SIMRAD SH90
Simrad high denition sonars detect weak and scattered targets
under difcult conditions
The catching machine
The Simrad SH90 is a perfect
catching machine. It is ideal for
mackerel, tuna, and all sh located
close to the bottom. With the Simrad
SH90, you can combine horizontal
and vertical beams, and you can view
the schools of sh with both a “bird’s
eye” and as a “slice” at the same
time. This provides vital school data
without passing over the target.
Full beam stabilization maintains
a clear picture of the target even in
rough seas.
The Simrad SH90, as with all
Simrad sonars, provides a dual mode
facility offering two sonars in one.
Individual tilt angle, range, gain and
lter settings can be made on each of
the two sonar presentations.

To create the Simrad SH90
sonar, the designers started from
scratch with a brand new design.
A new transducer was developed,
the transceiver technology has been
greatly improved, and the computing
power has been enhanced using a new
processor unit. The menu system is
however identical to the former SH80
and the highly appraised SX90. This
offers instant recognition, and makes
the sonar easy to use and understand.
• New and improved FM
transmission
• Ideal for detection of mackerel,
tuna and all sh close to bottom.
• Detects weak and scattered
targets.
• Keep full control during
catching.
• Full 360° stabilization both in
transmission and reception.
• 90° vertical presentation
• High resolution in all ranges.
The Simrad SH90 has 0.35m
(14 inches) horizontal resolution
on all ranges. This gives good
separation of targets and is a
valuable feature for inspecting
schools, separating sh close to
bottom etc.
• The receiver’s wide dynamic
range will easily identify schools
with different densities, and
will also separate hard from soft
bottom.
• The sonar beam has a 7,5°
opening angle. This allows you
to detect sh close to the sea
surface or bottom.
• A new 180° vertical view,
which is tiltable down to 90°, is
specially designed for pelagic
trawlers.
• A new interface for a Kongsberg
MRU sensor has been
implemented. This option will
ensure extreme accurate beam
stabilization, and will also
improve detection of sh close
to the bottom.
