductors, location of antenna-discharge unit, connection togrounding electrodes, and requirements for the
grounding electrode. Seefigure:

- For added protection for this product during a lightning storm, or when it is left unattended and
unused forlong periods oftime, unplug itfrom the walloutlet and disconnectthe antenna orcable system. This
will prevent damagetothe product dueto lightning andpower-line surges.
-An outside antennasystem should notbe located inthe vicinity ofoverhead power lines orother
electric light or power circuits, or where it can fall into such power lines or circuits. When installing an outside
antenna system, extreme care should be taken to keep from touching such power lines or circuits as contact
with them mightbefatal.
- Do not overload wall outlets, extension cords, or integral convenience receptacles as this can
result in ariskof fire orelectric shock.
- Never push objects of any kind into this product through openings as they may
touch dangerous voltagepoints or short-outparts that couldresult in afire or electricshock. Neverspill liquid of
any kind ontheproduct.
- Do not attempt to service this product yourself as opening or removing covers may expose youto
dangerous voltage orother hazards. Refer all servicingto qualified servicepersonnel.
- Unplug this product from the wall outlet and refer servicing to qualified service
personnel under thefollowingconditions:
a) When the power-supplycordor plug isdamaged,
b) If liquid hasbeenspilled, or objectshave fallen into theproduct,
c) If theproduct has beenexposed torain or water,
d) If the product does not operate normally by following the operating instructions. Adjust only those
controls that are covered by the operating instructions as an improper adjustment of other controls may
result in damage and willoften require extensive work by a qualified technician to restore the product to
its normal operation.
e) If the producthasbeen dropped ordamaged in anyway, and
f ) When the productexhibitsa distinct changein performance - thisindicates aneed for service.
- When replacement parts are required, be sure the service technician has used
replacement parts specified by the manufacturer or have the same characteristics as the original part.

- Upon completionof anyservice or repairs tothis product, askthe service technicianto perform
safety checks todeterminethat the productis in proper operatingcondition.
- The product should be mounted to a wall or ceiling only as recommended by the
manufacturer.
- The product should be situated away from heat sources such as radiators, heat registers, stoves, or
other products (includingamplifiers) that produce heat.
