Electric spiral slicer
Dear Customer,
Before using the appliance, read the following instructions carefully and keep this manual for future reference. The appliance must only be used by those familiar with the instructions below.
Important safety instructions
Danger to certain categories of persons
∙ The appliance may only be used
by persons with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities, or lacking experience and knowledge, if they have been given supervision or instruction concerning the use of the appliance and fully understand all dangers and safety precautions involved.
∙ Children must not be permitted to
operate the appliance. The appliance and its power cord must be kept well away from children.
∙ Children must not be permitted to play
with the appliance.
Caution: Keep any packaging
materials well away from children – these materials are a potential source of danger, e.g. of suffocation.
Risk of electric shock
The device is powered by electricity, and so there is always a risk of electric shock. The following precautions are
therefore to be taken:
∙ Every time the appliance is used,
the main body including the power cord as well as any attachment fi tted should be checked thoroughly for any defects. Should the appliance, for instance, have been dropped onto a hard surface, or if excessive force has been used to pull the power cord, it must no longer be used: even invisible damage may have adverse effects on the operational safety of the appliance.
∙ The appliance should only be
connected to a socket installed in accordance with the regulations. Make sure that the supply voltage corresponds with the voltage marked on the rating label.
∙ Always remove the plug from the wall
socket
- before assembling or disassembling the appliance,
- after use,
- in case of any malfunction,
- when there is no supervision,
- before cleaning the appliance.
∙ When removing the plug from the wall
socket, never pull on the power cord;
always grip the plug itself. ∙ Do not touch the plug with wet hands. ∙ Do not clean the housing with liquids
or immerse it.
Danger from blades and moving parts
There is a risk of serious injury from blades and other moving parts:
∙ Take special care not to touch the

blades while cleaning or changing the blade inserts.
∙ Do not wear long chains, earrings,
scarves or shawls, clothes with long and/or wide sleeves, or long, loose hair when operating the appliance.
∙ Do not put fi ngers into the feeder
chute, and do not insert any other objects.
∙ Do not put your hands underneath
or near the output area of the spiral cutters.
∙ Wait until all parts have come to a
complete standstill before removing the feeder chute or container.
∙ Ensure that the food attached to the
pestle does not protrude from the chute.
Lack of hygiene
Lack of hygiene may result in germs forming inside the appliance:
∙ Clean the appliance thoroughly before
using it for the fi rst time, and also after each cycle of use.
∙ Always ensure that the appliance is
disconnected from the mains before cleaning.
∙ For detailed information on cleaning
the appliance, please refer to the section Cleaning and care.
Danger of damage to the unit
Incorrect handling of the appliance can cause damage
:
∙ Always place the unit on a dry, level,
non-slip surface, which is impervious to contact with the rubber feet.
∙ Do not let the power cord hang free. ∙ Do not kink or pinch the power cord.
Keep both the cord and the appliance
itself well away from heat sources (eg
hot-plates, gas fl ames).
Proper use
∙ This appliance must only be used for
making spirals from raw ingredients
such as carrots, cucumber, potatoes,
courgettes (zucchini), parsnips,
radishes, beetroot and sweet potatoes
(yams). Caution: The appliance is not
designed to process hard food items
such as nuts or ice cubes. ∙ Any use other than that described in
these instructions must be considered
improper and may lead to personal
injury or material damage. ∙ This appliance is intended for
domestic or similar applications, such
as
- in staff kitchens in shops, offi ces and other similar working environments,
- in agricultural working environments,
- by customers in hotels, motels etc. and similar accommodation,
- in bed-and breakfast type environments.
∙ Do not leave the appliance unattended
while connected.
Caution: Any misuse can cause
severe personal injury.
In case of a defective appliance
A defective appliance can cause material damage and injury

∙ Check the appliance and blade inserts
for damage before every use. Do not operate if the appliance or a blade insert shows any sign of damage.
∙ In the event that you detect damage,
please contact our customer service department by phone or email (see appendix).
∙ Repairs to this appliance or its power
cord must only be carried out by our customer service.

