1. The digital satellite tracking system

The advanced technology in the satellite tracking system Simrad Marine
TV makes it possible to have an excellent television reception wherever you
are. Due to an unlimited 360° high-speed tracking, a non-stop access to your
favorite channels is guaranteed even during your trip on a vessel in open seas.

The satellite tracking system is protected by a UV-stabilized and maritime cli­mate proof radome, easy to handle and maintain. High-speed tracking sensors
developed for this system, using high-tech components of the electronic signal
processing, provide the topmost and dynamic tracking accuracy of the satellite
tracking system. With the help of this technology, Simrad Marine TV guaran­tees an unmatched tracking rate, dynamic and system performance.

Simrad Marine TV is suitable for any size vessel including smaller boats of
less than 36 ft (11m).

The automatic satellite tracking system includes a reflector antenna dish of
18“ (45 cm) or 23.6“ (60 cm) in diameter that is capable of tracking horizon­tally and vertically by its direct servo drive (except TV45) to make an amazing
choice of channels available – just like home.

Once the connection to a satellite is established, the tracking system will stay
connected to the correct satellite even in the roughest sea conditions.

Note! The reception of programs in different regions depends on the footprints of
the satellites. Also, the TV reception can be affected by rain, snow, dense clouds
and extreme movements in areas of weak signals.

• All the antennas, except TV46 Twin, will require a Multi-User kit to con­nect more than one receiver. The TV46 Twin antenna will only require the
kit if more than two receivers are to be connected.

• On single antennas with more than one user (receiver), all the receivers will
be on the same band as the master i.e. if the master receiver switches band,
all other connected receivers will get this new band too.

• On multi antennas, all the users (receivers) can switch between the bands
independently.

1.2 Safety recommendations

 Please note that the maximum power voltage for the antenna unit

must be between 11.5 and 36 volts DC, and the overload protection
should be rated min. 5 amp. and max. 7.5 amp.

 When mounting the antenna, the distance from the antenna unit

to other radiation sources e.g. radar equipment or other antennas
(mobile communication antennas) should be min. 2.5 m (8 ft).

 Simultaneous operation of radar and satellite antenna may damage

the satellite antenna if not installed directly above the radar antenna.

 Do not use the control unit outdoors.

 During a thunderstorm, we recommend that the connection cables

are disconnected.

 If the negative side of the antenna unit’s supply voltage has no con-

nection to ship’s ground (earth), then the antenna unit’s ground point
should be connected directly to ship’s ground (earth).

 After the installation is completed, all other electronic systems i.e.

GPS, Radar, VHF, FM, AM etc. should be tested for full functional­ity, while the antenna is turned on.

 Do not test or turn on the antenna before the radome is fitted cor-

rectly. If the sun reflects into the dish, the electronics can be dam­aged.

 Do not touch the rotary joint.

 Do not attempt to open the sealed electronics, as this will void the

warranty.

1.4 Key functions

The operation of the Simrad Marine TV system is controlled from the control
unit. It is a good idea if you make yourself familiar with the key functions and
to memorize their usage in the menu structure:

Power key

Short press will turn on the power or will enter Standby mode after
initialization.

Browse key

Short press will browse through all available menus, step by step.

Select key

Short press will select/confirm what is written in the display.

Note! From the Standby mode: Hold Select key depressed while using

the Browse key to scroll through available data: serial no., counter
operation time, and software versions. See section 5.3.

1.5 Password access to Setup menu

To gain access to the setup menu will require that you first enter a password.
It is always the same password which have to be entered. When

Setup is

flashing in the display:

1. Press

The time between each keystrokes should not exceed two seconds or the
password request will be annulled. If so, the display will return to a flashing

Setup and you will have to restart from point 1.

If the password is entered correctly, you are now in the Setup menu.

2. Control elements

2.1 Control unit

2.2 Preparing the receiver

SIMRAD Marine TV does not need a special receiver. The satellite tracking
system can be connected to any commercial receiver for digital and analogue
reception. Only the LNB-type in the setup menu of the receiver has to be set
on “Universal” (LOF 9,75/10,6 GHz). If you want several satellite positions,
the DiSEqC™ function for an automatic satellite switch has to be activated.

To program your receiver, please refer to the respective owner’s manual!

 For every satellite at least one program must be preprogrammed in the

receiver to control the satellite position of the antenna unit by means of
the TV picture quality. If not, preprogram the receiver by using an already
installed satellite system!

 In case the receiver supports the function, adjust the receiver so that the

power supply of the LNB is turned off during the standby-mode. This
means that the control unit and the antenna unit are without power supply.
This function enables the turning on and off of the antenna unit via remote
control of the receiver, which lowers the power consumption.

 In case several receivers are connected to the antenna simultaneously (e.g.

a digital receiver with analogue receiver looped through) both receivers
must have identical DiSEqC™ settings i.e. active or inactive.

2.3 Power on / off / standby

The antenna unit is controlled by the control unit, which is turned on by press­ing the

(power) key. To enter Standby mode, press the key from any menu

after the initialization is completed.

 When the control unit is in standby mode there will be no power supply to

the antenna.

2.4 Adjusting the setup parameters

Modifications can only be made in the setup menu. In the main menu only the
flashing functions can be selected.

1. Turn on the control unit. The display shows

Init (flashing), meaning ini-

tialization is in progress.

2. After the initialization is completed, you are in the main menu with the
display flashing

Setup. The setup menu has password access - see section

1.5.

3. If the password is entered correctly, you are now in the setup menu. The
display shows

Tra c k in g, press to select.

4. Tracking is preset to On. Toggle between On and Off with the

key. With
Off, tracking is deactivated (see section 3.1). With On, tracking is activated
i.e. the satellite can be tracked. Press

to select.

5. The display shows

Tra c k in g. Press to go to Fas t Sc a n mode. Press

to select or

to continue from point 7.

6. Fastscan is preset to On. Toggle between On and Off with the

key (see
section 5.4). With On, Fastscan is activated i.e. the search for the correct
satellite works faster (US only). Press

to select.

7. The display shows

Fa s t S c a n. Press to go to LNB Type. Press to

select.

8. The display will show the standard setting

lin 0 which is valid for

Europe. By pressing the

key you can change the LNB settings. Press

to select. The display will return to:

LNB Type.

 The standard setting

lin 0 is the only one supported by a standard system.

Reception from satellites with a rotated skew will require an optional LNB
mounting with variable skew (see Appendix D). Reception from circular
polarized satellites will require a circular LNB type.

9. Press

repeatedly until the legend Comp Cal appears. Press to select.

 The calibration of the compass must be carried out in the harbor in calm

waters! If the mounting surface of the antenna unit changes, or if the super­structures in the vicinity of the antenna unit are modified, the calibration
has to be done again! See also section 5.1.

10. The display interchanges between the legends:

Compass and UpDate?.

Press

to calibrate.

11. The display interchanges between the legends:

checking until the legend complete is shown for a brief

moment, and then returns to

Comp Cal, which indicates that the calibra-

tion of the compass is completed.

12. Pr e ss

to go to quit, and press to confirm.

The system is now adjusted to surrounding conditions and is ready to search
for satellites to be stored.

3. TV operation

Press the power key to turn on the control unit. The display shows

Init

for ini-

tialization. After the initialization is completed, the display interchanges between

scanning

and

Sat

X (X is the last shown storage position) until the satellite

has been located. The system will now run a check on the satellite:

If o.k., the display will briefly indicate

complete

and then return to Sat X.
The antenna willl maintain its connection to the satellite even when the boat is
moving. (Providing that the tracking function is active, see section 2.4).

If you wish to select a different satellite, press

repeatedly until the desired

satellite position appears, and then confirm with

 If no satellites are stored, the display will show Setup (flashing).

You are now back in the main menu and can add new satellites (see sec.4.1).

If the search for a new satellite takes more than 1 minute, even though there is
a clear view to the satellite, or if, after several times finding the right satel­lite, the display shows

upd reco and interchanging with the actual satellite

number, then the satellite data base has to be updated, see section 4.2.

If there is no picture on the TV after the satellite has been checked and found
o.k., there are two possibilities:

1. The satellite service provider has changed the transponders or it is the

wrong satellite. In order to proof the right satellite has been found, try to
switch to other programs on the receiver. If all other programs are in their
usual places, you need to reprogram your receiver for the program which
have changed. Please refer to the manual of the receiver.

2. US only: In case that no program can be received, try to turn off the Fast-

scan function, see section 5.4.

When changes are made, return to

Sat

X and press to start a new search.

If the search for a new satellite takes longer than 4 minutes and after some time
the display shows

Sat ok ?

, then the requested satellite could not be found.
All available satellites will be presented and the operator can choose one.
Make sure the receiver is switched to a program from this satellite, so the
correct satellite can be identified. If the display shows

Sat ok ? and there is

no picture on the TV, press

to continue the search. This has to be repeated,

until the TV shows the correct program. Press

to confirm.

The display will now interchange between

Sat

X and

UpDate ?

. Press to

update the satellite data base. The display will flash:

, and shortly

and the the requested program will appear on the TV. If the display interchanges

during the search, no suitable satellite could

be found. Press

to go to the main menu and the display will flash

Check all cable connections and make sure there is a clear view (no obstacles) to
the satellite and the receiver is correctly adjusted. Then repeat this procedure.

