The TALIS series of loudspeakers was introduced to the market for the first time in the year 2000, and immediately set
new standards: refined design, superb workmanship and wonderful sound. Every aspect of the loudspeaker maker’s
art had to be re-thought in order to generate powerful bass from such extremely slender cabinets, and the successful
outcome was only possible through the use of the latest aluminium technology. The cabinets are manufactured using
complex profiled extrusions, which combine thin walls - for large net volumes - with extremely high strength. All covers and plinths take the form of solid aluminium plates. The cabinet surfaces feature durable finishes applied using
extremely sophisticated processes.
We have now cautiously revised and improved this successful range, retaining the proven aluminium technology,
but with further improvements to the design. Gently rounded front grilles and plinths give the cabinets an even more
elegant appearance. The standard finishes are aluminium, black and white, which are a superb match to the latest
trends in furnishing. The acoustic characteristics and qualities of the new TALIS loudspeakers offer further significant improvements. Reinforced baffles have enabled us to install recessed, flush-mounted drive units, and the result
is a clear enhancement in linearity of frequency response even off-axis, providing a further improvement in the already first-class radiation characteristics in the mid-range. A major development is the new annular super high-frequency unit, which is now employed in all the models of the range. Its significantly improved transient handling,
linear frequency response, enormous dynamic range and low distortion provide a quality of high-frequency reproduction which is unique in this class. The throw of the bass / mid-range units is now even greater, providing a more
linear response in the mid-tone area. This is very important in view of the D’Apolito arrangement now employed for
the bass / mid-range drive units. This symmetrical arrangement of two bass / mid-range units around the tweeter ensures superlative sound imaging characteristics - for surround set-ups as well as conventional stereo reproduction.
The sound image appears to be detached from the loudspeakers, and the listening room has much reduced influence
on sound quality.
Four models comprise the new TALIS series: the TLS 20 is a small floor-standing speaker, the TLS 10 is a mediumsized floor-stander, the TLR 20 is a small bookshelf or rear speaker, while the TLP 10 is a medium-sized centre or panel
unit.
The TALIS series’ new bass / mid-range units feature large
magnets, stiff, well-damped cones made of feather-light aluminium, and enormously long throw. The parallel wiring of
multiple drive units enormously improves the speakers’ dynamic characteristics and transient handling.
The super high-frequency unit has been further developed, and now features a completely new membrane which requires no phase plug. The tweeter’s
frequency response is more linear, the distortion level
perceptibly lower and the dynamic characteristics
further improved.
