GEOMETRY/TECHNICAL DATA GAMBLER 700/27.5”GAMBLER CONCEPT
Gambler 700 is the result of several years of research and development, including input and cl ose collaboration with the riders from the S C OT T/Gstaad DH Team. Our goal was to develop one of the most versatile and durable DH bikes on the market that was also easy to set-up and maintain.
SCOTT’s focus was o n creating a durable frame that was lightweight while having optimized kine matics of the rear swingarm to match the new 27.5” wheel s ize.
Gambler 700 was designed for riders looking for a race oriented DH bike offerin g a rear wheel travel of 210mm .
SCOTT considers th e frame, rear shock and kinematics not simply as singular components of a bike, but also as a complete package that works holistically to deliver an optimal level of functionality.
The Gambl er 700 Conce pt is based on a newly designed m ulti-pivot technology and a floatin g link design that share many similarities with th e previous Gambler. The complete fra me has been refined to be optimized with the new 27.5” wheel size but is also still compatible with 26” wheels.
In combination with the linear coil-over shock charac teristics the kinematic s guarantees a progressive suspension , adapted to smooth riding (beginning of travel) as well as extrem e jumps (end of travel) .
All new geometry for 27.5” wheels and adjusted sizing.

SE T-UP GAM BLE R
The set-up of the rear shock can be easily done within a few minute s.
Please ta ke this tim e to avoid dang erous rid ing perf ormance a nd to get th e best out of your G am ble r.
Please make sure that the coil spring on the sho ck matches to your riding weight (including your riding ge ar).
The basic set up of the shock spring is for size
S: 350x3 .50 corresponds to a rider weight of 65kgs
M: 40 0x3.5 0 correspon ds to a rider weight of 75kgs
L: 450x3 .50 cor responds to a rider weight of 8 5kgs
We recommend th e following coil springs:
50-60 kgs 300x3.50

70-80 kgs 400x3.50
80-90 kgs 450x3.50
For fine tuning the SAG and the corresponding eye-to-eye distance of the shock bolts you can tighten or release the pretension of the coil spring but please respect the maximum a nd minimum spring tensio n instructi ons of the shock manufac tu re r.

BASIC SET-UP OF REBOUND
“Rebou nd” describes the speed the shock co mes back to its original len gth after absorbing the impact of a n obstacle.
The red rebound screw allows you to adjust the rebound easily by following these instructions:
Ride your bike of f a pavement (remain in the saddle) and ch eck how many time s it bounces.
- if it bounces 1-2 times, the set up is good.
- If it bounces mo re than 3 times the rebound is too f ast. Turn the screw 1-2 “clicks” clockwise
- If it does not bounce the rebound is too sl ow. Turn the screw 1-2 “clicks” counterclockwise.
IMPORTANT!
Note that you have to always mou nt the rear shock as shown in the diagram.
Mounting th e rear shock in a d ifferent p osition may cause severe damage to the frame, the linkage levers a nd the rear shock.
IMPORTANT!
When dismantling the rear shock, both f ixing bolts should be tightened with a tightening torq ue of 35Nm/ 308in-lbs.
If this is not done correctly th e rear shock m ay become damaged.
SET-UP OF OTHER SHOCK MODELS
SCOTT strongly recommends on ly using the originally specified shock with the Gambler bike, as the shock has been carefully chosen to fit and work per fectly with
this bike.
If you use a different rear shock model than the original shock on the bike, please avoid potential damage to the fram e by checking th oroughly that the shock does not hit the frame in any position.
Please follow these instructions:
Ensure that the rear shock an d its accessory parts do not touch the frame when mounting or suspending.
To check this, release the air/remove the coil, install the shock and compre ss the shock completely.
If the shock touches the fram e while doi ng so, do not u se this sh ock in orde r to avoid damag e to frame, swingarm o r shock.
ADJUSTMENT OF SEATPOST-HEIGHT
IMPORTANT!
The seatpost has to be inser ted into the seattube at a minimum of 80mm .
Never use eithe r a seatpost dia meter other than 31.6 mm or a shim/reducer betwee n the seatpost a nd frame.

FRONT FORK SET-UP/CHANGE OF FRONT FORK
For the set-up of the fro nt fork please use the fork specific manual attached to the bike.
We recommend using front fork s with a travel between 180 and 203 mm (568mm fork length), as this will not influe nce the geometry and alter handling of the bike.
FRONT FORK BUMPER
To avoid damage to the frame from the fork stanchions hitting the downtube in the event of a crash , the Gambler has alloy brazed fittings on th e front end of the downtube for assembling the bumpers.
Please note that compared to MY 13, new fork bumpers have been designed .
MY15 fork bumpers have the same bolts as MY13 .
- Right hand side is a fork bumper only
- Left Hand side fork bumper is also an integrated cable guide.
The bumpe rs can be replaced if needed. You can order them via the SCOTT distributio n with article number:
239532 N EW Fork bumper Gambler '15
In order to replace them plea se use a 4mm allen key for the M5 bolt and please respect th e maximum tightening torque of 5 Nm/44in/lbs.
PIVOT MAINTENANCE
The pivots and b earings on SCOTT Gambler are ex tremely eas y to maintain.
An external tre atment with a grea se spray after every bike wash is all that is neede d. We do not recomme nd heavy grease sprays as these leave a film on the pa rts which is difficult to remove. We also recom mend the same for the chain.
ATTENTION!
We strongly recommend going to your local SC OTT dealer if the swingarm requires repair or assembly/disassembly in order to avoid injuries and damage cause d by incorrect set- up .
Should you ch oose to order a bearing ser vice tool kit or a kit with all necessary bearings , these are available to order at your local SCOTT dealer using the S COTT article nu mbers below. Alternatively, order from a hardware store using the bearing information in the Geometry/Tech Data sectio n of this manual.
