Before operating the unit, please read this manual thoroughly and retain it
for future reference.

The BC-VM50 battery charger can be used to charge a lithium ion type
battery pack (e.g. NP-FM50)

This unit is compatible with the “InfoLITHIUM” battery pack (M series).
Your camcorder operates only with the “InfoLITHIUM” battery.
“InfoLITHIUM” M series battery packs have the mark.
“InfoLITHIUM” is a trademark of Sony Corporation.

Notes on Use

Charging

•Use only a lithium ion type battery pack. This unit cannot be used to
charge a Ni-cd type battery pack.

•Attach the battery pack firmly.

•Charge the battery pack on a flat surface without vibration.

Charging temperature

The temperature range for charging is 0°C to 40°C (32°F to 104°F).
However, to provide maximum battery efficiency, the recommended
temperature range when charging is 10°C to 30°C (50°F to 86°F).

Others

•The nameplate indicating operating voltage, power consumption, etc. is
located on the bottom.

•The negligible amount of electric current will flow into the Battery charger
as long as the Battery charger is plugged into the wall outlet.

•Connect the battery charger to an available wall outlet. If any trouble
occurs while the unit is in use, unplug the cord from the wall outlet to
disconnect the power source.

•Unplug the unit from the wall outlet if it will not be used for extended
period of time. To disconnect the cord (power cord), pull it out by the
plug. Never pull the cord itself.

•Do not operate the unit with a damaged cord or if it has been dropped or
damaged.

•Be sure that nothing metallic comes into contact with the metal parts of
the unit. If it does, a short may occur and the unit may be damaged.

•Attach the battery pack to the unit correctly when you charge the battery
pack. The battery terminal may be damaged if the battery pack is not
attached correctly.

•Always keep the metal contacts clean.

•Do not disassemble or convert the unit.

•Do not apply mechanical shock or drop the unit.

•While the unit is in use, it gets warm. But this is normal.

•Keep the unit away from AM receivers, because it will disturb AM
reception.

•Do not place the unit in a location where it is:
— Extremely hot or cold
— Dusty or dirty
— Very humid
— Vibrating

If any difficulty should arise, unplug the unit and contact your nearest Sony
dealer.

To Charge the Battery Pack

Charging by Attaching the Battery Pack to This
unit

1 Attach the power cord to the unit, and then connect it to a wall

outlet.

2 Install the battery pack.

Align the end surface of the battery pack shown by the V mark to the
edge of the terminal shutter of this unit, then fit and slide the battery
pack in the direction of the arrow.
The CHARGE lamp (orange) will light and charging will begin.

When the CHARGE lamp goes out, normal charge is completed (Normal
charge). For a full charge, which allows you to use the battery longer than
usual, leave the battery pack in place for approximately one hour (Full
charge).
Remove the battery pack when required. It can be used even if the charging
is not completed.

To remove the battery pack

Slide it in the direction opposite to the arrow in the illustration.

The following table shows the charging time for the battery pack which is
discharged completely.

•Approximate minutes to charge an empty battery pack fully (Full charge).

•Numbers in parentheses indicate the time when you charge normally
(Normal charge).

•To ascertain the battery life, refer to the instruction manual of the video
equipment which you use.

•The charging time may differ depending on the condition of the battery
pack or the temperature of the environment.

Notes

•When a fully charged battery pack is installed, the CHARGE lamp will
once light, then go out.

•When charging a battery pack which is not used for a long time period, it
may take longer than usual to charge the battery pack.

•Do not expose the battery terminal to any mechanical shock. Be careful
not to attach the battery pack forcefully.

•The following events may happen, if there is a battery pack on the unit. In
that case, please contact your Sony dealer or local authorized Sony service
facility.
– The CHARGE lamp keeps blinking or does not light.
– The CHARGE lamp does not go out even if 10 hours have passed since

the charging began.

– Your video equipment does not work with a full-charged battery pack.

Notas sobre la utilización

Carga

•Utilice solamente una batería de tipo de iones de litio. Esta unidad no podrá
utilizarse para cargar una batería de tipo níquel-cadmio.

