Astra-RC
Wireless Remote Control Key Fob
Operation Manual
This operation manual is intended for studying principles of operation, correct use, operating conditions and maintenance of a
wireless remote control key fob Astra-RC (hereinafter Astra-RC).
The manufacturer reserves the right to make alteration regarding refinement of the product without prior notification. All
changes will be imported into new edition of the operation
manual.
1 Function
1.1 Astra-RC is a compact handheld
device designed for transmission:
- of alarm reports and identifiable
reports for arming / disarming to the
receiver Astra-RVA (hereinafter «receiver») of the wireless intrusion/fire
detection and alarming system
Observer-1;
- of alarm reports to the receiver
Astra-RVB (hereinafter «receiver»)
of the wireless message transmission system Observer-2.
1.2 Astra-RC supports 3 operating
frequencies.
1.3 Electric power is supplied from
two CR2430-type battery cells, voltage 3,0 V.
Note - More wide spread battery cells СR2032 are acceptable
for use, but in this case, the battery cells life time will be reduced and a certain reduction of wireless coverage range is
possible.

4 Structure
Figure 2
Structurally Astra-RC is designed as a key fob consisting of a
cover and a removable base (figure 2).
Mounted in the cover are printed circuit board with radio elements (hereinafter PCB) and buttons. The base is affixed to the
cover with a screw.
Mounted on PCB is the LED for Astra-RC operability supervision.

Note - The notification «Low supply voltage» is generated to the
receiver jointly with notifications «Alarm», «Arm» or «Disarm».
6 Pre-starting Procedure
6.1 After transportation in conditions differing from those of
operation, Astra-RC must be kept unpacked for 4 hours in the
expected operating conditions.
ATTENTION! Check frequency compatibility of Astra-RC
and receiver versions.
6.2 Registration procedure
Astra-RC is registered in the receiver memory at the moment of
powering up.

Step-1
Place Astra-RC on the installation surface and dismantle it:
- Loosen the screw;
- Put a screwdriver bit into the slot on the Astra-RC housing
and lift the base. If the base comes off with difficulty, do the
same from the other side;
- Take the base off.
Step-2
Set the registration mode on the receiver according to procedure described in the «Astra-RVA» operation manual or Observer-1(2) system operation manual (available for free downloading from www.controlex.eu) or Quick Start Guide.
Step-3
Turn Astra-RC ON, replace the battery cells (during registration it is enough to install one battery cell).
Step-4
Make sure the registration procedure is completed according
to the procedure described in the «Astra-RVA» operation
manual or Observer-1(2) system operation manual or Quick
Start Guide.
Once the registration procedure completed successfully, assemble Astra-RC:
- install the base on its place;
- drive the screw.
In case the registration procedure is failed, repeat steps 2 – 4.
Step-5
If necessary, carry out authority assignment procedure to enable
arm / disarm functions of Astra-RC by following the instructions
described in the Observer-1 system operation manual or Quick
Start Guide.
