Subject: ROM Update for Installation of the AR-FN2

The following copier ROM’s MUST be updated when installing an AR-FN2 Finisher onto
an AR-280/285/335 with a June ’98 production date. If the ROM’s are NOT updated during
the installation of the AR-FN2, the Finisher will NOT be recognized properly.

How to read the copy machine serial number.

1st digit is the
production year

Last digit is the
production month.

The following hardware is required before the AR-280/285/335 Flash ROM’s can be
updated.

1. Personal computer operating on Windows95.

2. SCSI host adapter supporting ASPI.

3. SCSI II cable that is 1M in length max.
In order to ensure the update can be done properly Sharp recommends that the following

SCSI adapters be used.

The update ROM’s can be obtained by downloading the ROM data files from Sharpnet ’98.
If you currently CANNOT perform this download / ROM upgrade procedure contact your
Regional Service Office for assistance.