Short-time operation
The appliance is designed for short-term operation only, i.e. it should not be operated continuously for more than 10 minutes. Allow it to cool down for another 30 minutes, after which it may be used again.
Blade inserts
This appliance comes with two different blade inserts:
‘Spaghetti’ for narrow spirals ‘Tagliatelle’ for wider spirals
To achieve optimum results, we recommend replacing the blade inserts as soon as they start producing uneven or unsightly spirals.
Operation
∙ Clean the vegetables and cut into pieces of max. 15 cm
length. ∙ Place the container under the feeder chute. ∙ Fit the gear-wheel insert into the housing. ∙ Select the desired blade insert and fi t it into the gear-
wheel insert.
∙ Fit the feeder chute and turn clockwise until it is heard
locking into place (
).
∙ Take a prepared food item and attach it to the end of the
pestle.
∙ Insert the pestle with the food into the feeder chute and
hold it in position.
Caution: Ensure that the food item does not protrude
from the chute. ∙ Turn the appliance on. ∙ Guide the pestle slowly downwards, without applying
rm pressure. The processed food is collected inside the
container.
Hint: Should a piece of food become separated
from the pestle, switch the appliance off and disconnect it from the mains. Then take off the feeder chute, remove the detached food and re­attach it to the pestle.
∙ Take out the pestle and attach a new piece of food, if
desired. ∙ For technical reasons, a small piece if food will remain
on the pestle. Remove this and use it another time. ∙ Switch the appliance off and disconnect it from the
mains.
After use
∙ The appliance should be thoroughly cleaned after each
use (see Cleaning and care). ∙ Empty the container. ∙ Take out the pestle. ∙ Remove the feeder chute by turning anti-clockwise ( ). ∙ Remove the blade and gear-wheel inserts.
Cleaning and care
∙ Always disconnect the appliance from the mains before
cleaning. ∙ Do not use abrasives, harsh cleaning solutions or hard
brushes for cleaning. ∙ To avoid the risk of electric shock, do not clean the
housing with water and do not immerse it in water. ∙ The housing may be wiped with a slightly damp, lint-free
cloth. ∙ All detachable parts (see After use) may be cleaned
using hot water and a mild detergent. Caution: The blades are very sharp. Always use the
cleaning brush provided. ∙ The pestle, feeder chute, gear-wheel insert and container
can also be cleaned in a dishwasher. However, the blade
inserts are not dishwasher-safe.
Disposal
Devices marked with this symbol must be disposed of separately from your household waste, as they contain valuable materials which

can be recycled. Proper disposal protects the environment and human health. Your local authority or retailer can provide information on the matter.
Guarantee
This product is guaranteed against defects in materials and workmanship for a period of two years from the date of purchase. Under this guarantee the manufacturer undertakes to repair or replace any parts found to be defective, providing the product is returned to one of our authorised service centres. This guarantee is only valid if the appliance has been used in accordance with the
instructions, and provided that it has not been modifi ed, repaired or interfered with by any unauthorised person, or damaged through misuse. This guarantee naturally does not cover wear and tear, nor breakables such as glass and ceramic items, bulbs etc. This guarantee does not affect your statutory rights, nor any legal rights you may have as a consumer under applicable national legislation governing the purchase of goods. If the product fails to operate and needs to be returned, pack it carefully, enclosing your name and address and the reason for return. If within the guarantee period, please also provide the guarantee card and proof of purchase.
Trouble shooting
Problem Cause Remedy
The appliance does not start. It is not connected to the mains. Insert the plug into a wall socket. The spirals are uneven or unsightly. The food items are not securely attached. Attach the food fi rmly and securely
to the end of the pestle.
Excessive pressure on the pestle. Guide the pestle slowly downwards,
applying only light pressure. The food items are too soft. Use a different kind of food. The blades are blunt. Replace the blade inserts.
The spirals are too short. The food items have been cut too short. Use longer items. The appliance stops. Unsuitable food is being processed. Use a different kind of food.
Too much food has been put in. Process less food at a time.
