• Use of controls or adjustments or performance of procedures other than those specified herein may result in hazardous radiation expo sure.

Charging the projector
1 Connect the projector to a wall outlet with the USB cable (
supplied) and an AC adaptor (sold separately).

Turning the power on
1 Press and hold the (power) button for longer than one second.
The (power) lamp lights. To turn off the projector, press and hold the (power) button for longer than one second.
Using the lens cover stand
When protecting the projector's lens
Attach the lens cover stand by sliding from left to right.

When projecting on a wall or in front
Attach the lens cover stand by sliding from left to right, then rotate the stand and adjust the tilt of the projector to set the projection p osition.

Projecting the Contents or Screen of the Connecting Device
To enhance your viewing experience
• Project in a dark setting for best picture quality
• Project close to viewing surface in medium-light
• Project with confidence – it will focus automatically
You can connect other devices to the projector by using screen mirroring or cables.
Connecting via screen mirroring
1 Press the jog lever while at the “ENTER” position to display the
menu of the projector.
2 Select [ Input change] - [

3 Enable the screen mirroring function of your device.
A list of connectable devices is displayed on the screen of your device. For details, refer to the instruction manual of your device.
4 Select the projector (MP-CL1A) in the list. 5 Select [ Return] - [ ] in the menu of the projector to exit the
menu.
The screen of the connected device is projected.
Notes
• Screen mirroring utilizes Miracast technology. Therefore, a connectio
n can be formed with devices that comply with Miracast. It is necessa ry for the transmitting device to support HDCP (High- bandwidth Dig ital Content Protection) 2.0/2.1/2.2.
• Apple devices cannot connect via screen mirroring. It requires an
Apple Digital AV adapter (sold separately).
• Depending on the specification of the AC adaptor or the projecting
contents, the battery remaining may decrease while connecting to the AC adaptor.
Connecting via HDMI or MHL cable
1 Connect other devices to the HDMI/MHL IN jack using an HDMI
cable (sold separately) or MHL cable (sold separately).
2 Press the jog lever while at the “ENTER” position to display the
menu of the projector.

3 Select [ Input change] - [ HDMI/MHL] in the menu.
4 Select [ Return] - [ ] to exit the menu.
The content of the connected device is projected.
Notes
• Not all video devices have HDMI connectivity or MHL connectivity. To
see if your video device has any of these capabilities, check its specifi cations or contact its manufacturer.
• Apple devices require an Apple Digital AV adapter (sold separately).
• Depending on the specification of the AC adaptor or the projecting
contents, the battery remaining may decrease while connecting to the AC adaptor.

Connecting to External Speakers or Headphones
You can connect your speaker or headphone to the projector by using Bluetooth connection or cables.
Connecting via Bluetooth® connection
1 Set your speaker or headphone to pairing mode.
For details, refer to the instruction manual of your device.
2 Press the jog lever while at the “ENTER” position to display the
menu of the projector.
3 Select [@ Bluetooth function] - [@ Bluetooth function ON] in the
menu.
The Bluetooth mark (gray) appears on the screen, and the projector shifts into the pairing mode.

4 Select [@ Device list] in the menu.
5 Select the device you want to connect with the projector from
[Available devices] (or [Paired devices]), then select [Connect].
If passkey* entry is required, refer to the instruction manual or manufacturer of the device.
* A Passkey may be called a “Passcode,” a “PIN code,” a “PIN number,” or a
“Password.”
6 Make sure that the Bluetooth mark color in the screen is black.
If the mark color is gray, it means it is unconnected. In this case, r etry steps from 4 to 5.

Hints
• Depending on the Bluetooth device, the projector may be conn ected with your speakers or headphones automatically as soon as they are paired.
• When the Bluetooth function is ON, you cannot use the internal speaker.
• The Bluetooth connection of the projector is only available for connecting with external speakers or headphones.
• If your Bluetooth device is not displayed on [Available devices], select [Refresh] and wait until your device is displayed.
• Select [Forget] to delete your device from [Paired devices].

Troubleshooting
The power does not turn on.
• If the remaining battery power is low or insufficient, charge th e battery.
• Use the projector in a location with an ambient temperature of between 0 °C and 35 °C.
• Try turning the power off and on again.
The projector automatically shuts down during use.
• The battery may be depleted. Charge the battery.
• Check that the sleep timer is not turned on in the [Sleep t imer] menu.
• The projector automatically sh uts down when it overheats. L et it cool down before you ope rate it again.
• When the projector is in use, connected via MHL and powe red by AC adaptor, the rate of power consumption may be more than the rate of charge. Depending on the remaining battery power, the projector may shut down. In the event this happens,
disconnect the MHL connec tion and connect the project or to a wall outlet to charge with USB cable (supplied) a nd an AC power adaptor (no t supplied).
The (power) lamp (white) and the (charge) lamp (red) blink at the same time.
• An internal error may have occ urred. Press and hold the (po wer) button for longer than ten seconds to reset the projector.
The (power) lamp (white) and
the (charge) lamp (orange) blink at the same time.
• The battery is almost depleted. Charge the battery.
Other devices cannot connect to the projector.
• Not all video devices have HDM I connectivity, MHL connectivity , or Miracast screen mirroring fu nction. To see if your video devi ce has any of these capabilities , check its specifications or cont act its manufacturer.

