Notes on use

¥Do not leave the lens in direct sunlight. If sunlight is focused onto a nearby object, it may cause a Þre. If circumstances necessitate leaving the lens in direct sunlight, be sure to attach the lens cap.

¥Be careful not to subject the lens to mechanical shock while attaching it.

¥Always place the lens caps on the lens when storing.

¥Do not keep the lens in a very humid place for a long period of time to prevent mold.

¥After attaching the lens, do not carry the camera by holding the lens.

¥Do not touch the lens contacts. If dirt, etc., gets on the lens contacts, it may interfere or prevent the sending and receiving of signals between the lens and the camera, resulting in operational malfunction.

Precaution for flash use

With certain of lens/ßash combinations, the lens may partially block the light of the ßash, resulting in a shadow at the bottom of the picture. When using a built-in camera ßash, make sure to remove the lens hood and shoot from at least 1m (3.3 feet) away from your subject.

Vignetting

When you use lens, the corners of the screen become darker than the center. To reduce this phenomena (called vignetting), close the aperture by 1 to 2 stops.

Condensation

If your lens is brought directly from a cold place to a warm place, condensation may appear on the lens. To avoid this, place the lens in a plastic bag or something similar. When the air temperature inside the bag reaches the surrounding temperature, take the lens out.

Cleaning the lens

¥Do not touch the surface of the lens directly.

¥If the lens gets dirty, brush off dust with a lens blower and wipe with a soft, clean cloth (Cleaning Cloth KK-CA (optional) is recommended).

¥Do not use any organic solvent, such as thinner or benzine, to clean the lens or the camera cone.

Attaching/detaching the lens

To attach the lens (See illustration – .)

1 Remove the rear and front lens caps and the camera body cap.

¥You can attach/detach the front lens cap in two ways, (1) and (2). When you attach/detach the lens cap with the lens hood attached, use method (2).

2 Align the orange index on the lens barrel with the orange index on the camera (mounting index), then insert the lens into the camera mount and rotate it clockwise until it locks.

¥Do not press the lens release button on the camera when mounting the lens.

¥Do not mount the lens at an angle.

To remove the lens (See illustration – .)

While pressing and holding the lens release button on the camera, rotate the lens counterclockwise until it stops, then detach the lens.

Attaching lens hood

It is recommended that you use a lens hood to reduce ßare and ensure maximum image quality.

Fit the hood into the mount on the end of the lens barrel and rotate the hood clockwise until it clicks.

¥When using a built-in camera ßash, make sure to remove the lens hood to avoid blockage of the ßash light.

¥When storing, turn over the lens hood and place it onto the lens backwards.

Zooming

Rotate the zooming ring to the desired focal length.

Focusing

When using the auto focus, the camera focuses the lens automatically. When focusing manually, set your camera to the manual focus and rotate the focusing ring while looking through the viewÞnder. The focus signal in the viewÞnder indicates the current degree of the focus.

¥The focusing ring can be rotated slightly past the inÞnity to provide accurate focusing under various operating temperatures. Do not rotate the focusing ring all the way to the end when focusing manually, even at inÞnity. Look through the viewÞnder and set the focus precisely.

Remarques sur l’utilisation

¥Ne laissez pas lÕobjectif en plein soleil. Si la lumi•re du soleil est rŽßŽchie sur un objet situŽ ˆ proximitŽ, ceci risque de provoquer un incendie. Si toutefois vous devez laisser lÕobjectif en plein soleil, veillez ˆ Þxer le capuchon sur lÕobjectif.

¥Veillez ˆ ne pas soumettre lÕobjectif ˆ un choc mŽcanique lorsque vous le Þxez.

¥Placez toujours le capuchon sur lÕobjectif avant de le ranger.

Précaution concernant l’utilisation du flash

Lorsque vous utilisez un ßash intŽgrŽ, veillez ˆ retirer le pare-soleil et ˆ prendre la photo ˆ une distance dÕau moins 1 m (3,3 pieds) du sujet.

Vignetage

Lorsque vous utilisez lÕobjectif, les coins de lÕŽcran peuvent sÕassombrir par rapport au centre. Pour rŽduire ce phŽnom•ne (appelŽ vignetage), lÕouverture doit •tre rŽglŽe ˆ une valeur comprise entre 1 et 2 par rapport ˆ la position de fermeture compl•te.

Condensation

Si votre objectif est dŽplacŽ directement dÕun endroit froid ˆ un endroit chaud, de la condensation risque de se former sur lÕobjectif. Pour Žviter ce phŽnom•ne, placez lÕobjectif dans un sac plastique ou autre. Sortez lÕobjectif du sac lorsque la tempŽrature de lÕair ˆ lÕintŽrieur du sac a atteint la tempŽrature ambiante.

Nettoyage de l’objectif

¥Ne touchez pas directement la surface de lÕobjectif.

¥Si lÕobjectif est sale, Žliminez la poussi•re avec une soufßette et essuyez-le avec un chiffon doux et propre (le chiffon de nettoyage KK-CA (en option) est recommandŽ).

¥NÕutilisez aucun solvant organique, tel quÕun diluant ou de lÕessence pour nettoyer lÕobjectif ou le c™ne de lÕappareil.

1 Retirez les capuchons dÕobjectif situŽs ˆ lÕavant et lÕarri•re, ainsi que le capuchon de lÕappareil photo.

¥Vous pouvez Þxer/dŽtacher le capuchon avant de deux fa•ons, (1) et (2). Lorsque vous Þxez/dŽtachez le capuchon dÕobjectif alors que le pare-soleil est en place, utilisez la mŽthode (2).

2 Alignez le rep•re orange situŽ sur la monture de lÕobjectif sur le rep•re orange de lÕappareil (rep•re de montage), puis insŽrez lÕobjectif dans la monture de lÕappareil et tournez-le dans le sens horaire jusquÕˆ ce quÕil se bloque.

¥NÕappuyez pas sur le bouton de dŽblocage de lÕobjectif de lÕappareil lorsque vous Þxez lÕobjectif.

¥Ne Þxez pas lÕobjectif de travers.

Tout en appuyant et en maintenant enfoncŽ le bouton de dŽblocage de lÕobjectif sur lÕappareil, tournez lÕobjectif dans le sens anti-horaire jusquÕˆ la butŽe, puis dŽtachez lÕobjectif.

Fixation du pare-soleil

Il est recommandŽ dÕutiliser un pare-soleil aÞn de rŽduire la lumi•re parasite et dÕassurer une qualitŽ dÕimage maximale.

InsŽrez le pare-soleil dans la monture situŽe ˆ lÕextrŽmitŽ de lÕobjectif et tournez-le dans le sens horaire jusquÕau dŽclic.

¥Lorsque vous utilisez un ßash intŽgrŽ, veillez ˆ retirer le pare-soleil aÞn dÕŽviter que la lumi•re du ßash ne soit bloquŽe.

¥Lorsque vous le rangez, retournez le pare-soleil et placez-le sur lÕobjectif ˆ lÕarri•re.

Utilisation du zoom

Tournez la bague du zoom pour obtenir la longueur focale de votre choix.

Mise au point

Lorsque vous utilisez la mise au point automatique, lÕappareil photo fait la mise au point automatiquement au niveau de lÕobjectif.

Pour effectuer une mise au point manuelle, rŽglez votre appareil en mode de mise au point manuelle et tournez la bague de mise au point tout en regardant dans le viseur. Le signal de mise au point dans le viseur indique le degrŽ actuel de mise au point.

¥ La bague de mise au point peut •tre tournŽe lŽg•rement au-delˆ de lÕinÞni aÞn dÕobtenir une mise au point prŽcise ˆ diverses tempŽratures de fonctionnement. Ne tournez pas la bague de mise au point au maximum lorsque vous effectuez une mise au point manuelle, m•me sur lÕinÞni. Regardez dans le viseur et rŽglez la mise au point avec prŽcision.
