switch S1 to set the network address of the MKB-3. Refer to Table 3 for switch settings.
2. The MKB-3 module address is always set within network addresses 248 through 251.
3. One supervised MKB-3 must be installed
at network address 251. Other supervised MKBs may be at the other addresses.
NOTE: Switches S1-SW3 and S1-SW4 are for
future use. Switch S1-SW5 is used to select supervision.

2. After installing the printer to the plate, mount the plate to the rack using hardware supplied with the rack. Refer to the SYSTEM ASSEMBLY section below and Figures 6 (with Voice) and 7 (without Voice), for the recommended location on the rack.
3. Mount the dress plate onto the rack with the clear lens centered over the printer paper. Fasten in place using hardware supplied with the rack.
SYS-RK Installation
Figure 3
Setting S1 on the ANN-1 Board
To assemble the MBK-RK:
1. Remove the four screws from the four standoffs on the rear side of the MKB-RK plate.
2. Position the MKB-3 panel over the four standoffs on the rear side of the MBK-RK plate, being sure that the MKB-3 panel fits into the cutout on the plate.
3. Replace the four screws on the standoffs and tighten them securely.
4. Mount the MKB-RK to its recommended location on the rack. Refer to Table 1 and Figures 6 and 7 to determine the correct location for your system.
The SYS-RK has two components (See Figure 5):
1. An 83/8 X 19" plate with studs.
2. A U-shaped plate with studs. To assemble the SYS-RK:
1. Mount the 8
3
/8 X 19" plate on the rear of the rack. Refer to the SYSTEM ASSEMBLY section and Figure 6 for the recommended location on the rack.
2. Place the six holes in the U-shaped plate over the six studs in the 19" rack plate. Secure the U-shaped plate in place using the six 8-32 nuts provided.
3. Install the EL-410D over the four studs on the U-shaped plate using the four 8-32 nuts provided.
TSP-40 Installation
The TSP-RK has two components:
1. U-shaped plate with studs (See Figure 4).
2. A dress plate with a clear lens. To assemble the TSP-RK:
1. Mount the TSP-40 printer to the studs using the hardware and installation instructions supplied with the printer. In this application, use the instructions for mounting the TSP-40 in an MBR-1 backbox.

NOTE
Before installing the modules onto the rack, access to field wiring connections must be considered.
Refer to Figures 6 (with Voice) and 7 (without Voice) for the recommended placement of modules on the rack.
Observe the following conditions when mounting the modules onto the rack:
1. Modules having cable connections must be mounted close enough to each other so the cables will connect. In order to use the fixed length cables shipped with MXL/MXLV modules, place the modules on the rack in the same way that they are mounted in the MME-3 enclosure. Refer to the MXL/MXV Manual, P/N 315-092036, for mounting positions and cable connections.
2. Rear mounted modules must face the inside of the rack with the smooth side of the plate facing the back of the rack.
3. The ACM-RK must be mounted below the MKB-RK.
4. The MOM-RK must be mounted below the MMB-RK.
5. The MPS-RK must be mounted below the MOM-RK.
6. The MMB-RK must be mounted directly behind the ACM-RK.
7. The TSP-RK must be located within 24 inches of the MMB-RK.
8. The VSM-RK must be mounted directly below the ACM-RK.
Using the CABLES-RK Kit
The CABLES-RK kit (P/N 500-893044) has five cables for connecting modules. Four of the five cables replace cables that are shipped with modules. The remaining cable extends the length of the MMM-1 cable by plugging into it. Refer to Figures 2, 6, or 7, and Table 4 for specific cable use.
WIRING
All wiring must comply with national and local codes.
In compliance with UL-864, effective May 1, 1995, all power limited fire protective signaling conductors must be separated a minimum of 1/4 inch from all of the following items located within a control panel:
• electric light
• power
• Class 1 or non-power limited fire protective signaling conductors

To meet these requirements, two wire ducts are mounted along the sides of the rack assembly, as shown in Figure 8. Remove the wire duct cover, route all non-power limited wiring through the ducts, then snap the cover back in place.
Refer to the Installation and Power Limited Wiring Instructions for the MME-3 Backbox, P/N 315-
094883, for further information on power and non-power limited wiring.
NOTE: If power-limited wiring is not used within a
rack mount system, then the following guidelines do not apply. In that case, be sure to follow standard wiring practices.

WIRING ENTERING THE RACK ASSEMBLY
Non-Power Limited Wiring
Wiring to the following MXL/MXLV module terminations shown in Table 5 is considered nonpower limited. The wiring must enter and exit the rack assembly through the bottom of the rack and route in either of the two ducts. Wiring between the ducts and the module terminations must be in the shortest route and must not overlap any other wiring.

module and ASC-1/-2 first must be terminated at a PLC-4 plug-in module installed in an OMM-1 and then at the zone card. The PLC-4 must contain at least one of the following plug-on boards: a PL864-25A or PL864-70A for audio circuits, or a PL-864-25S for strobe circuits. Refer to the PLC-4 Installation Instructions, P/N 315-093312.
WIRING ENTERING THE RACK
Power Limited Wiring
Wiring to the following MXL module terminations shown in Table 6 is considered power limited and must enter the rack assembly through the bottom of the rack.
† Listed Class 2 or Power Limited Source.
SYSTEM WIRING
For systems without the voice option (MXL):
Connect the modules as shown in the individual installation instructions (Refer to Table 2) and the MXL/MXLV Manual, P/N 315-092036.
For systems with the voice option (MXLV):
Connect the modules as shown in the individual installation instructions (Refer to Table 2) and the MXL/MXLV Manual, P/N 315-092036.
For all systems:
After connecting the modules, complete the field wiring to each module following the individual installation instructions (Refer to Table 2) and the MXL/MXLV Manual, P/N 315-092036.