 The menu item Upd Sat is not shown when the tracking function is deac-

tivated (see section 3.1).

Should the antenna lose the signal from the satellite (due to a passing boat,
buildings on shore, bridges, or superstructures on own boat), the display will
interchange between

Sat X (stored position of current satellite) and no Sig,

for the duration of the missing satellite reception.
The tracking mode will automatically restart when the vessel is turned. The
display interchanges between

scanning

and

Sat

X. In case superstructures

obstruct the view to the satellite, turn the vessel or the satellite cannot be found!

 If you wish to select a specific satellite, refer to section 4.4.

3.1 Stop Tracking function in harbors

If the boat is in a harbor, the tracking function can be deactivated to stop the
tracking (noise-reduction). Proceed as follows:

1. Press

repeatedly until the display flashes. This is the main menu.

2. To go to the setup menu, press

repeatedly until the display shows Setup

(flashing), then press

, Enter password, see section 1.5. If the password

is correct you are in the Setup menu with the display:

3. Press

to select, and press to toggle between ON and OFF. The track-

ing function must be in OFF position to be deactivated. Confirm with

.

4. The display returns to

Tra c k in g. Press repeatedly until the display

shows

quit. Confirm with . The display returns to: Setup.

You are now back in the main menu and can switch to other satellites or make
adjustments in the setup menu.

 When the tracking function is deactivated, the antenna does not track the

satellite, so it is possible that the TV picture sometimes can deteriorate
or drop out. A re-alignment with the satellite is always possible: Press
repeatedly until the display shows

Sat X (flashing), then press .

4. Satellites

4.1 Adding new satellites

To search and store new satellites must be done in the harbor in calm waters!
For every satellite at least one program must be preprogrammed in the receiver
to control the satellite position of the antenna unit by means of the TV picture
quality. Make sure the preprogrammed TVstation for the desired satellite is
turned on at the receiver, as the system stops at each receivable satellite. The
satellite can be identified by the quality of the TV picture.

Please proceed as follows:

1. To go to the setup menu, press

repeatedly until the display shows Setup

(flashing), then press

. Enter password, see section 1.5. If the password is

correct you are in the Setup menu with the display:

2. Press

repeatedly until New Sat appears. Press to select.



New Sat only appears in the display if free satellite storage positions are

available. If all storage positions are occupied, then the less required ones
have to be deleted first. (See section 4.3).

3. The legend

ScnBand? will be shown for 2 seconds. After that, use the

key to change band between Band 1 and Band 4 to select the band in

which the satellite will be searched:

Band 1 10700 MHz - 11700 MHz (Polarization Vertical)
Band 2 10700 MHz - 11700 MHz (Polarization Horizontal)
Band 3 11700 MHz - 12750 MHz (Polarization Vertical)
Band 4 11700 MHz - 12750 MHz (Polarization Horizontal)

search mode (see point 1), check if there is a clear view to the satellite, if the
program selected on the receiver is o.k. (possibly change to another program)
and if the respective satellite can be received in this area!

If no satellite is found, repeat the search in another band (see point 3).

 Before you restart the search-mode, make sure that no superstructures

obstruct the view to the satellite!

9. The search mode stops after a satellite is found. The display shows

Sat ok? (flashing). Check the quality of the TV picture! In case there

is no picture or the wrong TV program, proceed with the search mode by
pressing

repeatedly until the correct TV program is found. Press to

confirm.

10. The display shows

Save as? just for a brief moment.

11. A list of the different storage positions is shown. Use the

key to toggle

between

Sat 1 and Sat 4 , confirm with .

Note! Only free storage positions are shown. Every receiver supporting
the DiSEqC™ function, allocates the satellite positions to one of the
DiSEqC™ positions 1 – 4. Therefore, make sure that all satellites in the
DiSEqC™ menu of the receiver and of the antenna unit are stored under the
same number! This allows the use of the

Auto Sat function (see section

4.4.2).

 Example: Satellite Astra is stored under DiSEqC™ position 2 in the

receiver, meaning that this satellite has to be stored in the antenna unit
under

Sat 2 ! Receivers which do not support the DiSEqC™ function

will allow any order of numbers. Press

.

12. The display interchanges between a flashing Sat X and save?, where X is

the previously chosen storage position. Confirm with

.

If you want to abandon the function, press

, which interrupts the storage.

The display will briefly show

cancel and then return to Sat ok?.

You may now continue the search, or you can store the satellite just
received at another storage position. (See point 4).

13. If you chose to ‘confirm’ in point 12, the display shows

saving.. (flash-

ing) for approximately 1 minute. The data of the satellite is now automati­cally memorized and stored. The display shows:

checking.

 While the data is being stored, the ship must not move, a permanent clear

view to the satellite must be guaranteed, and the antenna unit must not be
turned off!

14. When the data is memorized, the display shows

complete for a brief

moment and then the system automatically jumps to the TV mode of the
just stored satellite (the display shows

Sat X, where X is the storage posi-

tion). The ship can now be moved and the reception tested.
In case a failure occurs and the data is not memorized correctly, the display
shows

Err Save and the calibration has to be done again.

 For each new satellite, the search mode must be repeated! You can store up

to four satellites (TV46/60) or two satellites (TV45).

4.2 Update of satellite data base

Example of update: The Astra satellite was stored in German waters and now
the vessel was sailing in Scandinavian waters. The angles of the satellite has
therefore moved and it takes longer to locate the satellite. To shorten the search
time, new data for the angles has to be stored:

1. To go to the setup menu, press

repeatedly until the display shows Setup

(flashing), then press

, Enter password, see section 1.5. If the password

is correct you are in the Setup menu.

2. Press

repeatedly until Upd Sat appears. Now the up-to-date angles can

be stored by pressing

.

 Please keep in mind, that the menu item

Upd Sat is not shown, if the

tracking function is deactivated (See section 3.1).

3. The display interchanges between

Sat X (storage position of current satel-

lite) and UpDate?.

To abandon, press / to confirm (if the picture quality is optimal), press

5. If you chose ‘abandon’, the display shows cancel for a brief moment.
If you chose ‘confirm’, the display interchanges between a flashing

updating and checking.

6. After correct calibration, the display shows

complete for a brief moment

and then the system automatically jumps to the TV mode. If the update was
not successfull the display shows

Err Save and the system returns to the

menu item

Upd Sat. In this case, please repeat the calibration.

Next time the antenna is turned on, the stored angles and frequency data of the
satellite are for the current area. This procedure can be repeated in every other
region (at a distance of 200-300 km), because the angles of the satellite move
with every change of the vessel’s position.

4.3 Delete stored data

To delete stored satellite positions, the following steps must be completed:

1. Go to the setup menu: press

repeatedly until the display shows Setup

(flashing), then press

, Enter password, see section 1.5. If the password

is correct you are in the Setup menu.

2. The display now shows

Tra c k in g. Press repeatedly until Del Sat

appears. Press

.



Del Sat can only appear if there are satellites stored in the system.

3. The display shows

Sat X, where X is the first satellite storage position to

be deleted. Press

and .

4. The display interchanges between

Sat X and Delete?. To confirm, press

/ to abandon, press

5. If you chose ‘confirm’ the display shows complete for a brief moment. If
you chose ‘abandon’, the display shows

cancel.

6. In both cases, the display will return to

Del Sat.

 If no further satellites are available for deletion, the display shows

If there are more satellites in the system you wish to delete, press

repeat from point 3! If you want to leave the menu, press

until quit appears

and then press

. The display shows Setup (flashing).
You are now back in the main menu and can switch to other satellites by press­ing the

key or make adjustments in the setup menu.

4.4 Selection of stored satellites

The satellite tracking system is able to switch between stored satellite posi­tions (see chapter 3) either by using the control box or the receiver (automatic).

4.4.1 Manual selection of satellites

To select a satellite manually, follow the below procedure:

1. Press

repeatedly until the display shows flashing Sat X, where X is the

satellite storage position.

2. Select between the storage positions 1 - 4 by pressing

. Confirm with .

 Only satellites already stored are shown.

The display interchanges between

scanning and Sat X, where X is the

desired storage position. After the satellite is found, the display will continue
to show X. The satellite tracking system is now in TV mode.

4.4.2 Automatic selection of satellites

To select a satellite automatically, the receiver must support the DiSEqC™
function. Furthermore, it is important that all satellites in the DiSEqC™ menu
of the receiver and of the antenna unit are stored under the same number!

 Example: Satellite Astra is stored under DiSEqC™ position 2 in the

receiver, meaning that this satellite has to be stored in the antenna unit
under

Sat 2.

1. Press

repeatedly until the display flashes Auto Sat. Press . From

now on, the antenna unit will take over the satellite positions from the
receiver. The display interchanges between

scanning and Sat X, where

X is the desired storing position. After the satellite is located, the display
will continue to show

Sat X. The satellite tracking system is now in TV

mode.

 If

Auto Sat does not appear in the display, the feature is not supported

by the receiver (or not activated). The setting is “DiSEqC 1..4” or similar.
Refer to the user manual of the receiver. The TV45 does not support this
feature.

