Introduction
The Medalist
2120 (ST32120A), Medalist 1721 (ST31721A) and Medalist 1010
(ST31010A) provide the following key features:
• Low power consumption
• Quiet operation
• S uppor t for S.M.A.R.T. drive monitoring and reporting
• High instantaneous (burst) data-transfer rates (up to 16.7 Mbytes per
second) using PIO mode 4 and DMA mode 2
• Full-track multisector transfer capability without local processor inter-
vention
• 128-Kbyte adaptive multisegmented cache
• S tat e- of-the-ar t cachi ng and on-the-fly error-correction algorithms
• Support for Read/Write Multiple commands
• Support for autodetection of master/slave drives that use cable select
