Congratulations on your purchase of Swann’s latest NVR security system! This guide will show
you how to connect your cameras, HDTV, and other peripherals to the NVR in a few easy steps.
For an overview of the NVR hardware connections, see the reverse side of this guide.
Note: Before installing anything permanently, connect everything up and test the system - just to
make sure nothing was damaged during shipping!

2 What does this mean?
Here is a quick overview of the various connectors and lights on the NVR:
Power LEDLights up when your NVR has power.
HDD LEDBlinks when hard drive is active.
Network LEDBlinks when network connection is active.
An extra USB port to plug your USB flash drive into the NVR, if necessary,

Audio outputConnects to your speakers.
USB portConnect to the mouse.
HDMI portConnects to your high-definition TV with the HDMI cable.
VGA portConnects to an additional monitor with a VGA cable (not supplied), if necessary.
eSata portAn easy way to connect an external hard drive for additional storage.
LAN port
Camera ports
for copying important video files from the NVR’s hard drive or upgrading the
firmware.
Connects to your home internet router with the Ethernet cable to enable the
NVR to access the internet.
These are network PoE (Power over Ethernet) ports to connect and power your
cameras via the Ethernet cables. The 4-CH model will have four less inputs.

3 Connect the cameras
Plug one end of the long Ethernet cable into the “LAN” connector on a camera and plug the
other end into any available network camera port on the back of the NVR. Repeat this step until
you have connected all your cameras to the NVR.

Each camera uses a single Power Over Ethernet (PoE) connection, a technology that allows the
camera to be directly powered over the Ethernet cable from the NVR itself.

4 Connect to your router
To connect the NVR to the Internet, connect one end of the short Ethernet cable to the LAN
port on the back of the NVR, and then connect the other end to a spare port on your Internetconnected router.

Connecting the NVR to your Internet router allows alert notifications to be sent to your email
account, enables remote viewing via the SwannView Link mobile app, and also ensures correct
date and time on the NVR.

5 Connect the mouse
Connect the mouse to the NVR by plugging the mouse USB connector into the USB port on the
back of the NVR.

6 Connect to your HDTV
Connect one end of the HDMI cable to the HDMI port on the NVR and the other end to a spare
HDMI input on your high-definition TV.

Pay attention to the labels on the back of your HDTV. It will indicate the HDMI input number that you
will need to select on your HDTV once the NVR is powered.

7 (Optional) Connect to your monitor
The NVR can also support an additional VGA monitor. Connect the monitor to the NVR with a VGA
cable (not supplied) and the NVR will automatically detect the additional display.

8 Connect the power adapter
Setup Wizard Guide
Welcome to the Setup Wizard! The Setup Wizard automatically runs the first time you start your NVR and will guide you through all the important settings you need to get your NVR up and working. Please be patient as it can take a moment for the wizard to appear after powering your NVR.
Connect one end of the power adapter to the power input on the back of the NVR, and then
connect the other end to a power outlet.

Congratulations! You have finished the hardware setup of your NVR. Next, follow