If the selected satellite is not stored in the antenna unit, the display inter­changes between

5. Miscellaneous

5.1 Compass calibration

The calibration of the compass has to be executed in the harbor in calm
waters! If the mounting surface of the antenna unit changes, or if the super­structures in vicinity of the antenna unit are modified, the calibration has to
be done again!

Please proceed as follows:

1. To go to the setup menu, press

repeatedly until the display shows Setup

(flashing), then press

, Enter password, see section 1.5. If the password

is correct you are in the Setup menu with the display:

repeatedly until Comp Cal appears. Press to confirm.

3. The display interchanges between the legends:

Compass and UpDate?.

Press

to calibrate.

Comp Cal, which indicates that the calibra-

tion of the compass is completed. If the display shows

Err Comp, the

calibration was not successfull and has to be repeated. If several attempts
remain unsuccessfully, there are too many ferromagnetic objects close by
the antenna causing electromagnetic disturbance.

 If the removal of these objects is not possible, the system will not be work-

ing efficiently (the time from switching on to finding a stored satellite will
take much longer). The tracking characteristics are not affected!

5. The display will return to

Comp Cal. Press to go to quit, and press

to confirm. The display shows

Setup (flashing).

You are now back in the main menu and can switch to other satellites by press­ing the

key or make adjustments in the setup menu.

5.2 Adjustment of the LNB type

In order to change the LNB type, follow the below procedure:

1. To go to the setup menu, press

(flashing), then press

lin 0 is the only one supported by a standard system.

Reception from satellites with a rotated skew will require an optional LNB
mounting with variable skew (see Appendix D). Reception from circular
polarized satellites will require a circular LNB type.

4. Press

repeatedly until the legend quit appears, then press . The dis-

play shows

Setup (flashing).

You are now back in the main menu and can switch to other satellites by press­ing the

key or make adjustments in the setup menu.

5.3 Special functions via the standby mode

The following information can be obtained via the standby mode: software ver­sion of antenna unit and control unit, serial number and operating hours counter.

1. Turn on the control unit. The display shows Init, meaning initialization is
started. Wait for the initialization to be completed, and then press the

key

to enter standby mode.

2. To obtain the special functions, press and hold the

while toggling

between the following functions with the

key:

• serial number.

• operating hours counter.

• software version of the antenna unit:

VA X-XX

• software version of the control unit: VC X-XX

3. After releasing the key, the display returns to Sta ndby.

5.4 Fastscan function (US only)

The tracking system will work faster with the fastscan function. However, if
the antenna is locked to a satellite and the TV does not show a picture, then
the fastscan function must be deactivated by following these steps:

6. Installation

6.1 Standard delivery

The satellite tracking system SIMRAD Marine TV comes complete with elec­tronic assemblies, cables and other necessary installation material.

System components: • Antenna unit (with serial number)

• Control unit

• Four mounting screws M8

 Please check the completeness of all components. Make sure that no trans-

port damages exist before you start the installation.

6.2 Installation overview

The installation work has to be done in the following order:

• Select location

• Check the mounting surface for stability

• Check cable path

• Position of power distributor

• Drill holes and lay the cable

• Install antenna unit (see also addendum for instructions of how to
undo the fixed transportation position before power-up)

• Make all installation openings watertight

• Connect cables

For the installation the following tools are needed:

• Electric drill

• One 4mm and one 8.5-9mm bits

• Hexagon socket wrench size 6

• Wrench M 8

 Plan the entire installation first! To avoid mistakes or damages to the

boat or satellite tracking system, please read the installation instructions
carefully before starting the installation.

6.3 Selecting location

This illustration shows the importance of a proper location for the antenna
unit.

Note that criteria such as an unobstructed view to the satellite and a strong
mounting surface are met. Furthermore, no sources of interference, e.g. radar
equipment or other antennas, such as mobile communication antennas, should
be installed nearby the Marine TV antenna unit. A minimum distance of 8-12
ft. (2-3 meters) has to be observed in order not to affect the picture quality.
Although the radome is sealed, it is recommended to avoid direct waves and
bilge water!

The antenna unit has to be installed so that no superstructures will obstruct
the sight to the satellite! Please note, that the elevation angle depends on the
geographical location of the boat and on the selected satellite!



Equally important for a good installation are the conditions of the mounting
surface and the lengths of the different cables. See section 6.4, 6.5 and 6.6.

6.4 Mounting surface

A horizontal, solid and steady surface is very important. Make sure that the
surface does not have any irregularities!

Furthermore, please take into consideration that the weight of the antenna unit
is 40 lbs. (18 kg) or more. Therefore, the surface has to be strong enough to
carry the antenna unit, even during the most challenging maritime conditions.

6.5 Planning the cable paths

Before starting the installation, you should check which walls are suitable and
if existing openings can be used for the cables.

 All openings have to be sealed in order to avoid any water penetrating.

The control unit should be placed as close as possible to the receiver. The
maximum length of the cable is 3 meters. Refer to Appendix E for data con­cerning appropriate cable types.

6.6 Power supply

The antenna unit can be connected directly to any ship’s power supply net of
12/24/32 volts DC. The circuit fuse should be rated for min. 5 amperes and
max 7.5 amperes! (See appendix G “Technical Specifications”).

 The power distributor must be idle while working on the ship’s supply net

or you may short circuit the system.

If the negative side of the supply voltage of the antenna unit has no connection
to the boat ground, make sure a potential compensation between boat ground
and the ground point of the antenna unit is made.

6.7 Drillings

To avoid any damage to the mounting surface it is recommended that you
start out with drilling a smaller hole, using a 3.5-4 mm bit before drilling the
correct hole size. Use an 8.5-9 mm bit to drill 4 mounting holes for the M8
screws included. To drill the holes in the correct positions, please refer to the
included template.

The drilling template also shows the hole for the cable, which has to be drilled
only in case the cable will be led through the mounting surface. However, the
cable can also be led through the cable channel between the mounting surface
and the bottom of the radome to avoid further drilling.

 If the antenna unit is mounted on the cabin roof (not device carrier or sepa-

rate mounting plates) close all drillings with waterproof sealing material to
avoid any water penetrating!

6.8 Mounting the antenna unit

The antenna unit has to be mounted on a solid and steady surface. Take care
that the cable lengths are sufficient, the antenna unit must have an unob­structed view to the satellite and there must be no interference fields (espe­cially mobile communication antennas) nearby.

Place the antenna unit on the pre-drilled holes and fasten it with the included
screws and washers. The screws have to be screwed in from below through the
mounting surface into the radome.

 Close all drillings with waterproof sealing material to avoid any water pen-

etrating!

6.9 System cable connections

 Break the contact of the circuit on which you are working to avoid short

circuit the system.

•

The antenna cable must be connected to the control unit and the antenna unit.

• The power supply cable to the power distributor and the antenna unit.

• The receiver cable to the control unit and the receiver.

See system overview and illustration details in Appendix E and at the end of
the manual.

Lead the cable through the drilled holes and seal it with waterproof sealing
material. Furthermore, drip loops should precede the entry point from the
exterior to avoid any water penetrating, see below illustration:

Find a suitable location for all units within cable lengths. That means that the

control unit should be placed nearby the receiver. Take care that the display
of the control unit can be easily read and the pushbuttons are accessible. And
also, allow room for the cables behind the control unit!

 The antenna unit is separated from the power supply net by the control

unit. Therefore, the antenna unit has electric power when the control unit is
turned on!

APPENDICES

A Maintenance

The satellite tracking system SIMRAD Marine TV does not require a lot of
maintenance. The following instructions are sufficient to sustain the optimal
capacity of the antenna unit:

• Clean the radome once a month, using fresh water and a mild detergent to
remove dirt and salt deposits.

• Do not detach the radome!

• Do not spray directly on the radome with high pressure water from a hose!

• Check cable connections to be tight and free of corrosion. Clean the cables
regularly.



The radome has a protective layer of UV-stabilized and maritime climate­proof lacquer. Do not apply any additional paint, wax, preservative, solvent,
chemicals or adhesive labels. Any kind of coating will void warranty claims!
In case any solvent comes in contact with the radome by accident, rinse the
area immediately with water and, if necessary, with a mild detergent!

Special instructions for US installations:

The type of the receiver must be Wide Band. The receiver must be set to Wide
Band Mode to receive all channels.
If the receiver supply is less than 300mA it is not sufficient to run the system.
Delivery of US antennas will therefore include a DC Inserter, which will
supply sufficient DC power via the AC Adapter. The DC Inserter must be
placed in the Coaxial Line to the antenna. Take care that the DC Inserter and
the AC Adapter is positioned correctly and according to the illustrations at the
end of the manual. The AC adapter operates on 110V.

1 Das digitale Satellitenempfangssystem

Das Satellitenempfangssystem SIMRAD Marine TV ermöglicht Ihnen durch
modernste Technik uneingeschränkten Fernsehgenuß. Durch ein unbegrenz­tes Rundum-High-Speed-Tracking garantiert es selbst während der Fahrt auf
offener See einen unterbrechungsfreien Empfang Ihrer Lieblingssender.

Das Satellitenempfangssystem ist durch ein UV- und seeklimabeständiges
Radom geschützt und ist in seiner Handhabung so einfach wie in seiner War­tung. Die eigens für dieses System entwickelte Hochgeschwindigkeitssensorik
übernimmt mittels Hightech-Komponenten der elektronischen Signalverarbei­tung die exakte und hochdynamische Zielverfolgung des Satelliten. Mit Hilfe
dieser Technologie gewährleistet das System SIMRAD Marine TV eine bisher
unerreichte Nachführgeschwindigkeit, Dynamik und Systemgüte.

