PoE Kit Mounting Instructions

Please note

Ì Before installing/removing any LAN module

please make sure that the appliance is
powered off and power cables are removed.

Ì PoE modules are only supported on

the following models and revisions:

 SG/XG 210 rev.3

 SG/XG 230/310/330/430/450 rev.2

Ì You can only use one PoE module

per appliance (on SG/XG 430/450
models use the rightmost slot).

Mounting the PoE module

1. Unscrew the metal plate from the
vacant slot you want to use

2. Remove the metal plate

3. Insert the PoE module into the open slot

4. Tighten the screws of the PoE module

Connecting the PoE Power Supply

1. Locate the Power connector on
the backside of your appliance and
attach the PoE Power Supply to it

Connecting your Powered Device

2. Connect your powered device (e.g.
Access point) via a standard Ethernet
cable to any port of the PoE module

Managing your Power Budget

3. The PoE Power Supply provides a
max. Power of 120W. This allows you
to power up to 4x 802.3at (30W) or 8x

802.3af (15W) compatible devices or any

combination hereof which does not use
more than 120W in total (see table)

4. If you plug in any further device the
PoE Load LED turns on. In that case
remove one connected device to keep
the max. required load below 120W

Please note

You can enable/disable the PoE function of each
port via the admin console of your SG/XG device.
Please refer to the respective administration
guide.

Hinweis

Ì Vergewissern Sie sich vor dem Einbau

oder Ausbau von LAN-Modulen, dass
die Appliance ausgeschaltet ist und
die Stromkabel abgezogen wurden.

Ì PoE-Module werden nur von den folgenden

Modellen und Versionen unterstützt:

 SG/XG 210 Rev. 3

 SG/XG 230/310/330/430/450 Rev. 2

Ì Es kann nur ein PoE-Modul pro

Appliance verwendet werden (bei
den SG/XG 430/450-Modellen ist der
Slot ganz rechts zu verwenden).

Montieren des PoE-Moduls

1. Schrauben Sie die Metallplatte von dem
freien Slot ab, den Sie verwenden möchten.

2. Nehmen Sie die Metallplatte ab.

3. Führen Sie das PoE-Modul in
den offenen Slot ein.

4. Schrauben Sie das PoE-Modul fest.

Anschließen des PoE-Netzteils

1. Schließen Sie das PoE-Netzteil
an den Netzanschluss auf der
Rückseite Ihrer Appliance an.

Anschließen des Powered Device

2. Schließen Sie das Powered Device
(d. h. das mit Strom versorgte Gerät
wie z.B. ein Access Point) über
ein Standard-Ethernetkabel an
einen Port des PoE-Moduls an.

Verwalten des Leistungsbudgets

3. Die maximale Leistung des PoE-Netzteils
liegt bei 120 W. Damit können Sie bis zu vier

802.3at (30 W)- oder acht 802.3af (15 W)-

kompatible Geräte oder eine Kombination
dieser Geräte, die insgesamt 120 W nicht
überschreitet, versorgen (siehe Tabelle).

4. Wenn Sie ein weiteres Gerät anschließen,
geht die PoE Last-LED an. Entfernen Sie in
diesem Fall ein verbundenes Gerät, damit
die Gesamtlast wieder unter 120 W liegt.

Hinweis

Sie können die PoE-Funktion jedes Ports über
die Admin-Konsole Ihrer SG/XG-Appliance
aktivieren bzw. deaktivieren. Lesen Sie dazu in der
betreffenden Administrationsanleitung nach.
