Digital Selective Calling (DSC) Distress call with GPS Position
The HX471S is supplied with a NMEA/Charging cradle that allows the radio to be
connected to a GPS. Connecting the HX471S to a GPS allows the position of your
vessel to be stored inside the HX471S. In the event of a distress, simply grab the
HX471S, lift the DISTRESS cover and depress the DISTRESS key for 3 seconds. The
HX471S will transmit a DSC Distress call containing your position, while automatically
activating the High Intensity Signaling Strobe Light as well.
VHF Marine and FRS Bands
Having a portable radio able to communicate on VHF Marine and FRS bands the
possibilities are endless. Want to communicate with another vessel? You can with the
HX471S. Want to communicate from your vessel to a family member or friend on shore?
You can with the FRS band. Want to have a submersible radio to take along hiking,
skiing, hunting or caravanning? You can have it all with the HX471S!
Receiving AM / FM, MURS and Aeronautical Transmissions
Imagine being on a small vessel and wanting to listen to music and news broadcasts. With
the HX471S, simply press the BAND key to select the FM band, and tune to your favorite
channel. Want to listen to a ball game on the AM Broadcast band? You can with the HX471S.
The HX471S even allows you to monitor MURS Band and the AM Aeronautical band. Simply
put, the HX471S allows you to monitor a range of frequencies previously unavailable in any
marine portable.
High Intensity Signaling Strobe Light
Since the HX471S can legally be used while on the water or land, STANDARD
HORIZON has included an unique Distress Strobe Light. This strobe can also be used
as a light source, continuous strobe or in time of distress, the strobe illuminates the
International Morse Code characters "SOS".
Submersible (3 feet for 30 minutes)
Engineered for unparalleled reliability, the HX471S is designed to survive submersion in
3 Feet of water for 30 Minutes.
Rugged Magnesium Die-Cast Construction
The HX471S utilizes a high impact, non-corrosive die-cast chassis. This unique case
insures the HX471S will withstand the physical abuse a Portable receives from being
dropped or banged on the deck of your boat.
NOAA Weather Alert, Scanning, Dual Watch and more . . .
The HX471S has the capability to warn you of impending severe weather by audibly
alerting you to switch to the active weather channel. Want to monitor more than one
channel The HX471S can be programmed to Scan any number or combination of
channels with or without priority channel. Want to scan between a VHF Marine channel
and a FRS channel You can, using the Dual Watch function. The HX471S also has a
Preset key that allows you to store up to 10 channels for each band (Marine VHF, FRS,
MURS AM/FM and Aeronautical bands), handy for quick recall of your favorite channels.
Value Packaging
Packaged with a 1300 mAh Lithium-Ion battery, the HX471S will deliver 10-12 hours of
continuous operation off a single charge. In addition, the Lithium-Ion battery never will
develop a "memory" inhibiting its ability to deliver a complete day of service. Attaching
either the 120 VAC or 12 VDC cable to the NMEA Charging cradle allows the battery to
be charged within 3 hours, after which time the radio is trickle charged to keep the
battery topped off.
Built Better, Backed Better
Because the HX471S is built better, it’s backed better. If the STANDARD HORIZON
HX471S Portable radio fails for any reason (including water damage) during normal use
in the first 3 years of ownership, STANDARD HORIZON will repair or replace it free,
without hassle or charges. If it fails anytime thereafter in normal use, for as long as the
original purchaser owns the radio, Standard Horizon’s Lifetime Flat Rate Service or
Customer Loyalty Programs will cover it. The rates for the Flat Rate and Customer
Loyalty Program’s are determined at the time of the original purchase.