SIMRAD Marine TV eignet sich für Yachten jeder Größe und kann selbst auf
kleineren Booten von weniger als 11m (36 ft.) Länge eingesetzt werden.

Das automatische Satellitenempfangssystem SIMRAD Marine TV verfügt
über eine Reflektorantenne mit 45 cm bzw. 60 cm Durchmesser, welche in
zwei Achsen horizontal und vertikal durch Direktservoantriebe (außer Modell
TV45) nachgeführt wird. Somit wird eine Fernsehempfangsqualität und Pro­grammvielfalt beinahe wie zu Hause möglich.

Ist der Satellit erst einmal lokalisiert, verfolgt das Antennensystem diesen
punktgenau, auch unter rauhen maritimen Bedingungen.

Zu den Empfangsmöglichkeiten einzelner Programme in verschiedenen Regionen beachten
Sie bitte die Ausleuchtzonen der verschiedenen Fernsehsatelliten. Bitte beachten Sie weiterhin,
daß viele Faktoren wie z.B. Regen, Schnee und dichte Wolken den Fernsehempfang in den

Randbereichen der Satellitenausleuchtzone beeinflussen können.

als einen Receiver anzuschliesen. Die TV46 Twin benötigt dieses Kit nur,
wenn mehr als zwei Receiver angeschlossen werden sollen.

1.2 Sicherheitshinweise

 Beachten Sie die zulässige Betriebsspannung der Antenneneinheit.

Sie muss zwischen 11,5 V= und 36 V= liegen und ist mit min. 5 A
und max. 7,5 A abzusichern.

 Der Montageabstand der Antenneneinheit zu anderen Strahlungs-

quellen (wie z.B. Radaranlagen oder anderen Antennen (Mobilfunk­antennen) muss mind. 2,5 m betragen.

 Ein gleichzeitiger Betrieb von Radar und Satellitenantenne kann

die Satellitenantenne beschädigen, wenn diese nicht direkt über der
Radarantenne montiert ist.

 Die Bedieneinheit darf nur in geschlossenen Räumen betrieben

werden.

 Während eines Gewitters müssen die Anschlussleitungen abgetrennt

werden.

 Sollte der Minuspol der Betriebsspannung der Antenneneinheit nicht

mit der Bootsmasse verbunden sein, so ist der Erdungspunkt der
Antenneneinheit direkt zur Bootsmasse zu verbinden.

 Nach der Installation der Antenne sind bei laufender Antenne alle

anderen Funksysteme (GPS, Radar, FM, AM ...) auf volle Funktion
zu überprüfen.

 Die Antenne nicht testen oder betreiben, wenn das Radom nicht

korrekt montiert ist. Reflektierte Sonnenlichteinstrahlung im Spiegel
kann die Elektronik beschädigen.

 Die Drehverbindung nicht berühren.

 Versuchen Sie nicht, die versiegelte Elektronik-Box zu öffnen. Dies

würde zu einem Verlust Ihres Gewährleistungsanspruchs führen.

1.4 Tastenfunktionen

Der Betrieb der Simrad Marine TV wird durch das Bedienteil gesteuert. Hier
ist eine kurze Übersicht über die Tastenfunktionen:

Power-Taste

Beim Druck auf diese Taste wird das die Antenne eingeschaltet und
nach der Initialisierung in den Standby-Mode geschaltet.

Browse-Taste

Beim Druck auf diese Taste werden alle jeweils möglichen Menü­punkte angezeigt.

Select-Taste

Beim Druck auf diese Taste wird die aktuelle Auswahl bestätigt.

Im Standby-Mode: Drücken und halten Sie die Select-Taste und

wählen Sie mit der Browse-Taste die gewünschte Information (Seri­ennummer, Betriebstundenzähler, SW-Version). Siehe Kapitel 5.3

1.5 Passwort für den zugang zum Setup-Menü

Um in das Setup-Menü zu gelangen, müssen sie erst ein Passwort eingeben.
Es dient dazu, versehentliche Änderungen im Setup zu verhindern. Es muß
immer das gleiche Passwort eingegeben werden. Wenn SETUP blinkend im
Display steht, dann:

2. Bedienungselemente

2.1 Bedieneinheit

2.2 Vorbereitung des Receivers

SIMRAD Marine TV benötigt keinen speziellen Receiver. Das Satellitenemp­fangssystem läßt sich sowohl für digitalen als auch analogen Empfang mit
jedem handelsüblichen Receiver kombinieren. Im Setup-Menü des Receivers
muß lediglich der LNB-Typ auf „Universal“ (LOF 9,75/10,6 GHz) gesetzt
werden. Sind mehrere Satellitenpositionen erwünscht, muß die DiSEqC™

- Funktion für einen automatischen Satellitenwechsel aktiviert sein.

Beziehen Sie sich bei der Programmierung des Receivers auf die entspre­chende Bedienungsanleitung!

 Für jeden Satelliten muß mindestens ein Programm im Receiver vorpro-

grammiert sein, damit die Satellitenposition der Antenneneinheit anhand
des Fernsehbildes kontrolliert werden kann. Sollte dies nicht der Fall sein,
so führen Sie die Vorprogrammierung an einer bereits installierten Satelli­tenanlage durch!

 Falls der Receiver die Funktion unterstützt, so stellen Sie ihn so ein, daß

die Stromversorgung des LNB im Standby ausgeschaltet ist. Dadurch sind
automatisch die Bedieneinheit und die Antenneneinheit ohne Strom. Durch
diese Funktion ist das Ein- und Ausschalten der Antenneneinheit einzig
über die Fernbedienung des Receivers möglich, wodurch Strom gespart
werden kann!

 Für den Fall, daß gleichzeitig mehrere Receiver an die Antenne angeschlos-

sen werden (z.B. Digitalreceiver mit durchgeschleiftem Analogreceiver)
müssen beide Receiver identische DiSEqC™- Einstellungen haben. Ent­weder beide Receiver DiSEqC™ -aktiv oder beide Receiver DiSEqC™
inaktiv.

2.3 Ein- und Ausschalten der Antenneneinheit

Die Antenne wird durch das Bedienteil gesteuert, welches durch Druck auf
die

(Power) Taste eingeschaltet wird. Drücken Sie die (Power) Taste um

nach der Initialisierung in den Standby-Mode zu gelangen.

 Wenn sich das Bedienteil im Standby-Mode befindet, wird die Antenne

nicht mit Strom versorgt.

2.4 Einstellung der Setup-Parameter

Änderungen können nur im Setup-Menü vorgenommen werden. Im Haupt­menü können lediglich die Funktionen ausgewählt werden, die blinkend auf
dem Display erscheinen.

1. Schalten Sie die Bedieneinheit ein. Auf dem Display erscheint blinkend

Init, d.h. die Initialisierung wird durchgeführt.

2. Wenn die Initialisierungsphase beendet ist, befinden Sie sich im Haupt­menü und das Display zeigt blinkemd

Setup. Um in das Setup-Menü zu

gelangen, geben Sie das Passwort ein. Siehe Kapitel 1.5

3. Wenn das Passwort korrekt eingegeben wurde, befinden Sie sich im Setup­Menü. Im Display steht

4. Es erscheint die Standardeinstellung

On auf dem Display. Wählen Sie die

On oder Off durch Druck auf die Taste. In der Stellung Off,

Mit der optional erhältlichen LNB-Halterung mit variablem Skew können
auch Satelliten mit stark verdrehtem Skew empfangen werden (Siehe
Anhang D). Für zirkulare Satelliten wird ein zirkulares LNB benötigt.

9. Drücken Sie

bis Comp Cal erscheint. Drücken Sie .

 Die Kalibrierung des Kompasses ist nur im Hafen bei ruhigem Wasser

durchzuführen! Weiterhin muß die Kalibrierung immer bei Änderungen
des Montageuntergrundes der Antenneneinheit bzw. bei Änderungen an
den Aufbauten in unmittelbarer Nähe der Antenneneinheit durchgeführt
werden! Siehe auch Kapitel 5.1.

10. Auf dem Display erscheint

Compass im Wechsel mit UpDate?. Drük-

ken Sie

, um zu kalibrieren.

11. Auf dem Display erscheint

Sat X anzeigt aber kein Bild auf dem Fernseher zu sehen ist, kann dies

zwei Ursachen haben:

1. Es wurde vom Satellitenbetreiber die Transponderbelegung geändert oder

es handelt sich um den falschen Satelliten. Versuchen Sie in diesem Fall am
Receiver andere Programme einzustellen, um zu überprüfen ob der richtige
Satellit gefunden wurde. Wenn die anderen Programme an ihrem gewoh­nen Platz sind, müssen Sie das Programm, welches sich geändert hat, im
Receiver neu programmieren. Bitte beziehen Sie sich auf die Bedienungs­anleitung des Receivers.

2. Nur US: Falls auf allen Programmplätzen des Receivers kein Bild zu sehen

ist, so schalten Sie bitte den Fastscan-Modus aus. Siehe Kapitel 5.4.

