Description
This demonstration board represents a 20 W
dimmable CFL (compact fluorescent lamp) ballast
solution which can completely replace
incandescent lamps in dimming systems. The
controlled dimming range is from below 20% up to
100% of full light output without changing the triac
dimmer.

Compared to formal CFL designs, this dimmable
solution provides not only energy savings, but
also higher reliability and significantly longer
operating life.
The solution is based on the high performance
ballast driver L6574, two STD4NK50Z power
MOSFETs, a Zener-protected SuperMESH™
power MOSFET and two STTH1L06 Turbo 2
ultrafast high voltage rectifiers.
