Sonance Cinema Series LCR1 Cabinet speakers can be oriented
either vertically or horizontally with nearly identical performance.
P l a c i n g t h e L e f t a n d Ri g h t S p e a ke rs
In most cases you will want to orient the left and right speakers
vertically, but you can also orient them horizontally without
affecting their performance. Place the left and right channel
speakers on either side of the video screen, 6 – 10 feet (1.8m –
3m) apart, with their mid/tweeter units 3 – 4 feet (0.9m – 1.2m)
from the floor (which corresponds to the height of your ears when
you are seated on a couch or chair). The main listening position
should be 8 – 12 feet (2.4m – 3.7m) away from the speakers. Use
Figure 2 as a guide.
If you are placing the speakers inside of an entertainment
center or other furniture, bring the speakers all the way to the
fronts of the openings so their front edges are even with the front
edges of the furniture.

In most cases you will want to orient the center speaker
horizontally, but you may also orient it vertically without affecting
its performance. Locate the center speaker as close to the same
height as the left and right speakers as possible. This will help
maintain consistent tonality between all three front speakers. If
you must place the center speaker above or below a video
screen, we recommend placing it no more than 2 feet (0.6m)
above or below the center of the left and right speakers. Use
Figure 2 as a guide.
If the center speaker is placed above or below ear level, angle it
up or down so it is aimed directly at the listeners. Use a pair of
rubber door stops or similar devices to elevate the front or rear
edge of the speaker cabinet as required.
Attaching the Rubber Feet
Peel the adhesive backing from the included rubber feet. If you
are orienting the speaker vertically, place the feet on one of the
speaker’s end panels. If you are orienting the speaker horizontally,
place the feet on one of the speaker ’s side panels (see Figure 3 ).
The feet should be located approximately 1” (25mm) from the
speaker’s edges.

• To u s e ba n a n a c o n n e ct o r s: Tighten the binding post
nut so it is fully closed and insert the connector into the opening in the rear of the binding post.
• T o u s e s p a d e l u g s : Loosen the binding post nut,
insert the spade lug around the binding post’s center shaft,
and tighten the binding post nut to secure.
• To u s e pi n s a n d bar e w i r e : Loosen the binding post
nut to expose the opening in the post’s center shaft. Insert the
pin or bare wire through the opening and tighten the binding
post nut to secure the wire. We recommend tinning bare wire
with solder to prevent stray strands that can cause short-circuits.

Placing the Cinema LCR1 Cabinet speaker on top of a TV or in a
book case can increase the speaker’s bass by as much as 6dB in
the 65Hz – 200Hz range. This can affect the naturalness of music
and make male voices sound thick and heavy. You can check for
this by playing pink noise through the left, center, and right
speakers and noting any tonal differences between them.
OFER
If any of the speakers is affected this way, set its W
O
BOUNDA RY COMPENSATION switch to the ON position to reduce its
output in the 65Hz – 200Hz range.
Cleaning the Speakers
Clean the cabinet with a damp cloth. Do NOT use liquid
cleaners or aerosol sprays as they may permanently damage the
cabinet’s finish. When cleaning the baffle panel, be careful not
to touch the speaker drivers.
