REFERENCE RS-232C Connectivity
BACKGROUND The AQUOS BOARD™ m odels listed above do not prov ide an out of the box
RS-232C port. This bul let i n w il l explain how to utilize remote RS-23 2C control by
utilizing the built-in servic e port connector.
ACTION Users c an purchase the 3rd party adapters listed below. When connect ed t o t he
AQUOS BOARD™, these adapters will permit a standard RS-232C control cable to
be connected to the unit.
*Note, the gender changer may not be required depend ing on the cable used.
METHOD The 3.5mm RS-232C port is located on the right side of the back of the di spl ay
under a service cover. This cover is attached with a single screw and must be
removed to access the por t .

SUPPORTED All network commands are av aila bl e for use. (See Operation Manual p.55-p.62)
COMMANDS
LIMITATIONS Sharp is currently developing updated f irmware to enhance the RS-232C capability,
but currently the following li m itat ions apply:
- Baud rate Speed: Only 38,400bps is supported.
- When an RS-232C command is sent, do not use LAN control and control via a web
browser.
- When controlling via RS-232C commands, please use t he ( default) standby mode.
If the “low power mode” is used, RS-232C data may not be r eceived.
- When using RS-232C comm ands with the “A” models, commands cannot be
received for approximately 3 minutes during the power up or shut dow n sequence
whether initiated either via the IR remote, or front panel power but t on.
- If the main power on switch on the back of the unit i s cycled, you will need to clear
the receiving buffer due to erroneous data.
