MODELS MSI-51B / MSI-53B
Manual Stations
INTRODUCTION
The SIEMENS Models MSI-51B and MSI-53B
Manual Stations are addressable devices containing advanced control panel communication technology. This technology, which provides two
direction communication with the control panel,
produces an Intelligent Initiating Device.
OPERATION
This manual station housing has a pull down lever
that locks in position after releasing a spring
loaded switch (See Figure 3). To indicate the
manual station is activated, the pull down lever
remains down and locked until the station is reset.
The MSI-51B and MSI-53B are reset by opening
the hinged housing cover with an Allen key and
then closing and locking the cover.
The MSI-53B Manual Station is an addressable
station the same as the MSI-51B, but it also has a
nonaddressable 2nd Stage Key Switch.
1. Locate the opening on the MSI-51B and
MSI-53B cover that allows access to the
programming points on the MSI-51B and
MSI-53B printed circuit board. (Refer to
Figure 1.)
2. The manual stations are programmed by using

the SIEMENS Model FPI-32 Programmer/Tester.
Connect the MSI-51B and MSI-53B to the
Programmer/Tester by using the cable provided
with the Programmer/Tester.
MSI-51B and MSI-53B is not polarity
sensitive. However, connection from the
Control Panel to the MSI-51B and MSI-53B is
polarity sensitive.

3. Following the instructions given in the FPI-32
Programmer/Tester Manual (P/N 315-090077),
program the MSI-51B and MSI-53B to the desired
address.
4. Record the device address on the label located on
the MSI-51B and MSI-53B housing. (See Figure 1.)
5. Install the MSI-51B and MSI-53B (Refer to Figure 3).
6. Wire the MSI-51B and MSI-53B to the System
(Refer to Figure 2 for proper connections).
