4.Your electric kettle is now ready for use.
U
SINGYOURELECTRICKETTLE
1. Position the power base on a flat heat-resistant surface as close as possible
to a wall socket.
(For cordless model only)
2. Shorten the power cord by winding excess power cord into the cord storage
area underneath the power base. Push the power cord fully into the cord exit in the power base.
(For cordless model only)
3. Ensure the switch is in the “OFF” position (press the rear of the switch).
4. Remove the kettle from its power base.
(For cordless model only)
5. Open the lid and fill the kettle via the lid opening. The lid will open only
to about 90°, do not try to force it past this point, otherwise you will damage it.
6. Fill the electric kettle with water between the “MIN” and “MAX” water
level mark. NOTE: Do not fill with less than the “MIN” water level mark
indicated on the electric kettle Also, do not exceed the “MAX” water level mark indicated on the electric kettle. Close the lid before switching on,
otherwise the kettle may not switch off when it boils.
7. Do not overfill the kettle. If the kettle is overfilled, there is a risk that
boiling water may be ejected.
8. Plug the power base into the wall socket. Gently position the kettle on
the power base, taking care not to spill any water.
(For cordless model only)
9.
For the model with cord, plug the cord into the wall socket.
10. Press the front of the switch. The “POWER-ON” light will illuminate and the kettle will start to heat up.
11.
When the water has boiled the kettle will switch off automatically, the switch will return to the “OFF” position and the light will go out. The kettle can be switched off at any time before the water boils by pressing the rear of the switch.
12. When you lift the kettle (from the base
on cordless model only)
, you
may see moisture on the surface (of the base forcordless model only)
. This is the steam used to switch the kettle off automatically, which then condenses and is allowed to escape via vents in the underside of the kettle. This is perfectly normal, and should not be a cause for alarm.
13.
When filling or carrying the kettle, do not tilt it backwards, as this may allow
water to pass through the steam opening on to the control area.
Should this
occur, the kettle must be allowed to dry before use.
I
MPORTANT
:
Ensure that the kettle has switched off automatically,
or is switched off manually and is disconnected, before moving it.
14. Before attempting to pour, unplug the kettle from the power outlet
(for models with cord), or remove kettle from the power base (for cordless models).
15. To avoid the risk of splashing, pour slowly and do not over-tilt the kettle. Over-tilting the kettle will split the flow, causing a scald hazard.
16. IMPORTANT: Do not switch the kettle on unless it contains at least one cup of water. Do not pour from the kettle while it is switched on. Misuse of this kind will shorten the life of the element.
17. If the kettle is accidentally switched on when it does not contain sufficient water, a boil-dry devise will automatically switch it off. If this occurs, you must leave it to cool down fully before filling, as it will be hot and spitting may occur.
F
ILTERINSTRUCTIONS
A mesh filter has been integrated into the kettle to reduce the amount of scale residues entering your beverages or food. The filter is removable for cleaning. To reduce scale build-up, empty out any residual water after boiling. The kettle should be descaled as normal to prevent scale build-up.
How often the filter should be cleaned will vary according to where you live and
how often you use your kettle. The filter should be cleaned whenever there are
noticeable
deposits left on the filter and especially if the rate of pouring decreases.

EFITTING
IMPORTANT:
The kettle must be switched off, disconnected from the power outlet and allowed to cool down completely prior to removal or refitting the filter. Do not use excessive force, as this might damage the filter or the lid.
1. To remove the filter (See Figure 1): Empty the kettle and open lid.
2. Hold the kettle by the handle. With the other hand, grip the tab at the rear of the filter, then pull it up and out.
IMPORTANT:
You must not pull it straight up, otherwise you may hit the front of the lid, damaging it. Keep your fingers clear of the mesh.
3. To remove the filter baffle (See Figure 2): Remove the filter, slide the top baffle clips inwards until they clear the tops of the baffle mounts, slide the baffle down until the bottom baffle clips clear the bottoms of the baffle mounts, then move the baffle back towards the handle, and lift it out.
4. To refit the filter baffle (See Figure 3): Lower the baffle into the body of the kettle, on the handle side of the baffle mounts. Bring it forward to the spout side of the baffle mounts. Raise it until the bottom baffle clips engage with the bottoms of the baffle mounts. Squeeze the top baffle clips over the tops of the baffle mounts.
5. To refit the filter (See Figure 4): With index finger on the tab at the rear of the filter, and the thumb on the point at the front of the filter, squeeze together to raise the horizontal part of the filter about 30° toward the vertical part. While holding it in this position, engage the grooves in the upright part of the filter with the sides of the filter baffle, and slide the filter down tot he bottom of the baffle.
6. Rinse the kettle out with fresh water and it’s ready for use.
CARE AND CLEANING OF Y
OUR ELECTRIC KETTLE
1. Mineral deposits in tap water may cause scale deposits to form inside the electric kettle after frequent use. To remove this scale build-up, fill the kettle with a solution of 3 cups of white vinegar and 3 cups water. Let sit overnight.
2. Empty the vinegar solution from the electric kettle. Remove any stain remaining inside by rubbing with a damp cloth.
3. Fill the electric kettle with clean water. Place kettle in power base and bring it to boil, then discard water. Repeat and the electric kettle will be ready to use.
4. The electric kettle will not operate again until the on/off switch is pressed downward.
