V. New Features including
flip keyboard, push email system.
The Sony Ericsson P910i is based on the
P900 Smartphone. This means that to a large
extent they have the same features, but
some important differences exist both in
hardware and software.
1) New Software
Stellant viewers used in P900 are
removed in P910i, with QuickOffice
viewers added for Word, Excel and
PDF. The Word and Excel viewers will
also support editing.
A PowerPoint viewer is available on
the “Multimedia CD”.
New image formats.
New Themes.
2) Memory
The available user memory is now
upgraded to 64 MB.
The total flash memory has been
increased from 48 MB RAM up to 96
MB RAM.
P910i has now enhanced Memory
Stick Pro support with up to 1GB.
(Parallel mode not supported).
3) Browser Improvements
With Narrow Layout, you can now
reformat a web page to fit the width
of the screen. This means you don’t
have to scroll pages horizontally.
Jog Dial can be used to browse the
Internet.
Scan text function can be used to find
the way to your favourite Web page
spots.
4) Email Improvements
The push email system is a method of
‘pushing’ or forwarding email to mobile
devices as soon as it reaches the email
server. There is an increasing trend towards
push solutions for mobile access to corporate
emails, and P910i is well prepared for these
solutions and a rich set of 3rd party
applications are available from company such
as Extended Systems, Intellisync, JP Mobile,
Research in Motion (RIM)/Blackberry, Seven,
Smartner and Visto.
With the Push Email System:
It allows emails to be delivered the
same way as SMS or MMS. This
means it has the freedom to send,
receive, forward or delete your
emails anytime and anywhere
It assures you peace of mind with
high data security. With Triple DES
(Data Encryption Standard) security,
it ensures your emails remains
encrypted at all times between your
P910i and your corporate email
server.
It works alongside your existing
corporate email server to manage all
incoming and outgoing emails, and
pushes the latest emails received to
your P910i when you are out of
office.
Being GPRS-based, it is “Always on,
Always connected.” It works in
tandem with your office email server
to push all the latest emails to you,
which you can reply to instantly.