Satelliten eingestellt ist, sodaß eine Überprüfung des Satelliten möglich ist.

Upd Sat nicht erscheint, wenn

sich das System im Tracking-Modus befindet! (Siehe Kapitel 3.1).

Tritt der Fall ein, daß die freie Sicht zum Satelliten beeinträchtigt wird (z.B.
durch ein vorbeifahrendes größeres Boot, Gebäude am Ufer, Brücken oder
auch Aufbauten auf dem eigenen Boot), dann erscheint

3.1 Tracking-Modus im Hafen ausschalten

Befindet sich das Boot im Hafen, kann der Tracking-Modus deaktiviert
werden. Dabei wird das Verfolgen des Satelliten (engl. tracking) ausgeschaltet
und es werden dabei die Geräusche reduziert. Gehen Sie wie folgt vor:

1. Drücken Sie

, bis die Anzeige blinkt. Sie befinden sich im Hauptmenü.

2. Um in das Setup-Menü zu gelangen, drücken Sie solange

 Bei der Tracking-Modus ausgeschaltet verfolgt die Antenne den Satelli-

ten nicht, d.h. bei Bewegungen des Bootes ist mit Bildstörungen oder gar
Bildausfall zu rechnen. Eine Neuausrichtung auf den Satelliten ist jederzeit
möglich: Drücken Sie Taste

bis Sat X blinkt (wobei X die Nummer des

4. Satelliten

4.1 Hinzufügen neuer Satelliten

Das Suchen und Abspeichern von neuen Satelliten ist nur im Hafen bei
ruhigem Wasser durchzuführen! Für jeden Satelliten muß mindestens ein
Programm im Receiver vorprogrammiert sein, damit die Satellitenposition der
Antenneneinheit anhand des Fernsehbildes kontrolliert werden kann! Stellen
Sie sicher, daß am Receiver der vorprogrammierte Sender für den gesuchten
Satelliten eingeschaltet ist, da das System bei jedem empfangbaren Satelliten
stoppt und so der Satellit anhand des Fernsehbildes identifiziert werden kann.

Gehen Sie wie folgt vor:

1. Um in das Setup-Menü zu gelangen, drücken Sie solange

, bis Setup

blinkend erscheint, dann drücken Sie

, und geben das Passwort ein

3. Es erscheint ScnBand? für 2 Sekunden auf dem Display. Anschließend
können Sie mit der Taste

zwischen Band 1 bis Band 4 das gewünschte
Band auswählen, mit dem der Satellit gesucht werden soll. Entnehmen Sie
die Bandnummern aus der folgenden Tabelle

Satelliten gewährleistet ist, ob der am Receiver eingestellte Kanal korrekt
ist (evtl. ein anderes Programm wählen) und ob der gesuchte Satellit in
diesem Gebiet empfangbar ist! Wenn trotzdem kein Erfolg erzielt wurde,
dann sollte der Suchlauf auf den anderen Bändern wiederholt werden
(Siehe Punkt 3).

 Bevor Sie den Suchlauf neu starten, prüfen Sie, ob die Sicht durch Aufbau-

ten auf dem Boot verdeckt ist!

9. Wurde ein Satellit gefunden, stoppt der Suchlauf und es erscheint

Sat ok? blinkend auf dem Display. Kontrollieren Sie das Fernsehbild!

Sollte der eingestellte Sender nicht empfangen werden (z.B. kein Bild, oder
der falsche Sender), setzen Sie den Suchlauf mit

fort. Wiederholen sie
diesen Ablauf, bis der Sender, der im Receiver eingesellt wurde, zu sehen
ist. Drücken Sie

.

10. Es erscheint

Save as? kurzzeitig auf dem Display.

11. Anschließend erscheint die Auswahlliste der möglichen Speicherpositio­nen. Use the

key to toggle between Sat 1 and Sat 4, confirm with .

Beachten

Sie dabei, daß nur freie Speicherplätze angezeigt werden! Jeder
Receiver, der DiSEqC™-fähig ist, ordnet die Satellitenpositionen einem der
DiSEqC™- Positionsbefehle 1-4 zu. Deshalb müssen Sie sicherstellen, daß
alle Satelliten sowohl im DiSEqC™- Menü des Receivers als auch in der
Antenneneinheit unter der selben Nummer abgespeichert wurden! Dadurch
kann die

Auto Sat- Funktion (Siehe Kapitel 4.4.2) genutzt werden.

 Während die Daten eingelesen werden, muß das Boot ruhig liegen, eine

dauerhaft freie Sicht zum Satelliten gewährleistet sein, und die Antennen­einheit darf nicht abgeschaltet werden!

14. Anschließend erscheint kurz

complete auf dem Display und das System

springt automatisch in den Fernsehmodus für den neu gespeicherten Satel­liten (es wird

Sat X angezeigt, wobei X die Speicherposition ist). Jetzt

kann das Boot bewegt und der Empfang getestet werden! Für den Fall, daß
ein Fehler vorliegt wird

Err Save angezeigt und der Speichervorgang ist

zu wiederholen.

 Beachten Sie, daß für jeden neuen Satelliten der Suchvorgang extra ausge-

führt werden muß! Es können insgesamt vier Satelliten (bei TV46/60) bzw.
zwei Satelliten (bei der TV45) gespeichert werden.

4.2 Aktualisieren der Satellitendaten

Beispiel

: Der Satellit Astra wurde in deutschen Gewässern gespeichert. Jetzt
befindet sich das Boot in skandinavischen Gewässern. Demzufolge verschieben
sich die Winkel des Satelliten und es dauert länger, ihn zu finden. Um die Suche
beim nächsten Mal zu verkürzen, können die neuen Winkel gespeichert werden:

1. Um in das Setup-Menü zu gelangen, drücken Sie solange , bis Setup

blinkend erscheint, dann drücken Sie

Bei erneutem Einschalten der Antenne sind die Winkel und die Frequenzdaten
des Satelliten für das aktuelle Gebiet gespeichert. Dieser Vorgang kann in jedem
anderen Gebiet (bei einer Entfernung von 200-300 km) wiederholt werden, da
sich bei einem Standortwechsel des Bootes die Winkel des Satelliten verschieben.

4.3 Löschen von gespeicherten Daten

Um gespeicherte Satellitenpositionen zu löschen, müssen folgende Schritte
durchgeführt werden:

4.4 Auswahl gespeicherter Satelliten

Das Satellitenempfangssystem kann zum Einen über das Bedienteil und zum
Anderen über den Receiver (automatisch) zwischen den zuvor eingespeicher­ten Satellitenpositionen (Siehe Kapitel 3) umschalten.

4.4.1 Manuelle Satellitenwahl

Für eine manuelle Satellitenwahl sind folgende Schritte durchzuführen:

1. Drücken Sie

4.4.2 Automatische Satellitenwahl

Die Voraussetzung für eine Automatische Satellitenwahl ist, daß der ver­wendete Receiver DiSEqC™ - fähig ist. Des weiteren ist es wichtig, daß die
jeweiligen Satelliten sowohl im DiSEqC™ - Menü des Receivers als auch in
der Antenneneinheit unter der selben Nummer abgespeichert wurden.

Beispiel:

Auf dem Receiver wurde der Satellit Astra unter der DiSEqC™­Position 2 abgespeichert. Demzufolge muß dieser Satellit in der Antennenein­heit unter

Sat 2 abgespeichert sein.

Falls ein ausgewählter Satellit in der Antenneneinheit nicht gespeichert
ist, erscheint

No Data auf dem Display. In diesem Fall überprüfen Sie die Receivereinstel-

lung bzw. speichern Sie diesen Satelliten nachträglich in der Antenneneinheit
ab. Dazu muß der Suchlauf erneut gestartet werden (Siehe Kapitel 3)!

Sie können jederzeit mit der Taste

5. Verschiedenes

5.1 Kompasskalibrierung

Die Kalibrierung des Kompasses ist nur im Hafen bei ruhigem Wasser durch­zuführen! Weiterhin muß die Kalibrierung immer bei Änderungen des Monta­geuntergrundes der Antenneinheit bzw. bei Änderungen an den Aufbauten in
unmittelbarer Nähe der Antenneneinheit durchgeführt werden!

 Sollte ein Enfernen dieser Objekte nicht möglich sein, so ist der Betrieb der

Antenne nur eingeschränkt möglich (Die Zeit zum Wiederauffinden eines
gespeicherten Satelliten verlängert sich erheblich). Die Nachführeigen­schaften werden hiervon jedoch nicht beeinträchtigt!

5. Auf dem Display wird

5.3 Sonderfunktionen im Standby-Modus

Beachten

Sie, daß die aktuellen Daten des Betriebsstundenzählers sowie der
Seriennummer und der Softwareversionen der Antenne nur während der Initia­lisierungsphase der Antenneneinheit in das Bedienteil übertragen werden!

1. Schalten Sie die Bedieneinheit ein. Auf dem Display erscheint Init. Damit

wird die Initialisierungsphase gestartet. Warten Sie bis die Initialisierung
beendet ist und drücken Sie

um das Bedienteil in den Standby-Mode zu

schalten.

