Preparing the battery packs
Charging the battery packs
The two supplied battery packs must be charged before you can use
them. One should be inserted into the corcfless handset to operate it.
The other ma\' remain in the base unit to allow for a continuous
supply of fullv charged battery packs. Also, should any power
interruption occur, the base unit battery will provide backup power
during the interruption.
If a battery pack is brand new or
completely discharged, it may
take 10 minutes or more before
the CHARGE lamp lights up.
7 Insert one of the supplied battery packs
completely into the charging compartment.
The CHARGE lamp on the base unit lights.

When charging is completed, the CHARGE lamp will go
Make sure that the base unit is connected to a continuous power
supply.
If the base unit's power supply is interrupted (for example, if
power is cut off every night), then the battery will provide backup
power, and will be discharged. Frequent charging and
discharging will shorten the battery's life.
If the base unit is not connected to a continuous power supply,
the battery charged in the base unit will be effective for a shorter
period of time than a fully charged battery pack when installed in
the cordless handset.
Setting up 13
Preparing the battery packs

After yt)u have fully charged a batter\- pack in the base unit, install it
in the cordless handset as follows.
!
If the lid conies off, you can
replace it easily by snapping it

Notes on charging
• The battery pack supplied uses a unic]ue leact acici battery which

batteries, you do not need to wait until the battery becomes
weak to recharge.
• Avoid leaving the handset without charging the battery for an
extended period of time so that the battery runs down
completely. This can shorten the battery's life. If this happens,
recharge the battery. You may need to charge the battery
several times before it is recharged to its full capacity.
• When charging a battery pack which is completely discharged,
the battery lamps may not light up for a while (10 minutes or
less). There is nothing wrong with your telephone. Continue
charging.