Notes on Use
• Do not point the laser light at a mirror, etc. as the reflected laser light may be harmful to eyes.
• Do not use the projector in areas where the use of wireless comm unications devices is prohibited, such as on airplanes or in hospita ls. The projector emits radio wav e and may affect electronic and medical appliances (pacemakers, etc.).
• Do not operate the unit if it has b een wet or otherwise damaged, t o prevent against electric shock, e xplosion and/or injury.
• Magnetic or electric noise may cause the noise from the proje ctor to become louder or
interfere with its wireless communications.
• While using, TV, radio or tuner i nterference may occur. Use the projector away from these prod ucts.
• Access points may not be discov ered correctly when there are m ultiple Wi-Fi access points that u se the same channel.
• Children should only use the pr ojector under adult supervision. Keep the projector out of reach of infants.
• Do not block the ventilation holes with hands, etc. When using the p rojector, be sure to use the stand ( supplied) to prevent the ventilatio n holes from being blocked. Failur e to do so would be dangerous as it may result in overheat of the pr ojector.
• Do not put any foreign objects in the ventilation holes.
• Do not insert your fingernails into the ventilation holes and other sl ots, nor hook your fingernails on t he gaps while using the projector.
• Do not short-circuit the projector. Do not allow metal objects such a s hairpins to come into contact wi th the projector or its terminals.
• Do not disassemble or modify the projector.

• The battery is built-in with the projector and cannot be remov ed.
• Do not place the projector in fire nor heat it in a microwave oven or oven.
• Do not allow the projector to get wet with fresh water, sea water, milk, soft drinks or soap water. D o not use the projector while wet .
• Do not use or store the projector in a place where temperature is e xtremely high, such as near a fire, under direct sunlight, near a heat er or in a car parked in the sun. D o not use the projector in a place with poor ventilation, such as whi le wrapped in a quilt/ blanket or i n a bag.
• Do not apply a strong impact to t he projector. Avoid hitting it with a hammer, putting any heavy obje ct on top, stepping on it or droppi ng it.
• Avoid continuous contact bet ween your skin and the projec tor while charging or in use. D oing so may cause low-temperature burns. Be car eful of heat transmitted throug h clothes as it may also cause low-temperature burns.
• Before connecting a portable devi ce to the projector, attach the

portable device’s battery pack. C onnecting a portable device whil e its battery is removed may cau se loss of data or damage to the portable device.
• It has been reported that some po rtable devices may incur sudden l oss of data recorded to memory whether or not they are used with the projector (for details, refer to t he user manual supplied with the portable device). Before using the projector, be sure to back up data recorded to memory. Sony is not li able for loss of data.
• Do not touch or stick your finger into the connection parts.
• Refer also to the manual of the d evice that you use in conjunction with the projector as you may ne ed to operate the device in order to use it with the projector.
• Sony is not liable for damage or l oss resulting from the use of the projector, or for any claim from a third party.
• Sony is not liable for problems wit h your PC, cell phone or other har dware arising from the use of the projector; the suitability of the pro duct for specific hardware, softwar e, or peripherals; operating conflic ts with other

installed software; data loss; or other accidental or unavoidable damages.
• Sony is not liable for financial damages, lost profits, claims from third parties, etc., arising from the use of the projector.
• If a malfunction occurs, stop use and contact your Sony dealer or authorized Sony service facility.
• HDMI/MHL cable is not supplied. Recommend to use Sony High Speed HDMI cable. Apple devices require an Apple Digital AV adapter (sold separately).
• When the projector body gets warm with use, the (power)
lamp (white) blinks or the (power) lamp (white) and the
(charge) lamp (red) blink at the same time. In this case, stop using the projector.
• Keep the distance between your device and the projector at 10 m or less when you connect your device to the projector via a Bluetooth connection. The effective range of the Bluetooth connection may become shorter depending on
the conditions.
• Use the projector in a place where there is no dust or cigarette smoke because the projector is a precision apparatus.
• Before use, take the projector out of the carrying porch.
• Use on a stable or flat surface when using the projector with the lens cover stand.
• Do not place the projector close to credit and other cards. Doing so may result in the loss of recorded data.

Arbitration Instructions. To begin Arbitration, either You or S ony must make a written demand t
o the other for arbitration. The Arbitration will take place before a single arbitrator. The a rbitration will be administered in keeping with the Expedited Procedures of the Commercial Arbitration Rules and the Suppl ementary Proceedings for Consumer- Related disputes (“Rule s”) of the American Arbitration Association (“AAA”), when app licable and in effect when the claim is filed. The filing fees to begin and carry out arbitration will be share d between You and Sony, but in no event shall Your fees ever exceed the amount allowable by the special rules for Consume rs Disputes provided for by AAA, at which point Sony will cove r all additional administrative fees and expenses. § 1, et seq., will govern the arbitration itself and not any state l aw on arbitration. The Arbitrator’s decision will be binding an d final, except for a limited right of appeal under the Federal Arbitration Act.
Opt-Out Instructions. IF YOU DO NOT WISH TO BE BOUND BY THE BINDING ARBITRATION PROVISION, THEN: (1) You
must notify Sony in writing within 30 days of the date that Yo u purchased the product; (2) Your written notification must be mailed to Diego CA 92127, Attn: Legal Department; AND (3) Your written notification must include (a) Your NAME, (b) Your ADDRESS, (c ) the DATE You purchased the product, and (d) a clear stateme nt that “YOU DO NOT WISH TO RESOLVE DISPUTES WITH ANY SONY ELECTRONICS ENTITY THROUGH ARBITRATION AND/OR BE BOUND BY THE CLASS ACTION WAIVER.” Opting out of this dispute resolution procedure will not affect t he coverage of the Limited Warranty in any way, and You will c ontinue to enjoy the benefits of the Limited Warranty.