2. Um die Sonderfunktionen zu erreichen, drücken und halten Sie die

5.4 Fastscan-Modus (nur USA)

Die Antenne arbeitet schneller, wenn der Fastscan-Modus aktiviert ist.
Unter Umständen kann es jedoch sein, daß die Antenne auf einem Satelliten
ausgerichtet ist, aber kein Bild zu sehen ist. Dann kann der Fastscan-Modus
abgeschaltet werden, um den richtigen Satelliten zu erreichen.

6. Installation

6.1 Lieferumfang

Das Satellitenempfangssystem SIMRAD Marine TV umfaßt die Antenne, das
Bedienteil, die Kabel und das Installationsmaterial.

Systemkomponenten: • Antenneneinheit (mit Seriennummer)

• Bedieneinheit

• Vier Montageschrauben M8

 Bitte kontrollieren Sie alle Komponenten auf Vollständigkeit. Vergewissern

Sie sich, daß keine Transportschäden vorliegen, bevor Sie mit der Installa­tion beginnen.

6.2 Die Installation im Überblick

Der Aufbau des Satellitenempfangssystems ist in folgender Reihenfolge
durchzuführen:

• Standort aussuchen

• Montageuntergrund auf Stabilität prüfen

• Kabelwege prüfen

• Lage des Stromverteilers

• Löcher bohren und Kabel verlegen

• Montage der Antenneneinheit

• Wasserdichtes Verschließen aller Montageöffnungen

• Kabel anschließen

Zur Installation des Satellitenempfangssystems werden mindestens folgende
Werkzeuge benötigt:

• Bohrmaschine

• Bohrer mit ø 4mm und ø 8,5mm – 9mm

• Innensechskant Schlüsselgröße 6

 Planen Sie die Installation zuerst!

6.3 Wahl des Standortes

Die folgende Illustration zeigt, wie wichtig ein geeigneter Standort für die
Antenneneinheit ist.

Bitte beachten Sie, daß dabei Kriterien wie eine freie Rundumsicht von der
Antenneneinheit zum Satelliten und ein stabiler Untergrund berücksichtigt
wurden. Des weiteren sollten sich Störquellen wie Radaranlagen oder andere
Antennen (z. B. Mobilfunkantennen) nicht in unmittelbarer Nähe der Anten­neneinheit befinden. Es ist auch zu empfehlen, daß trotz versiegeltem Radom
direkte Wellen- und Schlagwassereinwirkungen vermieden werden!

Die Antenneneinheit muß so installiert werden, daß keine Aufbauten auf dem
Boot die Sicht zum Satelliten versperren! Bitte beachten Sie, daß der Elevati­onswinkel vom geographischen Standort des Bootes sowie von der Satelliten­wahl abhängig ist!

Weiterhin ist darauf zu achten, daß Störfelder wie Radaranlagen und andere
Antennen (im Besonderen Mobilfunkantennen) zu einer Verminderung der Bild­qualität führen können. Hierbei ist ein Mindestabstand von 2 - 3 m einzuhalten!



Bitte achten Sie auch auf die Beschaffenheit des Montageuntergrundes sowie
auf die Längen der verschiedenen Kabel, bevor Sie mit der Installation fort­fahren. Lesen Sie dazu die Kapitel 13.4 / 13.5 und 13.6!

6.4 Montageuntergrund

Ein waagerechter und stabiler Untergrund ist sehr wichtig. Stellen Sie sicher,
daß dieser Untergrund keine Unebenheiten aufweist!

Weiterhin ist zu beachten, daß die Antenneneinheit 18 kg wiegt. Deshalb
sollte ein sicherer Halt des Untergrundes bei entsprechend rauhem Seegang
unbedingt gewährleistet sein!

6.5 Planung der Kabelwege

Achten Sie weiterhin auf die Möglichkeit der Durchbrüche an den Wänden.
Vor der Installation ist zu prüfen, welche Wände dafür geeignet sind! Ver­suchen Sie bei der Verlegung der Kabel bereits vorhandene Durchbrüche zu
nutzen, um den Aufwand der Versiegelung so gering wie möglich zu halten!

 Es sollten alle Löcher versiegelt werden, um das Eindringen von Wasser zu

vermeiden!

Das Bedienteil sollte so nah wie möglich am Receiver montiert werden. Die
maximale Länge des Kabels ist sollte 3 m nicht überschreiten.
Siehe Anhang E für Angaben zu den Kabeltypen.

6.6 Stromversorgung

Die Antenneneinheit kann an jedes Bordnetz mit 12/24/32 V ohne Konver­ter angeschlossen werden. Der Anschluß muß mit mind. 5 A und max. 7,5 A
abgesichert sein! (Siehe auch “G Technische Spezifikationen” im Anhang)

 Um Kurzschlüsse zu vermeiden muß der Stromverteiler bei allen Arbeiten

am Bordnetz spannungslos sein.

Sollte der Minuspol der Betriebsspannung der Antenneneinheit nicht mit der
Bootsmasse verbunden sein, so ist ein Potentialausgleich von der Bootsmasse
zum Erdungspunkt der Antenneneinheit zu schaffen.

6.7 Bohrungen

Für das Bohren der Löcher zur Montage der Antenneneinheit wird ein Bohrer
mit einem Durchmesser von ø 8,5–9 mm benötigt. Es müssen 4 Löcher
gebohrt werden für Schrauben mit der Größe M8. Beachten Sie, daß zum
Befestigen der Antenneneinheit nur die mitgelieferten Montageschrauben zu
verwenden sind. Bevor Sie mit dem Bohren anfangen, ist es empfehlenswert,
mit einem kleineren Bohrer (ø 3,5-4 mm) vorzubohren, um Beschädigungen

Dieses Loch ist nur dann zu bohren, wenn das Kabel durch den Montageun­tergrund hindurch geführt werden soll. Das Kabel kann auch seitlich zwischen
Montageuntergrund und Radomboden durch den Kabelkanal geführt werden,
um eine weitere Bohrung zu vermeiden.

 Für den Fall, daß die Anlage auf Kabinendächer etc. (nicht auf Geräte-

träger oder separate Montageplatten) montiert wird, verschließen Sie alle
Bohrungen mit wasserfestem Dichtungsmittel, um das Eindringen von
Wasser zu vermeiden!

6.8 Montage der Antenneneinheit

Es ist darauf zu achten, daß der Montageuntergrund fest und stabil ist. Mon­tieren Sie die Antenneneinheit so, daß die Kabellängen ausreichend sind, die
Antenneneinheit eine freie Rundumsicht zum Satelliten hat, und sich keine
Störfelder (im Besonderen Mobilfunkantennen) in unmittelbarer Nähe befinden.
Setzen Sie die Antenneneinheit auf die vorgebohrten Löcher und befestigen Sie
diese mit den Montageschrauben und Unterlegscheiben. Die Schrauben sind von
unten durch den Montageuntergrund nach oben in das Radom einzuschrauben.

 Versiegeln Sie alle Bohröffnungen mit wasserdichtem Material, um das

Eindringen von Wasser zu vermeiden!

6.9 System Kabelverbindungen

 Um Kurzschlüsse zu vermeiden, muß der Stromkreis, an dem gearbeitet

wird, abgeschaltet sein.

• Das Antennenkabel muß an die Bedieneinheit und an die Antenneneinheit
angeschlossen werden.

• Das Stromversorgungskabel an den Stromverteiler und die Antenneneinheit.

• Das Receiverkabel an die Bedieneinheit und den Receiver.

 Beziehen Sie sich dabei auf die Systemüberblick und Skizzen, Anhang E
und letzte Seiten

Führen Sie die Kabel durch die Bohröffnungen hindurch und versiegeln Sie
diese mit wasserfestem Dichtungsmittel. Weiterhin ist darauf zu achten, daß
alle Kabel, welche von außen nach innen führen, mit einem Abtropfbogen zu
verlegen sind, um das Eindringen von Wasser zu verhindern:

Achten Sie auch darauf, daß die Geräte so gestellt sind, daß die Kabellängen
ausreichen. Demzufolge sollte die Bedieneinheit in der Nähe des Receivers

stehen. Platzieren Sie die Bedieneinheit so, daß die Anzeige gut lesbar ist
und der Taster gut erreichbar ist. Weiterhin muß hinter der Bedieneinheit
genug Raum für die Kabel vorhanden sein! Die Antenneneinheit ist durch die
Bedieneinheit vom Bordnetz getrennt. Folglich bezieht die Antenneneinheit
nur dann Strom, wenn die Bedieneinheit eingeschaltet ist!

A Wartung

Das Satellitenempfangssystem SIMRAD Marine TV ist einfach in seiner
Wartung. Die folgenden Anweisungen sind ausreichend, um eine optimale
Leistung der Antenneneinheit aufrechtzuerhalten:

• Waschen Sie monatlich das Radom mit frischem Wasser, um Salzablage­rungen zu entfernen. Ein mildes Reinigungsmittel kann verwendet werden,
um hartnäckigen Schmutz zu entfernen.

• Entfernen Sie nicht das Radom!

•

Spritzen Sie das Radom nicht mit Hochdruckwasser aus einem Schlauch ab!

• Überprüfen Sie alle Kabelverbindungen und achten Sie auf Anzeichen von
Korrosion. Säubern Sie die Kabel!

