Media player
The media player works as a music player and video player all in one. You can play music and video clips
that you receive in a picture message, or that you download to your phone. You can also stream music
and videos from Web sites. You can save files that you download in the phone memory or on the Memory
Stick Duo™, and then use the Media player to play back audio or video clips whenever you want.
folder system enables you, for example, to organize your favourite songs into groups and create simple
playlists. It also allows songs and video clips to be moved between the phone memory and the Memory
Stick Duo.
Before you start
To be able to stream videos or music from the Web, you must be able to access the Internet. The Internet
settings may already be entered when you buy your phone, or you can enter them manually. Follow the
instructions in the Getting started guide “Using the Internet in Z1010” if you need assistance.

To send and receive video clips via MMS, you need to enter the correct phone settings. Follow the
instructions in the Getting started guide “Sending picture messages with Z1010” if you need assistance.
Playback
You can listen to music and view video clips that you have saved in your phone.
To play music
1. Scroll to Media player and select a file.
2. Press Play.
To view a video clip
1. Scroll to Media player, More, Play video.
2. Select the video clip you want to view.
To control the Media player
•Press Pause to pause the playback.
•Press and hold and to rewind and fast forward when playing music tracks.
•Press and to move between music tracks.
•Press and to scroll through the music list.
The Media player is intelligently aware of other applications in the Z1010.
• Playback is paused when a telephone call is made or received.
• Playback is paused if you start another application which requires the audio channels to be dedicated
to it.
• Playback of MP3 files continues if you switch to another application or close the phone, providing
music while you use other applications such as the phonebook or calendar, or play games.