•Fije firmemente la batería.

•Cargue la batería sobre una superficie plana exenta de vibraciones.

Temperatura de carga

La gama de temperaturas para carga es de 0 a 40°C. Sin embargo, para
obtener la máxima eficacia de la batería, la gama de temperaturas
recomendada para la carga es de 10 a 30°C.

Otros

• La placa de características en la que se indica la tensión de alimentación, el
consumo, etc., se encuentra en la base.

•Mientras el adaptador de alimentación de CA esté conectado en un
tomacorriente de la red, a través del mismo fluirá una pequeña corriente
eléctrica.

• Conecte el cargador de baterías a un tomacorriente de la red. Si se produce
cualquier problema mientras esté utilizando la unidad, desenchufe el cable de
alimentación del tomacorriente para cortar la fuente de alimentación.

• Cuando no vaya a utilizar la unidad durante mucho tiempo, desconéctela del

• No utilice la unidad con un cable dañado, cuando se haya caído, ni cuando
esté dañada.

metálicas de la unidad. En caso contrario podría producirse un cortocircuito y
la unidad se dañaría.

• Para cargar la batería, fíjela correctamente a la unidad. Si no la fijase
correctamente, los terminales podrían dañarse.

•Mantenga siempre limpios los contactos metálicos.

• No desarme ni modifique la unidad.

• No golpee ni deje caer la unidad.

• Cuando utilice la unidad, se calentará. Sin embargo, esto es normal.

•Mantenga la unidad alejada de receptores de AM, porque podría perturbarse
la recepción de AM.

• No coloque la unidad en un lugar:
— Extremadamente cálido o frío
— Polvoriento o sucio
— Muy húmedo
— Sometido a vibraciones

Para cargar la batería

Carga fijando la batería a esta unidad

Consulte la ilustración.

1 Conecte el cable de alimentación a la unidad y después en un

tomacorriente de la red.

2 Instale la batería.

Alinee la superficie del extremo de la batería mostrado con la marca V en el
borde del obturador de terminales de esta unidad, y después fije y deslice la
batería en el sentido de la flecha.

La lámpara CHARGE (anaranjada) se encenderá y se iniciará la carga.

Cuand finalice la carga, la lámpara CHARGE se apagará (carga normal). Para
realizar la carga completa, que le permitirá utilizar la batería durante más
tiempo que el normal, deje la batería en su lugar durante aproximadamente una
hora (carga completa).
Extraiga la batería cuando lo requiera. Podrá utilizarse incluso aunque no se
haya completado la carga.

Para extraer la batería

Deslícela en el sentido opuesto al de la flecha de la ilustración.

Tiempo de carga

En la tabla siguiente se muestra el tiempo de carga para una batería
completamente descargada.

Tiempo de carga

•Minutos aproximados para cargar completamente una batería vacía (carga
completa).

• Los números entre paréntesis indican el tiempo cuando la cargue
normalmente (carga normal).

• Para asegurar la duración útil de la batería, consulte el manual de
instrucciones del equipo de vídeo utilizado.

•El tiempo de carga puede diferir dependiendo de la condición de la batería o
de la temperatura ambiental.

Notas

• Cuando instale una batería completamente cargada, la lámpara CHARGE
parpadeará una vez y después se apagará.

• Cuando cargue una batería que no haya utilizado durante mucho tiempo, es
posible que la carga dure más de lo normal.

• No exponga los terminales de la batería a golpes. Tenga cuidado de no fijar la
batería a la fuerza.

•Si existe algún problema en una batería, puede suceder lo siguiente. En tal
caso, póngase en contacto con su proveedor Sony o con un centro de
reparaciones autorizado por Sony.
–La lámpara CHARGE parpadea continuuamente o no se enciende.
–La lámpara CHARGE no se apaga incluso después de haber transcurrido 10

Le chargeur de batterie BC-VM50 peeur être utilisé pour charger une
batterie au lithium-ion (ex. NP-FM50)

Ce camescope est compatible avec la batterie rechargeable “InfoLITHIUM”

Remarques sur l’utilisation

Recharge

•Utilisez uniquement une batterie rechargeable au lithium-ion. Le chargeur
ne peut pas être utilisé pour charger une batterie au nickel-cadmium.