 Das Radom wurde mit einer Schutzschicht von UV- und seeklimabestän-

digem Lack versehen. Tragen Sie keine zusätzlichen Farben, Wachse,
Konservierungsmittel, Lösungsmittel, Chemikalien oder Aufkleber auf. Bei
jeder Art von Beschichtung wird die Gewährleistung ungültig! Falls verse­hentlich Lösungsmittel auf das Radom gelangen, entfernen Sie dieses sofort
mit Wasser und, bei Bedarf, mit einem milden Reinigungsmittel!

Besondere Hinweise für die Installation von US-Antennen

Der Receiver sollte ein WideBand-Receiver (Breitband-Receiver) sein.
Um alle Programme empfangen zu können, muß dieser auf “WideBand”
gestellt sein.

Wenn der Receiver weniger als 300 mA liefern kann, ist dieser nicht ohne
weiteres geeignet, das System zu betreiben. Daher ist im Lieferumfang der
US-Antennen eine Spannungseinspeiseweiche (DC-Inserter) enthalten, um
das System mittels des ebenfalls mitgelieferten Netzteils zu versorgen. Die
Einspeiseweiche ist in das Koaxialkabel einzufügen. Stellen Sie sicher, daß
die Verkabelung exakt den Schaltbildern und Illustrationen entspricht. Das
Netzteil arbeitet nur an 110V-Netzen.

Ein Receiver hat uneingeschränkten Zugriff auf alle Transponder in allen vier

1. El sistema digital de seguimiento de satélites

El sistema de seguimiento de satélites SIMRAD Marine TV, fabricado con la
tecnología más avanzada, le permite obtener una excelente recepción de tele­visión dondequiera que se encuentre. Gracias a un seguimiento ilimitado, de
360°, a alta velocidad, puede estar seguro que podrá acceder en todo momento
a sus canales preferidos incluso si navega en alta mar.

El sistema de seguimiento de satélites está protegido por una cúpula a prueba
de los rayos UV y del clima marítimo, fácil de manejar y de mantener. Los
sensores de seguimiento de alta velocidad, desarrollados para este sistema,
y para los que se han utilizado componentes de alta tecnología para proce­sar señales electrónicas, hacen que la precisión del sistema de seguimiento
de satélites sea la más alta y dinámica. Con la ayuda de esta tecnología,
SIMRAD Marine TV garantiza un sistema dinámico, de altas prestaciones y
con una velocidad de seguimiento sin igual hasta la fecha.

SIMRAD Marine TV se puede utilizar en embarcaciones de cualquier tamaño
e incluso en barcos pequeños de menos de 11m (36 pies).

El sistema de seguimiento automático de satélites incluye una antena para­bólica con receptor de 45 cm (18 “) ó 60 cm (23,6 “) de diámetro capaz de
realizar un seguimiento tanto horizontal como vertical gracias a su servoac­cionador directo (excepto en el modelo TV45) que permite seleccionar un
número increíble de canales, igual que en casa.

Una vez localizado el satélite, el sistema de seguimiento permanece continua­mente conectado al satélite correcto por muy picado que esté el mar.

Tenga en cuenta que la recepción de programas en distintas regiones depende de las huellas
de los satélites. Recuerde también que la recepción de TV puede verse afectada por la lluvia,
nieve, nubes espesas y movimientos violentos en zonas en las que las señales sean débiles.

• Todas las antenas, excepto la TV46Twin, necesitarán un kit Multi-Usuario
para conectar más de un receptor. La antena TV46 Twin sólo necesitará el
kit si se quieren conectar más de dos receptores.

• En las antenas simples con más de un usario (receptor), todos los recepto­res estarán en la misma banda que el principal, así si el receptor principal
cambia la banda, el resto de receptores conectados cambiarán a esta nueva
banda.

• En las antenas multi, todos los usuarios (receptores) pueden cambiar entre
las bandas independientemente.

1.2 Recomendaciones de seguridad

 Compruebe la tensión máxima de alimentación de la antena. Ésta

debe estar entre 11,5 y 36 voltios de CC y la protección contra sobre­cargas debe permitir entre 5 amperios mín. y 7,5 amperios máx.

 La distancia de montaje entre la antena y otras fuentes de radiación

ej. equipo de radar u otras antenas (antenas para comunicaciones
móviles) debe ser superior a 2 m (8 pies).

 El funcionamiento simultáneo de la antena de radar y la antena de

televisión puede dañar esta última si no está instalada directamente
sobre la antena de radar.

 La unidad de control no debe utilizarse en el exterior.

 Durante tormentas, los cables de conexión se han de desconectar.

 Si el lado negativo de la tensión de alimentación de la antena no tiene

conexión a la toma de tierra de la embarcación, el punto de puesta a
tierra de la antena debe estar conectado directamente con la toma de
tierra de la embarcación.

 Una vez realizada la instalación se debe comprobar el funciona-

miento del resto de los sistemas de radio (como GPS, VHF, Radar,
FM, AM ...) con la antena activada.

 La antena no debe probarse ni funcionar sin la cúpula debidamente

montada. La refl exión del sol en el disco puede dañar los componen­tes electrónicos.

 No tocar la junta rotativa.

 No intentar abrir la parte electrónica sellada, ya que al hacerlo se

anulará la garantía.

1.4 Funciones del teclado

El funcionamiento del sistema Simrad Marine TV se controla desde la
unidad de control. Conviene familiarizarse con las funciones de las teclas y
memorizar su uso en la estructura de menús:

Tecla de encendido

Pulsar una vez para encender la unidad o para pasar al modo Stanby
después de la inicialización.

Tecla de avance

Al pulsarla se pasa por todos los menús disponibles, paso a paso.

Tecla de selección

Al pulsarla se seleccionará/confirmará la opción de la pantalla.

¡Nota! Desde el modo Stanby: Mantener pulsada la tecla de Selección mien-

tras usa la tecla de Avance para pasar por los datos disponibles: nº
serie, contador del tiempo de funcionamiento, y versiones de soft­ware. Ver sección 5.3.

El tiempo entre cada pulsación no debe se mayor de dos segundos o la solici­tud de la contraseña será anulada. Es este caso, en la pantalla volverá a parpa­dear

Setup y tendrá que comenzar desde el punto 1.

Si la contraseña se introduce correctamente, entrará en el modo de

2. Dispositivos de control

2.1 Unidad de control

2.2 Preparación del receptor

El SIMRAD Marine TV no necesita ningún receptor especial. El sistema de
seguimiento de satélites puede conectarse a cualquier receptor de venta en el
mercado para recepción digital y analógica. Sólo hay que ajustar el tipo de
LNB del menú Setup del receptor en "Universal" (LOF 9,75/10,6 GHz). Si se
desean posiciones de varios satélites, hay que activar la función DiSEqC™
para un cambio automático de satélite.

¡Para programar el receptor, consulte el manual de usuario correspondiente!

 Para cada satélite, se tiene que preprogramar por lo menos un programa en

el receptor para controlar la posición del satélite de la antena a través de la
calidad de la imagen de TV. ¡También es posible preprogramar el receptor
utilizando un sistema de satélite ya instalado!

 Si el receptor soporta la función, ajuste el receptor de modo que se inte-

rrumpa la alimentación de energía del LNB cuando está en el modo Stan­dby. Esto significa que la unidad de control y la antena no reciben energía.
Esta función permite activar y desactivar la antena con el mando a distan­cia del receptor, lo cual reduce el consumo de electricidad

 En caso de que haya varios receptores conectados al mismo tiempo a la

antena (ej. un receptor digital con un receptor analógico en bucle), los dos
receptores deben tener la misma configuración DiSEqC™. Bien los dos
receptores con DiSEqC™ activado, bien los dos receptores con DiSEqC™
desactivado.

2.3 Encendido / Apagado / Stanby

La unidad de antena es controlada por la unidad de control, que se enciende
pulsando la tecla

. Para entrar en el modo Stanby, pulsar la tecla desde

cualquier menú después de completar la inicialización.

 Si la unidad de control está en el modo Standby o apagada, la antena no

recibe energía.

2.4 Ajuste de los parámetros de configuración

Los cambios sólo se pueden realizar en el menú Setup. El menú principal sola­mente permite seleccionar las funciones que estén parpadeando.

1. Encienda la unidad de control. En pantalla se verá

Init parpadeando, indi-

cando que la inicialización está en progreso.

2. Una vez finalizada l inicialización, se encuentra en el menú principal con
la pantalla

Setup parpadeando. Para acceder al menú de configuración

requiere contraseña - ver sección 1.5.

3. Si la contraseña introducida es correcta, se encuentra en el menú Setup.
En la pantalla se verá

4. El Seguimiento por defecto está activado (ON). Cambiar entre On y Off
con la tecla

. Con Off, el seguimiento está desactivado (ver sección 3.1).

Con On, está activado y el satélite puede ser seguido. Pulsar

5. En la pantalla se verá

para seleccionar o pulse para continuar desde punto 7.

6. Fastscan por defecto está en On. Cambiar entre On y Off con la tecla
(ver sección 5.4). Con On, Fatscan está activado y la búsqueda del satélite
trabaja más rápidamente (sólo US). Pulsar

para seleccionar.

7. En la pantalla se verá

8. La pantalla presentará el valor estándar

lin 0 que es válido en Europa.

