o meet the growing demand for 16:9 equipment in the production area, Sony presents a new addition to its line-up of production video

monitors: the Sony PVM-20S1WE Colour Video Monitor for 16:9 picture viewing in post production and broadcast stations. Incorporating all of the superb features of Sony production monitors, the PVM-20S1WE offers flexibility of signal connections, a full range of optional functions and ease of operation, fully preparing the user for the various video sources provided in the 16:9 environment.

Main Features

• 16:9 Aspect Ratio CRT

The PVM-20S1WE 20-inch wide picture tube facilitates comfortable 16:9 picture viewing. High contrast images are achieved by its dark panel.

• SDI (Serial Digital Interface) option

Inserting optional serial digital interface kits - the Sony BKM-101C (video) and BKM-102 (audio) - into the monitor allows the PVM-20S1WE to accept ITU-R BT.656 / SMPTE 259M component serial digital signals.

• Worldwide TV standards

The PVM-20S1WE accepts PAL, NTSC and SECAM signals. NTSC4.43 can also be reproduced. All signal types are automatically selected.

• 16:9/4:3 capability

By pressing a front panel button, the aspect ratio can be switched between 16:9 and 4:3.

• Underscan, H/V delay capability

When Underscan mode is selected, the entire active picture area is displayed. This makes it possible to view the whole image to check picture edges. The H/V delay function allows viewing of the blanking area and sync/burst signal by displaying the horizontal and vertical intervals in the centre of the screen.

• Remote/Tally

Parallel remote control and Tally can be operated via a 20-pin connector.

• Serial Remote Control option

Serial remote control of the monitor is facilitated by installing the optional Sony BKM-103 RS-422 Serial Remote Control Kit.

• Mountable in a 19-inch EIA standard rack

Despite its 16:9 aspect ratio, the PVM-20S1WE can be mounted in a 19-inch EIA standard rack with an optional slide rail kit, the Sony SLR-103A.

Note) The bezel protrudes slightly from the rack (90mm).

*Because the bezel protrudes from the rack when you mount the PVM-20S1WE,

you cannot completely insert the SLR-103A. The blind panel kit is supplied to cover the exposed part of the slide rail.
