Extreme ly light w eight diap hragm, ver y sensitiv e to soun d. Very sma ll versio ns available for hid ing applica tions. High p erformance conden ser microph ones are regarded as standard equipmen t of recording studios for extreme d etail captur ing. Operate s with power, such a s phantom or bat tery.

Knowing your microp hone
Superl ux prov ides variety selecti on of microp hones for professiona ls an d amature s. To know your microph one is the first s tep to success ful result.
Type of transducer
Conde nser
Conden ser micro phones work wit h power. Professi onal sta ndard is 48VDC phanto m power. Some mic rophones work w ith lower vol tage as low as
1.5VDC , such as battery power model. E105/E1 08 wor k with 9 to 48V DC phanto m onl y and 1.5V DC ba ttery. Please make sure your sound system provide a daquate powe r to the microphon e.

About Frequency Response
Sui table for wor king at cont rolle d en viron ment , or for aco usti c mea sure ments . Al thou gh p eopl e pe rsui t fl atne ss, but for non eprofess ionals, it is a ch allenge to make s it works as expe ctation.
Flat
Based on years of practi cal exper ience of pro users. There are curves t o be build fo r vari ous ap plications , so th at it is v ery s imple to use the microph one for the pu rpose. Limi ting bandwi dth, and emph asing are typ ical skill.
Popular curve r esponse

Maintainence
Condens er mi crophone shall be kept in low h umidity environm ent f or be st sound pe rformance. Store the con denser micro phones in ai rconditione d room or dehumidifi er to keep away form moisture. Clean air is anot her im portant factor. Kee p away from smoki ng environmen t to avoid tar resi duals.
Mounting the microp hone
Pressure gradi ent mi crophone is very s ensitive to vibration . Suit able shock mount for hi gh perf ormance microphone is ne cessary for ext reme low noise recording . Sturdy s tand can set the mi crophone e xcatly at the sweet spot and keep it the re. Choose heavy du ty microphone s tand for studio c ondenser micropho ne which weigh ts much more than h andle microph one.
Superlu x provides w ide range o f microphon e stands for various de mands. Big Foot W illie is specially developed for large condenser microphone s that ab le to support 2 large micropho nes w ith s tereo bracket for single point stere o recording .
Extensi on foot on all the 'E ' versions serve to mount heavy studio mi crophone in limit sp ace live sound a pplication s.
Distance to source
Close miking or distant miking sou nd very d ifferently. Vocal record ing or li ve perform ance practice close mikin g most ly. Su itable proximity effe ct is one desired target, and lower feedbac k probl em is another facto r for live sound applica tion.
While d istant mik ing is comm on practic e for recordi ng, especi ally stereo pair recording w ith large group of p erformers, s uch as orchestr a or choir.
Distant miki ng ge nerally picks up less bass section with pressure grad ient type of m icrophone (c ardioid, fig ure-8, shotg un...) due to acoustic nature and lack of prox imity effect s.
Rich bass wi th dis tant m iking can be recorde d with pre ssure t ype of micropho ne (Omni), which per forms the same frequ ency respon se with cl ose or distan t pick-up.
Picks up m ost s ignal on ax is. Rej ects side a nd pi cks up leas t to the back. Suitabl e fo r liv e sou nd re -inforcemen t. Ap parent proximity effec t an d mos t singer li kes to take this b ass boost adva ntages which i s not good for spe ech.
Cardio id
Directivity
Equal sen sitive to bot h ends, and rejec ts the sides. G ood to noisy en vironment to re ject distant noise and low frequency. Also a g ood ch oice for st ereo rec ordings, such as Blumlei n. Typical pressure g radient char acteristic .