Pulsando la tecla

puede cambiar los parámetros del LNB. Pulsar para

seleccionar. La pantalla volverá a:

 El valor estándar lin 0 es el único soportada por un sistema estándar. La

recepción de satélites con posición oblicua rotada necesitarán un montaje
opcional del LNB con oblicuidad variable (ver Apédie D). Para la recep­ción de satélites con polaridad circular se requerirá un LNB del tipo circu­lar.

9. Pulse

hasta que aparezca Comp Cal. Pulse para seleccionar.

 ¡La calibración del compás se debe realizar en puerto y con aguas tranqui-

las! ¡Si se cambia la superficie de montaje de la antena, o si se modifican
las superestructuras cercanas a la antena, es preciso volver a realizar la
calibración! Ver también sección 5.1.

10. En la pantalla alternan:

Compass y UpDate?. Pulse para calibrar.

11. En la pantalla aparecen alternativamente:

Compass y calibrat, y

continuación

checking hasta que aparece por un instante el mensaje

complete, y de nuevo Comp Cal, lo que indica que se ha completado la

calibración del compás .

12. Pulse

para ir a quit, y pulse para confirmar.

El sistema ya ha quedado ajustado a las condiciones circundantes y se pueden
buscar y guardar más satélites.

3. Funcionamiento del TV

 ¡Si no hay ningún satélite almacenado, la pantalla empezará a parpadear

Setup. Volverá a aparecer el menú principal a través del cual puede añadir

satélites, ver sección 4.1.

Si la búsqueda de un satélite nuevo dura más de 1 minuto a pesar de una
visión despejada al satélite, o si después de haber encontrado varias veces
el satélite correcto en la pantalla aparecen alternativamente

número del satélite, entonces se tiene que actualizar la base de datos de satéli­tes, ver sección 4.2.

Si no hay ninguna imagen en la TV después de haber comprobado el satélite y
de estar bien,hay dos posibilidades:

1.

El proveedor del servicio por satélite ha cambiado los transpondedores o el
satélite no es el correcto. Para comprobar que se ha encontrado el satélite
correcto, intente cambiar entre otros programas en el receptor. Si el resto de
programas están en sus posiciones normales, necesita reprogramar su recep­tor para el programa que ha cambiado. Refiérase al manual del receptor.

2. Sólo US: Si no puede recibir ningún satélite, intentelo activando la función

Fastscan, ver sección 5.4.

Una vez hechos los cambios, volver a

Sat

X y pulse para iniciar una búsqueda

nueva.

Si la búsqueda de un satélite nuevo tarda más de 4 minutos y después de algún
tiempo en pantalla

 La opción de menú

Upd Sat no se muestra cuando la función segui-

miento está desactivada (ver sección 3.1).

Si la antena pierde la señal del satélite (porque pasa un barco, hay edifi cios en
la orilla, puentes o superestructuras en la propia embarcación), en la pantalla
pueden verse

Sat X (es la posición de almacenamiento del satélite actual) y

no Sig durante el tiempo que no sea posible la recepción. Si se gira el barco,

el modo de búsqueda comienza automáticamente. En la pantalla pueden verse

alternativamente. En caso de que haya supreestructuras

que obstruyan la visión al satélite, gire el barco si quiere encontrar el satélite.

 Si quiere seleccionar un determinado satélite, vea la sección 4.4.

3.1 Detener la función de Seguimiento en puertos

Si la embarcación se encuentra en un puerto, se puede desactivar el modo
Tracking para detener el seguimiento (reducción del ruido). Haga lo siguiente:

1. Pulse

hasta que la pantalla empiece a parpadear. Se encuentra en el

menú principal.

2. Para abrir el menú Setup, pulse

 Si el modo Tracking está desactivado, la antena no realizará un segui-

miento del satélite. Esto signifi ca que puede deteriorarse alguna vez la
imagen del TV e incluso desaparecer. Siempre se puede realizar una reali­neación con el satélite: Pulse

hasta que aparezca Sat X parpadeando en

la pantalla y pulse

para confirmar.

4. Satélites

4.1 Adición de satélites nuevos

¡La búsqueda y almacenamiento en memoria de satélites nuevos se debe hacer
en puerto y con aguas tranquilas! Para cada satélite, se tiene que preprogramar
por lo menos un programa en el receptor para controlar la posición del satélite
de la antena a través de la calidad de la imagen de TV. Asegúrese de que la
estación de TV preprogramada para el satélite está activada en el receptor, ya
que el sistema se detiene para cada satélite que se pueda recibir. El satélite se
puede identifi car por la calidad de la imagen. Haga lo siguiente:

New Sat sólo aparece si hay posiciones libres para almacenamiento de

más satélites. Si están ocupadas todas, habrá que borrar primero las posi­ciones que no sean necesarias (Ver sección 4.3).

3. En la pantalla aparece

ScnBand? durante 2 segundos. A continuación,

puede moverse con la tecla

para seleccionar la banda en la que buscar el

satélite. Consulte la tabla siguiente:

¡Antes de volver a iniciar el modo de búsqueda (consulte el punto 1), com­pruebe si hay una visión despejada al satélite, si el programa seleccionado
en el receptor es correcto (posiblemente tenga que cambiar de programa) y
si el satélite en cuestión se puede recibir en esta zona!

Si no se encuentra ningún satélite, repita la búsqueda en otra banda (con-

sulte el punto 3).

 Antes de volver a iniciar el modo de búsqueda, asegúrese de que ninguna

superestructura pueda obstruir la visión al satélite.

9. El modo de búsqueda se detiene una vez encontrado un satélite. En la pan­talla aparece

Sat ok? parpadeando. ¡Compruebe la calidad de la imagen!

En caso de que no se reciba ninguna imagen o de que el programa de TV
no sea el correcto, vuelva a iniciar el modo de búsqueda pulsando

hasta

encontrar el programa de TV correcto. Pulse

para confirmar.

10. En la pantalla aparece

Save as? durante un instante.

11. En la lista de selección aparecen entonces las distintas posiciones de alma­cenamiento. Se puede pasar de

Sat 1 a Sat 4 con la tecla y confi rmar

pulsando

.
¡Aviso! Acuérdese de que sólo se muestran las posiciones libres de alma­cenamiento. Todo receptor que soporte la función DiSEqC™, asigna las
posiciones de los satélites a una de las posiciones 1 - 4 del DiSEqC™. Por
tanto, debe asegurarse de que todos los satélites del menú DiSEqC™ del
receptor y de la antena se almacenen con el mismo número. Esto permite
utilizar la función

Auto Sat (ver sección 4.4.2).

 Ejemplo:

El satélite Astra está almacenado en la posición 2 del DiSEqC™
del receptor, lo que signifi ca que este satélite debe almacenarse en la antena
como

Sat 2 ! Los receptores que no soportan la función DiSEqC™ per-

miten números en cualquier orden. Pulse

.

12. En la pantalla se ven alternativamente Sat X y save? parpadeando,

siendo X la posición de almacenamiento elegida anteriormente. Confirmar
con

.

Si desea abandonar la función, pulse

, para detener el proceso de almace-

namiento. En la pantalla aparece entonces

cancel seguido de Sat ok?.

Puede seguir buscando o almacenar el satélite que acaba de recibir en otra
posición de almacenamiento. (Ver punto 4).

13. Si elige ‘confirmar’ en el punto 12, en la pantalla parpadea

saving..

durante 1 minuto aproximadamente. Los datos del satélite quedan almace­nados automáticamente. En la pantalla se verá:

checking.

 Mientras se almacenan los datos, la embarcación no ha de moverse, debe

asegurarse de que haya en todo momento una visión despejada al satélite y
la antena no se debe apagar.

14. Cuando el dato es memorizado, la pantalla muestra

complete durante un

momento antes de que el sistema vuelva automáticamente al modo TV del
satélite que se acaba de almacenar (en la pantalla aparece

Sat X, siendo

X la posición de almacenamiento). Ya se puede mover la embarcación y
comprobar la recepción. Si ocurre un fallo y el dato no es memorizado
correctamente, en la pantalla aparecerá

Err Save y habrá que volver a

realizar la calibración.

 Debe repetir el modo de búsqueda para cada satélite nuevo! Puede alma-

cenar hasta cuatro satélites (modelos TV46/60) o dos satélites (modelos
TV45).

4.2 Actualización de la base de datos de los satélites

Ejemplo: El satélite Astra se ha almacenado en aguas alemanas. La embar­cación se encuentra ahora en aguas escandinavas por lo que los ángulos del
satélite se han movido y el sistema tarda más en encontrar el satélite. Para que
la duración de la búsqueda sea menor la próxima vez, se pueden almacenar los
nuevos datos de los ángulos:

6. Después de la calibración correcta, en la pantalla aparecerá brevemente

complete y tras esto, el sistema vuelve automáticamente al modo TV. Si

la actualización no concluyó con éxito, en la pantalla aparece

Err Save

y el sistema volverá al menú

Upd Sat. En este caso, repita la calibración.

La próxima vez que se enciende la antena, los ángulos del satélite quedan
almacenados para la zona actual. Este procedimiento se puede repetir en todas
las regiones (a una distancia de 124-186 mi. / 200-300 km) ya que los ángulos

del satélite se mueven cada vez que la embarcación cambia de posición.

4.3 Borrado de los datos almacenados

Para borrar las posiciones de los satélites almacenadas siga los pasos siguientes:
