Sta-Rite AquaLuminator Installation Manual

AQUALUMINATOR
®
Supplemental Instructions
For Non-Water Return Assembly
These Instructions are provided as a supplement to the AquaLuminator Installation Instructions. The following is outlined to help you install the AquaLuminator into a pool that requires cutting a hole through the pool wall and does not utilize the lamp housing as an inlet port.
2. Follow Steps 1-4 in AquaLuminator Installation Instructions.
3. The center of the hole for the light must be drilled a minimum of 9½” and a maximum of 11½” from the top of the pool. This will position the top of the lens at the proper depth.
WARNING
Risk of pool wall rupture. DO NOT cut hole for body and flange with the center of the hole below 11½” form the top of the pool wall. Cutting a hole below this position can weaken the pool wall and cause it to rupture. A ruptured pool wall can cause severe injury to swimmers and others near the pool as well as property damage.
WARNING
Read all instructions for electrical connections in the AquaLuminator instruction booklet before drilling holes or mounting transformer. Improperly placed holes or mounting location can make it difficult to make electrical connections
Incorrect electrical connections can create an electrical hazard that could result in severe injury or death from electrical shock.
4. Now that you have determined the location of the light and transformer, it is time to cut the hole in the wall material.
5. The vinyl material must not be cut at this time. To prepare the pool for cutting you must —
ON A NEW POOL: Hole should be cut in wall material before the liner in installed. ON AN EXISTING POOL: Drain pool to a level about 6” below light location, (a little over two feet below normal water level).
NOTE: If your existing pool is drained completely, for any reason, it must be refilled to a point of 6” below light location to re-stretch liner before installing light. Disconnect liner at the top above light location and pull liner away from the wall. A drill with a 3/8” chick is required to cut the hole in the wall material.
WARNING
Risk of electrical shock or electrocution. Use of electric drill in the proximity of water could result in severe injury or death from electrical shock if the person or the electric drill comes in contact with the water. Use of a cordless, battery operated, or rechargeable drill is recommended.
6. The cutting tool supplied with this light is designed to cut 0.02 to 0.04 wall thickness material. Punch or drill a 3/16” pilot hole through the pool wall from the outside of the wall material 10½” below the top of the pool wall. Place the hole cutting tool (supplied) in the chuck of your drill and cut the hole from the outside of the pool through the wall material. Do not use any
electrical equipment within 10 feet of the pool, not intended for such use.
7. FOR A NEW POOL: Install liner as directed by pool manufacturer and fill pool with water up to about 3” below light installation location. NOTE: Vinyl must not be cut for light until liner is stretched into place by filling the pool to this level.
8. FOR AN EXISTING POOL: Reattach liner to pool wall. Locate hole area to be cut from the inside of the pool on the liner and cut hole in liner from the pool side with a sharp knife using the hole in the wall as a template.
9. Follow Steps 10-18 in the AquaLuminator Installation Instructions to complete installation of lamp housing disregarding steps 14 & 15.
10. Follow instructions for electrical connections for storable pools or permanent pools defined by the “Important Safety Instructions” found in the AquaLuminator Installation Instruction Manual.
