PIHBU(HYDROPHONEBOOSTERUNIT)

ThePIHBU(HydrophoneBoosterUnit)isasmallandcompact unitprovidingamplicationfortheweaksignalsfromthePI hydrophone.ItisconnectedbetweenthehydrophoneandthePI cabinet.ThePIHBUispoweredbyaseparatepowersupply .
Prerequisitesforuse
InordertousethePIHBUyourPIreceivermustoperatewith thefollowingsoftwareversion:
PI32:Notapplicable
PI44:DSP(DigitalSignalProcessor)version1.11(orlater) withMMIversion0.50(orlater).
PI54:DSP(DigitalSignalProcessor)version1.11(orlater) withMMIversion0.50(orlater).
WhyusethePIHBU
OnthePI44andPI54systems,softwarerelease1.08providedan increasedrangecapability.ByusingthePIHBU(Hydrophone BoosterUnit)aswellthesystemswillofferadditionalrange, andtheywillbemoretolerantfornoise.OnPI32systems,the PIHBU(HydrophoneBoosterUnit)willalsoprovideincreased rangecapability.

ForthemajorityofPIusersexperiencingadequateperformance, andwithnoneedtoincreasetherangecapability,thePIHBU (HydrophoneBoosterUnit)willnotberequired.
WhentousethePIHBU
ThePIHBU(HydrophoneBoosterUnit)isrecommendedif thereceptionofthePIsystemisclutteredwithnoisefrom interference,orwithnoisefromotheracousticsystemsonthe vessel,suchassonars,echosoundersorlogs.ThePIHBU (HydrophoneBoosterUnit)mayalsoproveusefulifyou experiencenoisefromthevesselpropellers.

Installation

INSTALLATION
ObservetheproceduretoinstallthePIHBU(Hydrophone BoosterUnit).
1UnpackthePIHBU(HydrophoneBoosterUnit)unit.
2Checkthatthepackagecontainstheunitandapowersupply.
3FindasuitablelocationforthePIHBUunit.
TheunitmustbeplacedclosetothePIoperatorunit,and withinreachofapoweroutlet(115–230Vac).Observethe lengthofthehydrophonecable,whichlimitsthedistance betweentheunits.
4MountthePIHBUunit.
5PowerdownyourPIsystem.
6Disconnectthehydrophoneconnectorontherearsideofthe
PIoperatorunit,andconnectittothePIHBUunit(A).
