provides ideal acoustic performance and maximum reduction of sound transmission into adjacent spaces. Designed for use only in new construction.
Sonafill®In-Wall System (part# 91698): Retrofittable acoustical treatment for in-wall speakers consisting of two pillows and four tiles that virtually eliminates noise produced by resonating drywall. Dramatically improves midbass sound quality and reduces sound transmission into adjacent rooms.
WOOFER PLACEMENT
The Sonance Virtuoso A800D woofer fits into walls built with standard 2” x 4”stud construction.
Home Theater Placement
For highest output and best overall performance the Virtuoso A800D woofer should be placed in the front corner of the room. Place the woofer as close as possible to the left, center and right speakers to assure seamless integration of the sound from the main speakers and the woofer.
• The woofer should not be mounted in the same stud bay as the left or right speakers.
Use Illustration 1 as a guide.
For optimum results contact your Authorized Sonance Dealer for advice.
2-Channel Placement
In a 2-channel system the A800D should be located on a corner of the room, as close as possible to the left or right speaker. Corner placement provides the highest output and best overall performance for the A800D woofer.
Use Illustration 2 as a guide.

WIRE GAUGE
Extra resistance in the speaker wire can make speakers sound less dynamic and reduce definition of the bass frequencies. In extreme cases, it can even attenuate high frequencies. Also, amplifier power is wasted in wire with extra resistance, reducing your system’s maximum output level.
Refer to the following table when selecting the proper wire gauge for your system:
PREPARING THE INSTALLATION LOCATION
All Sonance speakers are designed to be relatively insensitive to variations in enclosure volume. To achieve the ultimate performance from your woofer, a section of the stud bay can be sectioned-off to form a back box. Building such an enclosure will create a dramatic improvement in your woofer’s bass performance and power handling.
Ideal back box volume requirements: 1.5 cu. ft. (45.5 liters)
Insulating the Wall Cavity
You can reduce sound transmission to adjacent rooms and further improve speaker performance by inserting a sheet of unfaced fiberglass insulation over the back of the woofer.
To reduce noise produced by unsupported drywall, install fiberglass insulation in the stud bays adjacent to the woofer location.