•Fixez bien la batterie.

•Chargez la batterie sur une surface plane et sans vibrations.

Température de recharge

La batterie peut être rechargée à une température comprise entre 0°C et
40°C (32°F et 104°F). Cependant, pour que son efficacité soit optimale, il
est conseillé de la recharger entre 10°C et 30°C (50°F et 86°F).

Divers

•La plaque signalétique indiquant la tension de fonctionnement, la
consommation électrique et d’autres informations électriques se trouve
sous le chargeur.

•Une quantité négligeable d’électricité circulera dans le chargeur s’il reste
branché sur la prise murale.

•Raccordez le chargeur de batterie sur une prise murale accessible pour
pouvoir le débrancher rapidement si un problème se présente pendant
que vous l’utilisez.

•Débranchez le chargeur de la prise murale si vous n’avez pas l’intention
de l’utiliser pendant un certain temps. Pour débrancher le cordon, tirez
sur la fiche. Ne tirez jamais sur le cordon.

•N’utilisez pas le chargeur lorsque le cordon est endommagé, ou si le
chargeur. est tombé ou a été endommagé.

•Evitez que des objets métalliques ne touchent les parties métalliques du
chargeur. Un court-circuit pourrait se produire et endommager l’appareil.

•Rattachez correctement la batterie rechargeable à l’appareil lorsque vous
la rechargez. La borne de la batterie peut être endommagée si la batterie
n’est pas rattachez correctement.

•Veillez à ce que les contacts soient toujours propres.

•Ne pas démonter ni modifier le chargeur.

•Ne pas appliquer de chocs mécaniques au chargeur. ni le laisser tomber.

•Quand l’appareil est utilisé, il devient chaud. C’est tout à fait normal.

•Ne pas laisser le chargeur près d’un récepteur AM, car il perturbera la
réception AM.

•Ne pas entreposer le chargeur dans les endroits suivants:
— extrêmement chauds ou froids
— poussiéreux ou sales
— très humides
— exposés à des vibrations.

Pour charger une batterie

Recharge avec la batterie sur le chargeur

Voir l’illustration.

1 Branchez le cordon sur l’appareil et sur une prise murale.
2 Installez la batterie rechargeable.

Alignez l’extrémité de la batterie indiquée par le repère V sur le bord de
l’obturateur de borne du chargeur, puis insérez et poussez la batterie
dans le sens de la flèche.
Le témoin CHARGE (orange) s’allume et la recharge commence.

Quand le témoin CHARGE s’éteint, la recharge normale est terminée
(Recharge normale). Pour une recharge complète, qui vous permettra
d’utiliser pendant plus longtemps la batterie, laissez la batterie rechargeable
en place pendant environ une heure (Recharge complète).
Enlevez la batterie rechargeable quand nécessaire. Elle peut être utilisée
même si elle n’est pas complètement rechargée.

Pour enlever la batterie rechargeable

Poussez-la dans le sens opposé à la flèche sur l’illustration.

Temps de recharge

Le tableau suivant indique le temps de recharge quand la batterie est
complètement déchargée.

Remarques

•Quand vous insérez une batterie pleine dans le chargeur, le témoin
CHARGE s’allume puis s’éteint.

•Il faudra probablement plus de temps que d’habitude pour recharger une
batterie qui n’a pas été utilisée depuis longtemps.

•N’exposez pas la borne de la batterie à un choc. Ne forcez pas lorsque
vous rattachez la batterie.

•Les phénomènes suivants peuvent se présenter si une batterie est en place
sur le chargeur. Dans ce cas, veuillez contacter votre revendeur Sony ou
un centre de réparation agréé par Sony.
– Le témoin CHARGE continue de clignoter ou ne s’allume pas.
– Le témoin CHARGE ne s’éteint pas même après 10 heures de recharge.

L’appareil vidéo ne fonctionne pas bien que la batterie soit complètement
rechargée.
