THE NECESSARY INSTRUCTIONS
NO SPECIAL TRAINING IS REQUIRED
Careful attention to the instructions outlined herein as
to storing, installing, starting, operating, and
maintaining the equipment will insure long and
satisfactory service from the
________ Stero Dishwashing Machine.________
INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS
1. Set machine in place and level side to side: and front to back.
a. Place level on turned our lip of tank.
b. Adjust level of machine by screwing adjustable feet in or out as necessary.
2. Dishtables can now be set in place:
a. The dishtable lip or turndown MUST be sealed with silicone or similar sealing compound. This compound must be applied
so that it is compressed between the table lip and the machine tank. Be generous with this compound! This is a vital part
of the installation to prevent leaks.
b. The dishtable lip must be tightly secured to the vertical edge of the machine tank. This is to allow maximum area for the
door to travel. If the table interferes with the door it will cause premature wear of the door and guides and will NOT be
covered under machine warranty.
c. Tne dishtables must be secured at the" backsplash and the table lip by boiling or welding 10 the rear muilion and the tank
lip.
3. Make final plumbing connections per tags attached to connection points.
COMPLY WITH LOCAL PLUMBING CODES
a. One (1) 3/4" NPT 140° water supply.
NOTE: Install shut off valve prior to machine connection.
b. Connect 2" IPS drain to either side of drain holding tank. Be sure unused connection is capped.
4. Electrical connections.
NOTE: All Stero low temperature door type dishwashers are single phase (115V, 208V, or 230V)
See name plate on front door of the machine and size breaker and wire accordingly.
COMPLY WITH LOCAL ELECTRICAL CODES
a. Terminal strip is provided for the electric service connection. The terminal strip is located in the control box on top of the
machine and is marked LI & N for 115V and L1 & L2 for 208V.
and 230V machines. A knock out is provided in the back of the control box for electrical conduit
connection.
NOTE - DISCONNECT POWER BEFORE REMOVING
ELECTRICAL BOX COVERS.
3
OPERATION: START-UP
1. Make sure drain plug is seated in
drain.
2. Set pump intake screen in place.
3. Fill the machine by pressing the
fill toggle switch to left. Fig. 1
NOTE: Fill level is the top of the
pump intake screen handle.
4. Be sure the upper and lower
revolving wash arms are in place
with end caps tightly secured.
Spin to test for tree rotation.
5. Place lower toggle switch
in run position and close door -
the machine is designed to start
automatically when doors are
closed.
NOTE: Model SC-20-2A
must have two dish racks in
the machine to start.
NOTE: Operation of the
lowest toggle switch. Fig. i.
The noid position is designed
to be used when a longer
wash cycle is desired for
cleaning heavy soils from
ware or when chemically
cleaning the machine. Hold
in rinse cycle When longer
rinse is desired. Use hold for
wash or rinse cycle only.
4
SEQUENCE OF EVENTS
1. Wash cycle -40 seconds. Figure 1.
a. Detergent dispenser is energized during wash cycle.
2. Drain 11 seconds.
3. Flush 4 seconds. Before drain closes the fill solenoid valve
will open, the pump motor will start, and the machine will be
flushed of any debris or detergent residue.
4. Fill approximately 15 seconds.
The drain closes at the end of the 4 second flush, and fills to the
top of the pump intake screen handle.
a. Sanitizer and rinse aid dispensers arc activated through fill
and rinse cycle.
5. Rinse 20 seconds.
ADJUSTMENTS
The machine has been thoroughly tested and adjustments made at the
factory. Due to varying water pressures, the water level may have to be
readjusted.
1. Water level adjustment.
a. Adjust pressure regulator for 10-16 PSI flow pressure.
b. Remove cover from pressure switch, located behind
the front panel Turn the adjustment clockwise to
raise the water level, counter-clockwise to lower
water level.
NOTE: Fill level is the top of the pump intake screen handle.
5
INSTRUCTIONS TO CHEMICAL DISPENSER SERVICE MAN AND/OR INSTALLER.
There are four terminals provided in the control box for the dispenser ( transformer) connections. The terminals are
numbered and a label is bonded to the wall. just above the terminal strip, identifying the connection points. Fig. 3.
The second toggle switch from the top of the control panel (Fig. 2) is provided for testing orpriming dispensers.
The detergent side of the terminal strip is energized (40 seconds) during the wash cycle.
The rinse aid and sanitizer side of the terminal strip is energized (approx. 35 seconds) during the fill and rinse cycle.
Neither of the time cycles are adjustable. Any adjustment of time must be made within the dispenser.
2. Chemical feed connections.
The machine is filled through an air gap (water tower) installed at the top back edge of the hood (Fig. 4).
Three plastic bulkhead fittings are provided on the side of the air gap that arc to be used as chemical injection points. The
bulkhead fittings will accept 1/4" O.D. plastic tubing.
NOTE: Insert the feeder lube so that the tubing extends 1/4" 1/ 2" beyond the end of the bulkhead fitting Fig. 5. This will
protect the interior of the machine from raw chlorine burn or corrosion.
Figure 4
NOTE: The National Sanitation Foundation (NSF) requirement is a minimum of 50 PPM of available chlorine at the end of the rinse
cycle. Stero Dishwashing Machine Mfg. Company recommends that chlorine be maintained at 60 PPM. Excessive use of chlorine
will cause an odor and leave a cloudy grey film on glassware and stainless flatware.
7
MAINTENANCE
You have just purchased an easy machine to maintain.
Since soils, washed from the glassware are discharged from the machine during the drain and flush cycle the interior of
the machine remains relatively clean.
DAILY MAINTENANCE
1. Remove and inspect the spray arms, paying close attention to the sprayers to see that they are free of any debris
that might interrupt the spray pattern. If a sprayer is clogged, simply loosen the wash arm end caps - - - - push the
debris back through the sprayer, into the wash arm and rinse out. Be sure slot in arm bushing is clean.
2. Remove and clean pump intake screen.
3. Remove scrap screen from drain sump and clean.
4. Check level of chemical containers, replace as necessary. When replacing chemical containers use prims switch on
P.C. board to prime
Now that ail spray jets, pump intake screen and drain sump screen have been cleaned, replace as follows:
1. Replace scrap screen in drain sump.
2. Replace pump intake screen.
3. Replace spray arm.
NOTE: Be sure spray arm bushing and pivot pin are free of any grit that may slow down or keep the spray arm from revolving.
WEEKLY (or as necessary)
1. Remove the scrap screen from the drain sump and thoroughly clean the interior of the drain sump. This cleaning is necessary to
avoid any odors created by scrap which may have been allowed 10 fall from the; scrap screen into the sump itself.
